Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! We are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful.

Today is National Wear Red Day to raise awareness of heart disease. It is for humans, but Emmy has a heart problem so she has agreed to wear a red scarf. I framed her photo and added the text on Lunapic. Unfortunately, she didn’t agree to keep her eyes open.

Here are my thankfuls-

1. Coffee with a friend on Tuesday.

2. Tallulah went to the vet Monday, she has lost a lot of weight. I am thankful it is just her thyroid which is easy to deal with.

3. Prancie also went to the vet, she got a rabies shot. I asked for a one year one so there would be less stuff going into her. We still don’t really know what happened to her a few months ago so I don’t want to take an chances.

4. Lunch and shopping with my Mom on Wednesday.

5. Bargain on socks at Macy’s, between the sale and plenti points, I got 6 pairs for $2. I love a bargain.

6. Lots of reading time this week.

7. Hubby and I went to the nursing home to visit his former secretary ( for 27 years) -she was doing well and the place is cheerful and doesn’t have the typical nursing home smell.

8. Thankful that my parents kept me safe from all harm, I feel so bad when I hear of kids that are abused in many different ways For example, all those gymnasts abused at the hands of a supposed Doctor.

9. Thankful for my warm home in this very cold and snowy weather.

10. A phone call from one of my friends who is a nun, it was nice to catch up.

  1. Thank you, Ellen, I can identify with some of the things on your list for which I am thankful.

    Effie’s good health is something for which I’m very thankful, and my husband’s as well. Mine isn’t great but it’s a lesson in limits and I need to be grateful for those as well.

  2. Gosh! I wish I’d known it was wear red Day. Marv too could have worn red for my Dad! Thanks for the prayers. Dad is doing a little better. They are hoping he gets well enough that he can have an MRI on Monday and the Drs can determine next steps. I wish Calgary was not so far away.
    Love Barb

  3. That is a great list of things to be thankful for, Ellen. I am sorry to hear that Emmy has heart problems and that Tallulah has thyroid problems. I hope that Prancie will continue to do well after this shot. {{{Hugs}}}

    1. Thank you. Emmy has a bad murmur and her ultrasound showed something was narrowed that is not common in cats. XO

  4. That horrid man did his deeds not that far from here. Makes me shudder. He did some in Texas too.

    I forgot and did not wear red, Oh-Oh! They did let the workers wear red today, instead of their usual blue shirts. I was not working there today.

    I hope your kitties that went to the vet will be well. Emmy sure looks good in red!

    1. That is awful about what he did, I can’t believe he got away with it for so long with so many. Emmy thanks you. XO

  5. Emmy looks beautiful in red….! As for your Thankfuls – what a lot of wonderful things to be thankful for…..bargain socks, some vet visits that turned out alright, and seeing friends…….now if you can just STAY NICE AND COZY you’ve truly got it made!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

  6. Emmy, you look awesome in that scarf. Red suits you. And mom always luffs lunch and shopping. PS: our mom has never known anyone who was a nun. Pastors, sure, she’s worked for two churches, but never a nun.

    1. Emmy thanks you. I am friends with 2 nuns, they are in their 70’s and very nice. I always feared nuns as a child though.

  7. You look gorgeous in red, Emmy! And, as always, I looked forward to reading your Thankfuls. I really appreciate that you can find so many ways to be grateful in life. That is so inspiring. Wishing you all a beautiful day!

  8. I always enjoy reading your Thankfuls. Emmy looks wonderful in red. I’m sorry about her heart. Pierrot should be wearing red too as he has a heart murmur. I’m glad Tallulah will be okay with a med adjustment.

  9. I will be wearing RED today… I am a big supporter of Go Red for Women since I received a cardiac stent in 2005. I have to wear RED today because i stayed home yesterday. I will have my red dress pin on, too… All month actually. Emmy is doing Wear Red Day a great show of support. She looks adorable in RED! I did not realize she has a ♥ problem.
    So happy for you on #4… you know I love lunch and lunch with someone we love! I am happy the vet visits were good and that issues can be dealt with. Your #10… how nice! Hugs!

    1. I didn’t realize you had heart surgery. Emmy’s ultrasound showed a narrowing of something, they are not sure if it is genetic or something new. I need to get her an ultrasound in 6 months, but I am having a cardiologist check over everything too. I am glad this week’s vet visits were more positive. XO

  10. Yes we agree with #8….times were so different when I was growing up.
    Neighbors were extended family, teachers, coaches were trusted…what has happened?
    Hugs Cecilia

  11. You have a great list of thankfulness. I wish I could visit my mom. She went to heaven in 1990. So long ago, but I think of her every day.

