Penny’s Tips Volume 45

Hi everyone! Apparently Mom got the hint when I left a plastic eyeball in her shoe. If I didn’t get to write my post today, it was going to be her eyeball in the shoe next time.

I sent my mom outside to get me a slug and instead she comes in with all these peaches. I don’t have a tip for peaches-unless you make them into a pie then you may want my pie crust tip. Click here.

She isn’t too bright. She was digging for slugs until Dad explained those are grubs. Slugs are not in the ground. We don’t have any slugs around, but if you do, you can repel them with pennies. They need to be made before 1983 ( that counts me out) because it is the copper content in them that repels the slugs. You can read how to make a penny ball for your garden. Click here

See you next week!

  1. Old pennies repel slugs? What a great idea, we do get some of those around here.

Pennies for the pie crust is a lot better than buying those expensive ceramic pie crust weights, too.

  2. That’s a good tip! My human has always been a little sad because peaches don’t grow well here – she has always wanted a tree.

  3. OMC! I am hungry for a yummy and juicy peach!

That penny ball looks like it would be a nice project to make and try. There are way too many of those yucky slugs here…not to mention other ‘beasties’ that want to gobble up my patio garden. Got to get out the eggshells…and somewhere I do have diatomaceous earth…and yes we have beer too. Drunk slugs, MOL, MOL!!
As long as Dalton & Benji don’t try to have at it:)

  4. Oh my! Those peaches look fabulous! Lucky you……..peach pie, peach cobbler, peach tart, peach ice cream…….yum! Thanks for the tip on slugs (ick).

    Hugs, Teddy

  5. Oh, my goodness! Look at those peaches! It’s so hard to find good ones at the grocery store – I’ve just plain given up. Penny, we know you’d never ACTUALLY take your Mom’s eye …

  6. I don’t have to worry about slugs because we don’t see them here… lots of lizards though. But still interesting about the pennies and good to pass on to others so thank you. Those peaches look beautiful. I love to eat a peach over the kitchen sink when it is so ripe and sweet that it drips juice down to my elbows! Good Morning!

  7. I will be making that penny ball I always get slugs in my flowers. Thanks for the post.

  8. Yepper. The content of coinage changed drastically…the saddest for mommy was when they dropped all silver in the silver coins and nickel in the nickel coins.

  9. Slugs, grubs…they are gross, either way! We haven’t seen many slugs this year, but I play with wee snails when I can…even feed them bits of cat kibble.

  10. I always enjoy your tips, Penny. You’re a very smart kitty and you sure know how to get moms attention.

    Oh yummy on those peaches.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. My best to your mom. ♥

  11. Great tip, Penny. I thought the slugs were able to read about the year, you know, as in old slugs…MOL 😀 The peaches look so delicious and what a big crob you have…yummy. Now I have a tip for you, sweet girl, you have to go in business, with so much peaches 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Healthy Tuesday to all of you💗💗💗

  13. I must admit I never heard the penny tip, but strangely enough, I haven’t seen any slugs around, and this is giant slug country!

  14. We don’t know if we have any slugs in our yard, but we sure don’t want those nasty grubs. They ruin the grass even more than we do. Mom says we will all be right over to help you eat those yummy peaches – those grow in your yard???? Outstanding.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  15. This is a tip I’ll be keeping in mind, Penny! We tend to get slugs galore after it rains, especially in the autumn. I remember being freaked out when I once found my Halloween jack-o’-lantern covered in slugs after a rainy night. So, I’ll certainly be keeping this penny tip on hand, Penny!

  16. Ugh, digging for slugs – or grubs – does not sound like a fun activity! Peaches are a much better idea.
Thanks for tips about the pennies and slugs though, we did not know that! I haven’t seen as many lately though, it could be the birds eat them!

  17. We love peaches! And, thankfully, don’t have slugs either. I didn’t know about the pennies so thanks for the tip!
