Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone. We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. Mom is thankful that The Great One’s baby sister arrived a week ago. We will refer to her on the blog as The New One.

Here is my poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day based on this photo.

Years ago, before I lived in this house,
I went into the woods to find a mouse.
I came to a stop
when I spotted a mushroom top.
I was so hungry I almost took a bite
until something blue gave me a fright.
It yelled, “get away from my home”
it was not a gnome.
I apologized and got out of his turf
and now I am friends with a smurf.
When Mom was a kid, she collected these little blue creatures, so she still has a few left.
Mom also wants me to let everyone who donated to Buttons’ surgery to know she is working on those crocheted toys to send you. In case you missed her post, she will send anyone in the USA crocheted catnip toys that donates $15 to Buttons’ surgery. We know that money is tight so please share and pray. Click here.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

  1. Congratulations on the new human baby. Our family had one too – Mom’s nephew & his wife had a little furless and it’s fingers are really long.
I like your poem, I didn’t expect the smurf (without seeing the picture).

  2. We continue to hope that poor Buttons can have surgery and NOT lose his leg…..such a sad situation. We love the poem today – definitely have to be careful that no Smurf houses are accidentally eaten out in the forest! We knew this would be a FUN photo for poetry. So excited about THE NEW ONE – she and THE GREAT ONE will be such great friends growing up.

    Love, Teddy

    1. Thank you. I like the poem photo for next week too 🙂 XO and love to you and your mom.

  3. Congratulations! I wish Buttons all the best. That photo is adorable. I collected key rings as a kid and have one with a smurf around here somewhere. ~grin~ I look forward to the fill-in answers. Be well!

    1. I should have checked my blog first. ~shakes head~ Thank you for the great comment. Wow! That’s bizarre about the GPS! My late mother and I were headed toward our old home town decades ago and ended up going way past it somehow. My father did most of the driving their entire married life, much like I’ve done since the day I got my license. ~grin~ Be well!

      1. You’re welcome. I prefer to be chauffered so I let me hubby and mom drive 🙂

    2. Thank you. I have a smurf one too that says I would rather be skiing- it is funny because I have never been skiing. 🙂

  4. Love the mushroom poem. That was great. We so hope that Button’s surgery goes well. You all have a super day.

  5. I love your poems. This one is especially great and funny.

    Prayers for Buttons.

I’m all ready for Friendly Fill-ins tomorrow.

Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. My best to your wonderful mom. ♥

  6. Hooray for the safe arrival of The New One!

Smurfs are cute looking, although i was not enamored with the show itself.

  7. Ah HA! Now we are beginning to understand…she had SMURFS as a youngster! What would Nic Cage say about that, HMMMM?!?
LOL! I would love to learn about mushrooms, especially morels.

  8. I absolutely adore your poem! I used to watch The Smurfs TV show as a kid. I have been thinking about Buttons, and I hope he and his mom are doing okay. Purrs to all!

    1. Thank you. I like The Flintstones too, I used to have a crush on Barney Rubble. XO

  10. Mom and I watched an animated movie with those lil’ blue men earlier in the year. They are silly! Hmm… maybe a smurf lives in the (vase) toadstool that you crocheted, Miss Ellen? I’ll have to go check! Purrs!

  11. Cute poem. Mom has a few of those blue smurfs around too, the miniatures. Congrats on The New One – all the more fun with visits from the two of them.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  12. I’ll admit I rarely read the poems but that was a really good one! TW used to collect smurfs too as well as trolls. I think the only ones she has left are Christmas ornaments.

    1. That is cool that she collected smurfs. I had one troll and my mother threw it away because she said they were bad luck 🙁