    Have a fabulous weekend. ♥

    1. I am very sorry your mom is no longer with you. I know I think of my Dad every day too, he passed in 2001. XO

  12. Great list of thankfuls. We used to have a cat named Tallulah. Named for the dramatic silent screen star Tallulah Bankhead.

  13. Mee-you Emmy you look furabuluss inn red mee Sisfur! An Prancie mee had a weered ree-ackshun to thee 3 year Rabiess shot when mee had it. Mee iss OK now an will not need a shot of that till 2020….mee sorta hopess mee can go back to 1 year shot….
    An Aunty mee iss fankfull yur part of mee furamillee!
    ~~~head rubsss~~~ neffkitty Siddhartha Henry~~~
    1. You should be able to get a one year shot instead, it will be safer. It is too bad indoor kitties have to get the shot at all. And I am thankful to be part of your family too. XO
        1. We don’t want you to feel bad, you have had enough health problems sweet boy. XO
  14. Emmy is a great representative for heart health, even with her eyes closed. Tell her i said cats are smart enough to do almost everything with their eyes closed and a paw tied behind their backs. 😉
    A lovely thankful list, just what i like to read when i’m finally done with work for the week.
  15. Warm home in the cold and snowy winter….I can definitely relate to that! If I have to go outside to take care of the birds, knowing I can come into a toasty wood stove makes it so much better!
  16. TW wants to know from me why she didn’t know bout that Macy’s sale. I told her she has more socks then she’ll ever wear even if she had four feet. HAH! What do you catch up with a nun?
  17. excellent ‘Winter TToT’
    all of the important things, good outcomes from vet visits, warm roof over the head and contact with old friends.
  18. Sounds like a good week! I also mentioned phone calls in my list this week. I don’t know why I don’t make calls more frequently; I sure appreciate receiving them!
    1. I am not a big fan of the phone, but I like calls from someone I don’t hear from often.
  19. Those are great fankfuls awnty Ellen. we’re so happy there was good news from the V E T. Mommy be fankful fur coffee too. Big hugs
    Luv ya’
    Dezi and Raena
  20. It sounds like you had a great week.
    If it were me having to get rabies shots, I think one shot instead of several would be what I would want. Having never had one, I really don’t know what it is like, but I always thought pretty unpleasant.
    That is quite a deal you got on the socks. I love finding those kind of sales.
    Hopefully the smelly nursing homes are becoming a thing of the past. It is nice that the husband’s former secretary is in a good place.
  21. That’s a nice list, and a lot to be thankful for. What a deal on the socks! And Emmy is a great spokes-purrson for heart disease!
  22. This was obviously a really good week for you, Ellen, and that makes me so happy! <3 I loved Emmy in the red scarf. All of mine tend to act like they are being tortured if I try to get them to wear anything fun even for a quick photo. I am thankful for Tallulah's good news at the Vet, what a relief! We worry so much about our furkids and keeping them all well.
    You are blessed to have weekly outings with your Mom, and those socks were indeed a great sale! I had a big discount coupon which enabled me to save $16 on supplies at our CVS Pharmacy last week and I was so happy! Every dollar helps.
    How nice of you to visit your husband's former secretary, after that many years I'm sure she was like one of the family! I worked at one office for 19 years and we are all still friends and stay in touch.
    I share your thankfulness for a safe and protected childhood. It is so frightening that people we think we can trust with our children… doctors, priests, teachers, etc, turn out to be monsters. It is a scary world. My heart aches for those kids and for all children that live with that damage the rest of their lives.
    Visits with friends are wonderful and uplifting, friends are a real blessing! And having a warm cozy home is something we should never take for granted. It makes our lives so much better, especially when its really cold where you are!
    Have an awesome week ahead, Ellen, thank you for sharing with us! XOXO
    1. I am blessed. I am also lucky most of my cats tolerate being dressed. I hope you have a great week! XO
  23. My gosh—that sock sale was epic! Glad to hear that a cat’s thyroid issues are not a big deal. That surprises me, but it is good news. Hope maybe you are already seeing improvement.
  24. Your kitty looks so calm while wearing the scarf! My kitten would be trying to outrun it, and my big ol’ boy would be sullen (we made him wear a tshirt after an arm injury and subsequent surgery because he wouldn’t keep his lampshade on).
