Wordless Wednesday

Hi everyone! Today is day O of the A-Z Blogging Challenge. O is for odors and when you live with a lot of cats, sometimes, there are odors. I won’t use scented litters because the smell bothers me and I certainly don’t want the cats to have to lick that stuff off their paws. I just add some baking soda to the litter box. It works, it is safe and it is cheap.

Sometimes one of them pees in a bad spot. Usually Sammy when he is mad at me and sometimes it is when a cat has a bladder infection. I have found washing items with color safe bleach gets the odor right out.

I like how Prancie’s tail is sticking out from under Brody.

  1. Mom always says baking soda has a lot of very good uses.

Hope that tail doesn’t fall asleep.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  2. That’s a good tip about the color safe bleach. Fortunately, we don’t have any pee-ers here, knock on wood. I love how it looks like Brody’s growing an orange tail!

  3. I wash out old bottles that held spices. The ones with the shaker tops are perfect to fill with baking soda and kept nearby the litter box. Bleach is rather toxic so I prefer to use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar, it has never failed me.

  4. Baking soda works for so many things and it’s safe to use. That’s the best part. We do what we have to do to keep things in order.

Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Ellen. Scritches to all your babies. β™₯

  5. Love the tips! Even though my cat doesn’t pee anywhere but her box, baking soda is my go-to for many things. Happy Wednesday!

  7. Some of us here do leave some strong odors but a fast scoop and the issue is solved. Love your photo and congrats Prancie on winning Teddy’s Easter Bonnet Prize! Wheeee
    Timmy and the Easter Kitties

  8. Yes cats can be a little bit stinky from time to time but I daresay they might say the same for their humans on occasion! HAHAHA

    Hugs, Teddy

  9. Yes, living with fur babies sometimes does cause some odors! Bridget has kidney issues and I’m cleaning the litter box more often than I’d like in order to keep the urine smell in check. And, dogs fart….and then look so innocent! πŸ™‚ Sometimes Cabo can run me out of the room. But, that might be too much information! Anyway, adorable photo and hope your week has been wonderful. xoxo

    1. I will add Bridget to my prayer list. Thank you. I hope you are having a good week too. XO

  10. Does color-safe bleach work on concrete floors? TBT is about to use a citrus-based floor cleaner around our litter boxes and we think that might make things worse. Iza is the one who poops just next to the litterboxes and we don’t want to struggle with a strange smell just because of HER!

    1. I am not sure about that, I never tried it. Maybe TBT needs to put puppy pads by the box, that is what I do to catch any pee that goes over the edge.

  11. Congratulations to Prancie for winning the Easter Bonnet Contest at Teddy’s blog! Baking soda works wonders for lots of things. I always have it in the pantry… and the fridge! Brody and Prancie look pretty content together!

    1. Thank you πŸ™‚ Yes, they get along good. Prancie gets along with everyone. XO

  12. I layer baking soda on the bottom of the just newly cleaned out litter can, add the litter and it does a great job.

  13. For some reason your blog wasn’t coming up in my feed and i missed this post. It has finally come back, all of the posts for the last three days!

Color safe bleach takes out the odor! Wow, i will have to get some and try it. Most of the time, if our cats mess on something, we throw it out, i’ve wasted a lot of time washing with everything else under the sun and have almost never salvaged anything they peed on.

    1. I wonder why my blog wasn’t showing up= thanks for letting me know and for getting caught up πŸ™‚ Color safe bleach is the best πŸ™‚

  14. I really need to make more use of baking soda. It can work so many wonders, especially in a home with animals, and I need to take advantage of that. I’m definitely going to start using it in the litter boxes, because there are definitely some odors in there.
