Sunday Selfies

Hi everyone. Before we get started, we want to give our condolences to Timmy Tomcat’s Dad and siblings. Timmy was a good friend to my Sammy at Cat Scouts.

To visit his family, click here.

We are joining The Cat on My Head’s Sunday Selfie Blog Hop.

Emmy volunteered to do a selfie this week so she could show off her two new toys. Every July she has to go to the vet an hour away for an ultrasound on heart. This year, I scheduled early because I wanted to get her bloodwork checked now. I wanted it checked in December and I kept waiting for her vet to reopen and when they officially closed, I found it hard to get appointments anywhere so I figured they could do it.

I got her the lizard and her Grammie got her the sloth.  She is a good traveler. Her heart has remained the same since last year. They also checked her blood pressure and that was good too. We have to wait on the bloodwork until Monday though.

Lucy 2, Ethel and Bridget currently hate me. Now that they are in Angel Polar Bear’s old room, they have a futon to hide under and behind so that is what they do every time I go up to see them. They are eating and using the litter box though. I wonder if they will ever trust me. It would be sad to have 3 cats that want nothing to do with me.

  1. Emmy, you have the best toy collection ever!

We are just heartbroken that Timmy had to go to the Bridge. We’re sening so much love and purrs to Dad Pete, and the whole family.

  2. The kitties and I are very sad about Timmy Tomcat too.
Emmy looks so cute with her toys. She’s a little darling!
As for your three shy kitties, I thought they had been living outside and were probably feral? My mom brought a number of feral kitties into her house and we had one too, Pretty Girl. Most of those kitties did eventually become friendly although it took a long time. XO

    1. Thank you- I agree about Emmy. Yes, they were all outside for 3 years so I am sure it will take time. I just hope they adjust. XO

  3. What a week…lets hope the next one is better…

Timmy’ passing has left a huge void…but he will never ever be forgotten.

I think Miss Jackie is home again, but her health issues continue to be of concern. Keep the prayers coming to her. We are too.

Good news for Emmy about her heart. Those are cute toys she has to play with.

I sure hope that maybe one day your three ‘guests’ will see that they are loved and enjoying a better life so they just might decide to like you…even a wee bit!

I am so far behind, I am sort of just ‘starting up’ at today…

  4. The 3 will come around in time; cats can be extremely patient. They just need time. I’m so glad that the ultrasound went well.

  5. I was very sad to hear about Timmy Tomcat.
That is a sweet photo of Emmy. I am glad her tests showed good results and hope her bloodwork is equally good.
Hopefully when Lucy 2, Ethel and Bridget realise you are not a threat to them and that you keep them well fed they will settle down and accept you. At least in the meantime you know they are safe.

    1. Very sad about Timmy. Thank you. I hope they fit in with my other cats. XO

  6. I’m sure the three new ladies don’t hate you – they are just terrified! They had surgery, came back to a place they don’t quite know and don’t quite trust yet – it’s a whole lot to process, especially if they had NO home before. I think in time they will not only be out from under the bed, they will be fitting in with their new family ! Patience is the key and YOU have tons of patience!!!!! Sending the girls a hug………

    Love, Teddy and Mom Pam

  7. That is good news about Emmy! She seems to be holding steady with her health. I hope the bloodwork turns out well, too.

  8. They will come out to you soon…I promise. Are you able to sit on the floor with some treats for a period of time with them each day and talk to them?

    1. Thank you. I am trying that. I was able to pet them again – because my arm is long enough to reach under the futon. No one hissed though. XO

  9. Very happy to hear the good news that Emmy’s heart has remained stable for the year and that her blood pressure is good. I am sure Emmy loves her sloth and lizard! I am also sure Lucy2, Ethel, and Bridget will realize they are safe and in a home where they are loved and cared for. It is going to take some time which I know that you realize. Hugs to you!

  10. Emmy is a cutie! Glad she is doing well. I think the kitties will calm down after a few weeks. It will just take some time.

  11. Awww, my condolences to Timmy Tomcat’s Dad and siblings. ❤️ I hope, Lucy 2, Ethel and Bridget come around. It may take a while for them to overcome their fears.

  12. Lovely selfie ! We’re so sad for Timmy, and we’re worried for Sawyer : we cross our paws and hope he comes back home quick and safe ! Purrs

  13. Glad to hear Emmy is doing well. I hope you get good results from her bloodwork.

When we took Oreo and Cookie home, we put them in the guest room and they mostly hid under the bed. It took awhile for them to trust us and come out. They won’t come out if other people are here, but now they trust us completely. I think your crew just needs some more time.

    Have a great Sunday.

  14. So glad to hear that you’re fine, Emmie and we’re sure the three little birds…eh. kitties will get used to the new situation in no time and will love your mommy as well, like you all do. Pawkisses for a Happy Sunday to all of you 🐾😽💞

  15. I’m sure they will adjust in time! Our angel cat Conrad spent his first two weeks with us under the bed, after we brought him home from the shelter. He had been feral before he ended up there. He was always skittish with strangers (until he got much older) but he warmed up to us nicely in time. ♥

  16. Emmy, we are so glad you got a good report and that your calm traveling was rewarded with some toys you like.

We hope the 3 scaredys get over hating Mom soon !

  17. Lookin so-o adoorabell Emmy! Yore Lizard an Sloth are purrty kewl toyss!!
Pawss crossed that Lucy Two an Ethel an Bridget will come ’round an know that you only want to take care of them Miss Ellen!
Wee so wurried ’bout Sawyer….mee hopess Aunty an Unkell find him soon….
    **purrss** BellaDharma an <3 LadyMew

  18. Step by step with the youngsters. These things take time.

I am working my way though the Kitties Blue comments to find selfie folk I usually visit (I have NO memory at ALL!).

  19. A sweet selfie with new toys. Great news about her blood pressure, and we’ll keep our paws crossed that her blood test results are all good.

  20. Emmy, we are glad you passed the Dr tests with flying colors! And Ellen, you are so good with cats, I know you will break though to the 3. They are still adjusting to their new circumstances and the do have each other. Its just going to take a little longer.

  21. I’m glad Emmy got a good report. It does take time for community cats to warm up to humans so just keep working on them.

  22. Purring for Emmy, and we are very sad about Angel Timmy.
As for cats who hide, this is a marathon, not a sprint!
Perhaps spending some time in the room with them, as you read a book, and maybe toss out a kibble or two.
Patience, and understand that their world went tip over teakettle, and they don’t know what’s up right now.
But you know this, and you’ve got this!

  23. Thank You so very much for posting my beautiful Badge. You are true friends. We are sending tons of purrs to keep Emmy feeling well and that the little ones come around. For some it takes longer but they will
    Angel Timmy Tomcat

  24. Don’t worry, Ms. Ellen. Lucy2, Ethel, and Bridget will warm up soon. You’re pawsome! Purrs, Snoops and Kommando Kitty

  25. Timmy Tomcat’s dad and siblings have been in our purrs and prayers. Fly high, sweet Timmy.

And I am so glad Emmy is doing well! She deserves her adorable new toys, that’s for sure!

As for Lucy 2, Ethel, and Bridget, they remind me of some of the kitties my parents have. These kitties joined the family quite feral, but over time they’ve warmed up. They love my parents now, and a couple of them even seem to enjoy sitting with me or even on me when I visit. The main issue being that these kitties do not cooperate well for things like nail trims and being medicated. Other than that, though, my parents’ previously feral kitties are now pretty social. I bet your sweet Lucy 2, Ethel, and Bridget will warm up to you very soon, especially once they realize just how wonderful of a home they now have. Purrs!
