Hi everyone! I am a day late for Sabi Saturday, but here is my entry. (Sabi Saturday is a hop where you show something old, repurposed or upcycled. I have shown this in the past, but not for Sabi Saturday so here it is again.

This was my mom’s book as a child. I guess it is still technically hers, but I am the keeper of it. Does anyone know what Dolly Madison’s surprise was?

  1. I haven’t heard of that book so googled it to find out what the surprise was. I won’t put the answer here and spoil other guesses, but I did see the book was published in 1946, so is still in very good condition considering it is 73 years old.

  2. Hi all! Even though my Mom was born in 1947 she’s never seen or heard of this book so we don’t know what the surprise was!! Do tell……….please?

  5. Mom said she has a lot of old stuffs around and she said she would start looking to see if anything had any interest to us. But Prancie, KaTwo and Joanie…I bet that she may bring something out that was Robin’s. She saved some of her things. That was the matriarch kitty my brothers loved so dearly and she did too of course.

  6. I don’t know what Dolly Madison’s surprise was but I would guess it would be what was really inside her Zingers. 🙂

  13. Everyone is looking relaxed and happy today, great selfies all! What was Dolly Madison’s surprise, is she the one who saved the flag from a fire? Or maybe she is the one who gave us all sugary goodness – MOL!

    I was wondering if Ms Madison’s surprise was a mouse, but Mrs H says she looks far too happy for it to be that, maybe she got a cat?

  19. Mom never heard of that book previously. Mom has a couple of books that belonged to her grandmother And a couple from her childhood. So nice to see three of you today.   23. Hello, cuties! I am always so intrigued by children’s books and their titles, and I always feel compelled to read them to figure out what’s going on. I wonder what Dolly’s surprise was. Do you know, Joanie, but your lips are sealed?
