Remember Me Thursday

HI everyone! Today is a very special day, Remember Me Thursday. Now in the sixth year, it is a day to remember all those pets in shelters. Our friends at Lola The Rescued Cat and Three Chatty Cats are hosting the blog hop.

Three of my current kitties came from shelters, everyone else was given to me or just showed up.

Back in 2010, I went to adopt Sammy not knowing he had a sibling. The minute i saw her, I had to adopt her too. It still bothers me that their 3rd sibling had already been adopted. They had been together for almost 5 years at that point and it breaks my heart to see families separated ( human and fur).

My KaChoo went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2010 and I wanted another mitted tabby so I searched Petfinder and found Little Tiger in 2012. I renamed her KaTwo. I know why she was at the shelter for 2 years, because she has feline hyperesthesia. She can seem a bit scary when she is having a fit, chasing her tail, but most of the time, she is very sweet and loving.

My Angel Snowball also came from the same shelter. I saw her in 2012 and kept checking on her and was finally able to adopt her in 2013. Sadly, she had congestive heart failure and left us last year. She was from a hoarding situation and not into people, but she loved her Phoebe.

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop I am thankful for all the kitties I just wrote about and all that I have been blessed with.

Here is my poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day to go with this photo:

In this photo we see an older couple,
perhaps their bodies are no longer supple.
If you ask him what he sees, his eyes will open wide
and he will tell you that is his young bride.
If you ask her about her mate
she’ll tell you from day one she knew it was fate.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and our co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! We have a busy post today. First off , we are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop.My first thankful is the art-

  1. I won a necklace from Memorial Glass Pendants on Cat Chat with Caren and Cody quite a while ago. It is made with ashes of a beloved pet and I had planned to send a little of each of my angels, but Phoebe was so sick that I couldn’t bring myself to deal with it. After Phoebe passed away, I was too sad.Well, last week I finally sent some ashes for the necklace. I decided that Phoebe and Snowball were always together so I chose to have the necklace made with their ashes.

My photo doesn’t do the necklace justice. It is so beautiful and looks like stars in the sky.

2. I am thankful that the owner let me know when the ashes arrived and sent back the ones she didn’t use as well.

3. Hubby and I celebrated our 25th anniversary this week ( I guess that should be #1) .

4. A pizza party with the great one and my mom.

5. Made a cheesecloth ghost with the great one, she is finally at a good age to do some arts and crafts.

6. Mom and I spent the day at the casino on Thursday ( we go every year around her birthday).

7. I only lost $3 at the casino, the most I will part with is $20.

8. Black Cats Tell All came out this week and I am thankful Spooky’s story is part of it.To order click here

9. Thankful some of you plan to watch the movie I was in that Joanie told you about on Monday.

10. Thankful I was able to get Sammy’s vomit off my favorite black cat shirt. It was hanging off the bureau and he stood on the bureau and yacked over the edge.

Ten Things of Thankful

We are also joining Bacon’s Shopping Around the World which features pumpkin recipes this month.

Remember Me Thursday

Hi everyone! Thank you for all the words of comfort you have left on the loss of Phoebe.I will answer all your comments soon. I am still taking a break , but will return for our regular posts on Monday. I didn’t want to miss this special day because it is so important.

Today is Remember Me Thursday, the day we remember those in shelters still needing homes. Some will die in shelters before they ever get their forever homes.

KaTwo and Snowball spent 2 years in The Secaucus New Jersey Animal Shelter before I adopted them.I wish I had more than 4 years with Snowball, but I am thankful for the time we had.

Joanie and Sammy were also in a shelter when I adopted them. I went for Sammy, not knowing he had a sister, but once I saw her, I wasn’t leaving her behind. Please spread the word to adopt from shelters.

You can help your favorite shelter to win prizes( lots of food) in 3 ways:

  1. Take a photo of your rescue pet and post it on Instagram #RememberTheRescue and #RememberMeThursday.
  2. Post the photo on Twitter too with the same hashtags as above.
  3. Upload your photo to the website. Click here.

Happy Father’s Day!

Hi everyone! Happy Father’s Day out there to all Cat Daddies. I am a lucky kitty to have one. Here is a photo from April ( Snowball is in it too- sniff).

Dad always shares his supper with us.

Mom is interrupting my post to list her 3 things she is thankful for today.

Thanks Phoebe, sorry to interrupt. I am thankful that I had a wonderful father.Even though he passed away in 2001, I think of him every day.

I am also thankful that my hubby is such a good cat daddy and loves them as much as I do.

I am also thankful he is an excellent gardener. He has picked over 700 spears of asparagus and lots of strawberries, I even got to freeze some.

I am happy to report I accomplished more of the challenges too- I prayed, took a nap, did a random act of kindness and I even smiled at 3 people at the mall.

Now back to Phoebe-

Do you like my hat? Did you read Kali’s post on Thursday, if not, be sure to click here. We are starting a club for older female cats called The Crotchety Cougars. You just need to be a girl cat, over 15 to join. You will get a badge to display and my Mom will make you a hat like this.

Thanks to Kali’s Mom for designing this beautiful badge

Hats ready to go to members.Madi already joined. We hope there are more of you lovely ladies out there.

I got to see Grammie on Saturday, I love her so very much.

Selfie Sunday

Hi everyone! You caught me sharpening my nails

I saw Grammie Thursday and Saturday. I love her so very much! I even waited for her right by the door. Sadly, I have a lot of free time now. I used to spend a lot of time giving Snowball a bath.

I miss her so much.

Mom was so worried about Snowball that our 3rd Blogoversary came and went on May 23rd. It doesn’t seem like it has been so long since we got started. We are thankful for all the friends we have made these last 3 years. And I am thankful that my purrince found me too.

Thankful Thursday

HI everyone!

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. We are most thankful for all of you. We appreciate all your comforting comments you left on the loss of dear Snowball. We already showed you the beautiful badges made by Ann and Pam. We want to show you a few more.

Thank you to Lorianne for this amazing drawing of Snowball ( she even got her eyes correct).

Thank you to  Pipo and Minko

Thank you to Peaches and Paprika

And to Madi for this wonderful poem:

So sweet
Never to be forgotten
One loved kitty
White as Snow
Beautiful
Adored by her family
Lush fur
Little lady of the house

And thank you to the Trout Talkin Tabbies

St Francis said, “Come little one, there is nothing more I can do for you here, don’t be afraid”, and St Francis gently picked up Snowball  and carried her into the kingdom of heaven…..when the little cat looked around, she realized everything St Francis told her on her journey was true….heaven was beautiful beyond what mere words could express…..

Snowball saw there was no pain, suffering, fear, sickness, hunger, thirst or sorrow, until she looked down and saw the family and friends she had left behind, and for a very brief moment, the little cat too, was filled with sorrow.
then St Francis bestowed Snowball with a set of gossamer wings and said, “Use them to return to your family, when their need is the greatest, as nothing can separate your bond of love.  Hold each other in your hearts and your memories, until you are reunited again at heaven’s door.”
….. and when the little cat tried on her wings, she knew nothing was impossible…… when there is….love❤️❤️
Words can’t express how thankful we are for all of you.
And here is my poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day, featuring the letter Y
Yarn
Yarn is lots of fun
just like napping in the sun.
You can make a hat
that will fit your cat.
You can also make toys filled with nip

There is no contest
