Tubby Tuesday

Hi everyone! You are probably wondering why this post is titled Tubby Tuesday.

Brody has been getting quite tubby. My hubby calls him Stubby because he does have short legs and a full body. I was going to make him a vet appointment because I know I don’t feed him enough for him to gain that much weight. I was wondering if he had a slow thyroid like me, but then my hubby caught him in action the other morning. I keep Phoebe’s food on a high cupboard in the hallway. I didn’t think anyone would go up there because it is very narrow, but I was wrong. He was up there wolfing down her grain. She likes to eat during the night so I keep it available because if I start opening containers , everyone will come rushing in and expect a snack. I am guessing he has been doing this for a few months which explains his weight gain. I know keep it inside the cabinet.

  1. Hahahahaa! Good job, Brody!!!

You could maybe get one of those chip-reading feeders who’ll only open when Phoebe wants to eat? They’re pretty expensive though.

    1. I have seen those and wanted one for Snowball because Sammy always tried to steal her food. I don’t think Phoebe would use it.

  2. Hahaha clever cat ! I can’t control weight with my cats, because when they are hungry and don’t find anything here in the house they go to the neighbors who also have cats and eat there. The neighbor cats do the same so i never know who ate what and when ! I once left an apple cake on the table to cool down, the next morning I found one half all over the kitchen the rest was in Arthur’s stomach ! I had never thought that he would eat apple cake !

    1. That is funny they can go to the neighbors. Very naughty about the cake, mine would probably lick it, but not destroy it 🙂

  3. Well, at least you don’t need a vet visit to explain his weight gain now! We are feeding Chuck lots if little meals, abd he’s been holding his weight, which is exactly what we want! But Snacker Angel is also nomming, and she’s a bit zaftig now.

  4. Mee-you Brody dude mee iss happy yur livin with Lady Ellen an getting along!! BUTT mee NOT happy yur eatin mee beeluvved Phoebe’ss speshell food! Pleeze try not to as shee needs it to keep her kids….wait…kidneyss’ healthee.
Many fankss, yur furend Siddhartha Henry =^,.^=

  5. The kibble is always better in the other food bowl 🙂
I never truly understood the difficulty with two (or more) cats – with two diets (quantity and contents), until we adopted Ellie. She eats everything and it will be hard to limit her intake without Bear being affected.
Don’t worry, Brody … you are still a handsome devil!

  6. Hahaha~bummer for Brody, no more snacking on Phoebe’s food. But I guess it’s good ’cause now he doesn’t have to go to the vet 🙂

  7. 🙂 boomer used to do this; we could never figure out how dai$y stayed so slim ~~~ ♥♥

  8. MOL Brody’s no fool, he can sniff out da nummies. MOL He purrobably went without fur so long, he’s still a little scared it’ll all be gone tomorrow. We’re just glad he’s okay. Big hugs

    Luv ya’

  9. Brody is cute but if you want him to lose weight exercise him more and maybe try him on some food for weight loss and if you don’t want to do than grain free food might help. Good Luck

  10. If your vet thinks Brody’s obese, he will make recommendations as to food and volume. Sometimes extra weight can be a life-prolonging providence–as it was with our late Coolidge when he became hyperthyroid when he was already a severe diabetic.

    1. I think he will lose weight now that he isn’t eating all Phoebe’s food too.

  11. Alright Brodie! You little sneak you! Hey – a guy has to eat when he’s hungry right? Too bad your Mom figured things out.

    Hugs, Teddy

  12. But Miss Ellen, it sounds like he is getting his exercise by scaling up high to get to the food. Maybe it is just a little extra insulation to keep him cool during these hot summer months?! Tee hee hee.

  13. Tubby, not not stealth enough to avoid getting caught with his nose in the kibble bowl! Hopefully he’ll shed the extra weight.

  14. Oh dear!
Mum has to make sure to pick up any food we do not finish as Julie will eat it.
She is a solid kitty and mum and the Vet want her to loose a bit 😉
