Trick or Treat is a Trick for Some and a Treat for Others

Happy Saturday everyone! Today is product day and being that Halloween is on the way, I thought the Trick or Treat cat toy would be appropriate. I actually bought mine months ago and finally got hubby to hang it for me.

I was hoping it would be a great new toy to dispense treats like a wobbly egg and ball we have. I was wrong . I wish I would have read the reviews on the Foster and Smith website before I ordered it. Some of the kitties have played with it, but when they hit the ball, all the treats come out at once which is great for them, but not what I had in mind.

If you think your cat may like it, here is the link: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=25991&utm_campaign=bazaarvoice&utm_medium=SearchVoice&utm_source=RatingsAndReviews&utm_content=Default

I am also having a giveaway for Breast Cancer awareness month. I never got to meet my hubby’s mother because she passed away from this disease when he was in college. A couple months back, I went to the Vera Bradley Outlets and got this great purse that has pink in it and the proceeds go to Breast Cancer research. I also made a catnip mat with pink kitties for the winner’s cat(s). 005Just leave a comment today or tomorrow and I will announce the winner Monday morning.

Marshwood Cottage won a mat from us and those cats loved it- check out her post from yesterday : http://marshwoodcottage.blogspot.com/. Angus even picked it up in his mouth and took off with it.

blog7blog9Phoebe will be writing tomorrow’s post- unless one of the other kitties figures out her scheme to earn a dollar. One year Phoebe was Little Red Riding Hood and Joanie was the Wolf as Grannie. Have a nice day everyone!

  1. Cancer takes the best of people too soon. The giveway needs to go to a cat owner battling cancer. They need all the support they can get. I would like help run a rescue to help hospice out with their pets. God bless.

    1. That is a great idea to help pets of those in hospice. I am sure it would give those in hospice care peace of mind knowing their beloved pets were cared for. I wanted to post the giveaway for someone with or a survivor of cancer, but some people may not want to disclose that information so that is why I did it this way.

    1. We do go a little crazy here in the USA for Halloween for all ages, but it used to be mainly for kids. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. All the treats all at once. What a great idea! Mom probably wouldn’t like that either but it sounds like a good idea to me. Pawesome looking catnip mat.

    1. Thank you for stopping by and complimenting the mat. It was easy to make, I am new to sewing and that is all I can make so far.

    1. Thannk you- I hope you have a nice weekend too. I like pink too as you can probably tell by my logo, but blue is my favorite.

  3. wow, treat bonanza with that toy! My Theo would be whacking the daylights out of that ball to get more treats to fall! Ha!

Cancer sucks. For sures. Sad to hear you Missed meeting Hubby’s mom. Dang cancer. It’s tried several times now to get my mom.

And thanks for the invite to checkl out your blog. I’m glad i did! Happy weekend!!

    1. I will pray for your mom, it sounds like she has been through a lot. Thank you for checking out 15andmeowing.

  4. So glad you post about breast cancer awareness it is something both men and women should be checked for. It would save your life,

    1. Thank you Darlene, I just heard an interview on the radio of a man that had to have a double mastectomy which I never realized happens.

    1. That is a good idea, I know it is more common in kitties that are not fixed or were fixed later. I need to start doing that as almost all of mine were adopted as adults so I don’t know when they got fixed.

  5. Breast Cancer Awareness is so very important! My Mom was diagnosed in August 2009 and we are very lucky that with the aggressive form she had that we caught it early and treated it aggressively. I have had 5 other women in my life diagnosed since that time, all under the age of 45. Early detection and treatment is so very important! Thank you for reminding people! We Rock the Pink at our house!

      1. Joanie and Phoebe say thank you. I don’t sell the mats, but I can make you one. I only had a small amount of that fabric though so it wouldn’t be the pink cats 🙁 The next time I go to Joanne’s I will see if they still carry it.

    1. Sorry your mom has had to go through so much, but I am glad it was still treatable. That is a lot of women you know that have been affected and so young too. I hope they were all able to be treated and get it into remission.

  6. Well, we know we can’t enter for the treat dispenser. Marcus would be eating all the treats and he’s not even a cat. 🙂

But that mat is cute and we would sure love to win that. Thanks for having the giveaway.

    1. The treat dispenser is just a review, no giveaway. And you commented so you are now entered for a chance to win the purse and mat. I am going to try to make a treat dispenser with a soda bottle and some supplies. I will post that in a couple weeks – maybe it won’t dole them all out at once 🙂

  7. I think that it is wonderful that your contest is focused on breast cancer awareness!
love the bag, and you are so talented making the mat!!!! The costumes are adorable!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!!!

  8. I don’t think having to work for your food is a good idea, so the generously dispensing treat ball is a great idea. I bet it makes rattly noises though. I prefer to eat in peace.

I love Phoebe and Joanie’s costumes. Mom is thinking of making me wear the bat costume again so she cat get a better photo. Maybe I can be Little Red Riding Hood instead. I think I’d look good in red.

    1. I am sure you would look good in red. I basically wrapped her in the fabric- no sewing involved. This year I am going to use that fabric to make Sammy’s Flash costume. I have 4 black cats, they are going to be pepper ( my white cat will be salt) , a penguin, Batman and possible a butterfly. I can’t wait to see your bat.

  9. We’ve loved seeing all these great costume ideas for Halloween! They’re fab! Cancer is such a horrible disease…..for animals and humans…..my Mom has had cancer and survived to tell the tale so we have a bit of a “soft spot” in our heart for anyone who is going through treatment, living with it or even knows someone who has……..We love pink!

    Hugs, Sammy

    1. I am glad your mom is a survivor. Glad you like the costumes, I need to get moving and enter some in your contest.

    1. Please tell your mom, you’re welcome. My first issue arrived today so hopefully hers will arrive soon. That was a good idea your mom had to put treats in the crochet holes, I am going to try that too. If you win, maybe you and your mom could share the purse.

  11. We lost our Auntie El to cancer and our Angels Sniffie and Clifford. We hate cancer.

We think that mat is fabulous!!! We also want the thingy that dispenses ALL the treats at once…..Mom said NO 🙁

    The Florida Furkids

    1. Sorry you have had so many losses to the horrible C word. Thank you for your compliment on the mat, it was just luck that I had a piece o fabric around like that.

    1. None of my itties are complaining about the trick or treat- I think the trick was on me 🙂

    1. Thank you. I think everyone has been affected by cancer in some way- it is an awful disease.

  12. Mommy’s best friend has survived breast cancer twice, but both she and our dad lost their sisters to the disease, and Mom lost a cousin as well. Thanks for doing something to call attention to it. We hope you will join us tomorrow for our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop and on Monday for our Mice Bucket Challenge and Comment-a-thon. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    1. I am sorry about your mom and dad’s sisters and cousin, that is awful. YEs, we will be hopping with you- thanks for the reminder. Can’t wait to see your mice bucket challenge.

  13. Little Red Riding Hood is precious and Grandma is adorable, too. You kittehz really know how to get gussied up for Halloween.

We do NOT dress up for holidays, per our request. MOL!

The giveaway sounds great and the mats and purse are very cute. Thank you for stopping by our blog.
    Happy Sunday!
    XOXO

    1. I am sorry about your friend, that is awful. It is terrible for anyone, but especially heartbreaking when it takes someone so young.

  14. The pink mat is lovely. Cancer affects so many. My mum lost her battle with breast cancer when she was 50. I also have had cancer (not breast) and have reached my 4th year cancer free.

    1. I am sorry about your mom and for your struggles too. Congratulations on 4 years cancer free!
