Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! Before our regular post, I want to give condolences to Greg on the loss of his sweet girl, Opie. To visit, click here.

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. I am thankful that my hubby and I got to see some lady slippers.

Can you see them?

I finally wrote a poem for Angel Sammy’s Poetry Day.

I hope my mom doesn’t catch me,
this book has filled me with glee.
With all this dirt on my sis, I won’t have to do any chore
Pardon me while I continue to explore.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my wonderful co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

  1. That is indeed very sad about the loss of Greg’s Opie. Ahaha funny poem there Ellen! I do see the Lady Slippers, they’re cute and beautiful! XO

  2. That picture in that polar more exactly right for you because you’re such an Avid Reader. And I love that you live somewhere where you have ladies slippers. I’ve only seen them a few times in my life when we’ve traveled.

  3. That’s hilarious – it took me a minute (duh) to understand there was a sister’s diary involved in the undercover reading! Love that twist……….we didn’t know Opie but we never like to hear someone’s beloved companion has flown away.

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy

  4. I didn’t know Opie but it is sad to hear of another kitty that had to leave their person. I am sorry Opie had to leave.
A most excellent poem, funny too! Poor Sis☺️
We had Lady Slippers on The Tiny Ten. They are protected by law in Missouri. Our Lady Slippers were yellow. I do see your pretty slippers!

    1. Yes, it is sad. Thank you. I have never seen a yellow one. These are illegal to pick. XO

  5. I was saddened to hear about Angel Opie. and my condolences to Greg. That’s a cute poem, and perfect for the image.

  6. Oh I haven’t seen Lady’s Slippers since I was 6! We had a (real) log cabin in the woods for summer back home in Va. And mother warned me and my brothers never ever pick those. The were rare wildflowers. She really drilled it home to us. About them, several other plants, and never EVER bother any nesting birds or ELSE!

  7. Charlee: “Reading in the blanket cave at night! Our Dada says that is a classic childhood pastime! We are surprised he can remember back that far …”
Chaplin: “We didn’t know Opie but we are always sad when a furry friend has to leave for the Rainbow Bridge. We send lots of purrs their way!”
Lulu: “And we dogs send lots of tail wags!”

  8. My heart grieves for all who knew and loved Opie.

The flowers are very dainty and pretty.

What a fun poem! Yep, sis needed to hide her diary better.
