I am also thankful that we were nominated by Crystal’s Site for a Lovely Blog Award. We already have this, but I still appreciate the thought-thank you!

What fresh hell is this? Mom is already buying Halloween costumes. Phoeey!!! I am not wearing this octopus. I want to at least have something pretty.

Now here is my poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day, featuring the letter I. I didn’t use one of the word prompts though.

IRON
Mom and Grammie are a lot alike
neither ever ride a bike.
Both have black hair
and like to swear, I mean share.
Neither has a claim to fame,
but they have one thing that is not the same.
Grammie would never leave her house
if there was a wrinkle in her blouse.
Mom uses her iron, never
She has had the same one forever
Grammie needs a new one every year
Now mom is mad at me, I fear

And here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second two.

  1. UHOH………Halloween costumes? What’s that? This will be my first Halloween with my Mom and Dad and I do NOT like to wear stuff so I’m afraid the same “fresh hell” you have there is coming my way! Love your poem too – My Mom must be weird because she LIKES to iron………

    Love, Teddy

    1. I hope you will cooperate for your folks and wear a costume 🙂 That is good that your Mom likes to iron. XO and love to you and your Mom too!

  2. We are ready for Halloween over here (well, at least this silly human is)! And we love that we got to read 2 poems here, one from you and one from your handsome purrince, Phoebe. They’re both fantastic!

  3. I love the poem about your Grammie and your mom. I always do.

Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. My best to your mom. ☺

  4. Phoebe, you received a lovely love poem! About ironing, I purchased a steamer and haven’t touched an iron since…plus I’ve stopped buying clothes that need it!

    1. Thank you. Mom has a steamer too, Grammie got it for her hoping she would at least use that, but Mom always burns herself when she ises that.

  5. I don’t think you should have to wear any costume you don’t want to. I would rebel if my mommy put me in any costume. My mommy doesn’t like to iron either. She says that is what steam from the shower is for.

  6. Your poem from our Purrince is special, just as you are. And we absolutely love your poem. Our mom, we believe, has forgotten how to iron. When she was working she got up every morning and ironed what she was wearing for the day. Now she never bothers. Our dad irons his shirts that aren’t knit. Our mom is just plain lazy. 1. Thank you 🙂 I am lucky to have my purrince. It sounds like a lot of kitty Dads iron 🙂 XO

  7. MOL, Phoebe! Your poem is wonderful. Your mom is like our mom. She used to iron every week, but now that she works from home, she hasn’t even owned an iron in years.

Yes, maybe the octopus will be for one of the boys and you can wear something pretty for Halloween.

  8. guyz….we never figured yur mom az de swearin type !!!!! 🙂 any way, both poemz two day R rockin awesum N inn deed howl o ween iz like 70 dayz away 🙂 ♥♥

  9. Sweet poem from your Purrince!

And such a funny one about your Mom…um…ours could write about that too…pawppy irons evfurrything like there was no tomorrow, but I don’t think there would be one in our den if it was up to her…MOL!!!

  10. Here are my answers for Friendly Fill-Ins.
    1. Blind dates are usually a bust.
    2. Many years ago I met Maya Angelou
3.I admire Mom and Dad because they have shown me how to be strong in times of trouble.
    4. Other peoples poetry makes me think because it is left to my own interpretation and someone might interpret it a different way you never thought about.

    1. Thank you for your answers. Be sure to read mine tomorrow about blind dates 🙂

  11. Hope you can get out of wearing a costume. Maybe go visit Grammie that day.
Is there any way you could post the fill-ins on Wednesday? I usually finish my friday post on wednesday and I feel I may forget to add this someday.

    1. I wish I could go visit Grammie that day. We don’t want you to forget the fill-ins, I will check with McGuffy’s Reader about Wednesdays. XO

  12. So funny, Dexter looks at me like I’m going to do something horrible when I come home from the $ store with costumes. I have my eye on a little pair of butterfly wings for him, hahaha.

  13. What a lovely poem Dharth wrote you and your poem about mom not ironing is so true here. Dad says if I want to scare mom…..bring out the iron. MOL

    Shoko

  14. Ha ha ha meow. That was a great poem…. And we kittehs are great at sharing our mom’s secrets. PS: since Emmy is the new girl she should wear the octopus this year.

  15. I haven’t met a kitty that was more romantic than your Little Purrince, Phoebe 🙂 We loved your poem too. Granny doesn’t love ironing, but she’s watching television when she has to iron, or looks at concerts and sings and swings around, so it goes automatically 😀 Pawkisses all around 🙂 <3
