Silvervine Powder costs a lot of Gold

Happy Monday Everyone! Today is product day and I am still on a silvervine kick. A couple weeks ago I purchased the catnip/silvervine mix which the cats enjoyed. Then someone filled me in on the comments, that Nip and Bones has the pure stuff. A small package is $7.95 plus shipping. I was going to make my kitties wait ’til Christmas….

Luckily the kitties have a fantastic Grammie so she ordered some up for Joanie and Sammy’s brithday gift. The good news is it is very potent and ALL 15 cats love it !The bad news is when I poured the package into an empty spice jar this is how much there was: 016012.I feel bad that their Grammie didn’t get much for her money, but she did make her grandkitties happy. A couple months ago, I bought about this much cardamon at Whole Foods and they gave it to me for free because it was such a small amount.

Here is another one of Lucy’s past costumes from the year Princess Beatrice wore a hat like this to the Royal wedding:blog8.

Sammy wants to thank all his friends at Scouts, he thought he was going to celebrate October Birthdays and they included him too because he wasn’t in Scouts when they had the September party. Look at this neat photo of them by the camp fire: sammypartyWhat a sweet bunch of kitties.

  1. Silvervine seems to be more potent than catnip so a smaller amount “works” better!! I myself don’t react at all to catnip but I DO to silvervine…..interesting huh? I’m glad Sammy had fun at the Scouts party – we just HAD to include him since he missed out on the September Birthday Scouts celebration!

    Hugs, Sammy

    1. That was so sweet of you to include him after having a party just for him on his birthday. That is interesting that catnip doesn’t do it for you. I have one cat, Prancie, who goes nuts for celery like it was catnip. Do you know of a place to get silvervine cheaper?

  2. Glad Sammy had a good time at da pawty and glad hims wuz supwised. And yep dat silvervice duz cost a bunch. Meez not know why weez can’t gwo it here like catnip. Maybe mommy might hav to look into dat. Hmmmmmm now dat’s an idea.

    Luv ya’

    1. My hubby was hoping the silvervine would have some seeds in it to try to grow, but it was ground up and looked like cinnamon- good thing it didn’t smell like that or I would be suspicious.

    1. Hope you get to try silvervine someday. Sammy said to tell you he is excited about the fishing trip Thursday.

  3. We were given silvervine as a gift once and we did like it. But when we researched it , it did seem expensive next to catnip so our Mama didn’t get us more! Meanie! :p

  4. You only just need a bit of silver vine to get a good effect! It is probably so expensive because it has to be imported from Asia.

  5. Your post prompted mom to do some research. We will have a garden and a yard when we move so mom may look at growing a couple of these vines on our fence. I love the nip so this sounds most interesting to me!

    1. I hope you can grow it, we would like to, but I doubt it would survive in New England. At least we can grow catnip.
