Sunday Selfies

Hi everyone! I am a day late for Sabi Saturday, but here is my entry. (Sabi Saturday is a hop where you show something old, repurposed or upcycled. I have shown this in the past, but not for Sabi Saturday so here it is again.

This was my mom’s book as a child. I guess it is still technically hers, but I am the keeper of it. Does anyone know what Dolly Madison’s surprise was?

We are joining The Cat on My Head’s Sunday Selfie Blog Hop.

We have lots of participants today-

KaTwoJoanie wondering what I was thinking when I bought these striped pants.

  1. I haven’t heard of that book so googled it to find out what the surprise was. I won’t put the answer here and spoil other guesses, but I did see the book was published in 1946, so is still in very good condition considering it is 73 years old.
    Sweet selfies from everyone.

  2. Hi all! Even though my Mom was born in 1947 she’s never seen or heard of this book so we don’t know what the surprise was!! Do tell……….please?

    Hugs, Teddy

  3. I have never heard of this book. I googled… πŸ™‚ Very sweet to have a book of your Mom’s from when she was little.
Everybody looks pretty happy about Sunday Selfies today.

  4. Mom said she has a lot of old stuffs around and she said she would start looking to see if anything had any interest to us. But Prancie, KaTwo and Joanie…I bet that she may bring something out that was Robin’s. She saved some of her things. That was the matriarch kitty my brothers loved so dearly and she did too of course.

  5. I don’t know what Dolly Madison’s surprise was but I would guess it would be what was really inside her Zingers. πŸ™‚

  6. Happy Sunday dear ones.
I’m not familiar with the book either but I love the cover!!
As I do w/all books the covers draw me to them.
    Hugs Cecilia

  7. Great selfies! We’re not sure what Dolly Madison’s surprise was, but we think it’s super cool that you have that book from your Mom!

  8. Everyone is looking relaxed and happy today, great selfies all! What was Dolly Madison’s surprise, is she the one who saved the flag from a fire? Or maybe she is the one who gave us all sugary goodness – MOL!

  9. Nothing wrong with stripy pants, its the zigzag ones that do the eyes in, MOL
I was wondering if Ms Madison’s surprise was a mouse, but Mrs H says she looks far too happy for it to be that, maybe she got a cat?
    Lots of purrs

  10. I haven’t read this book and am very curious what is the surprise!
Love your selfies πŸ™‚ Happy Sunday!

  11. We don’t know the book, but we think the surpurrize was a kitten…oh…just read the answer…well…ice cream is good too πŸ˜€ You all look great in your Selfie and your face is telling, sweet Joanie πŸ˜€ Extra PawkissesπŸΎπŸ˜½πŸ’ž

  14. We have books from our childhood still, and i’ve never seen this one. Ice cream sounds like a fabulous surprise!
