Penny’s Tips Volume 90

Hi everyone! I am going to tell you how to make a fake mistletoe because the real stuff is very poisonous to cats. Of course, you probably won’t get much use out of it this year with COVID and all, but the good part is this mistletoe will last for years.

All you need is some heavy green paper ( card stock), a template, scissors and some pompoms. A pretty ribbon too.

I found two free printable templates. One is on the blog, Craft Lumber Jacks. That is the one we used because it was bigger so it was easier for mom to cut out. To get that one, Click here.

Club crafter also has one, it is much daintier, but mom is not good at cutting. If you prefer that, click here.

All you do is print out the template, cut it out, trace it onto green paper, you can use different shades. Then staple them together, add a ribbon and some pompoms then it is ready to test out.

I know who I want to test it out on.

My Dad. Who did you think I wanted to smooch?

  1. My human’s ex brought home some mistletoe once, not realizing how toxic it was for cats. Boy, did that go in the trash at record speed! He probably got kissed anyway, but from then on, it was only fake mistletoe.

  2. Very clever! There is actually some real mistletoe growing in a tree not far from our house but sadly all the branches it’s on are WAY TOO HIGH for us to reach! The fake stuff still works for kisses though!

      1. It’s funny, Ellen! It looks like no one else has commented and I am all alone. My comment went through even though it looks like it evaporated. This morning I got email notice for your Wednesday post about Brody and there is no Brody or Wednesday post here. There is a gremlin some place and it isn’t Gremmie… Hahahaha! I just wanted you to know I am trying.

        1. I better see if Joanie’s pet Gremlin is wreaking havoc. Last night, I checked my tablet before bed to see how many comments were there and there was no Wed. post so I thought I forgot to hit publish. I ended up turning my laptop back on and checking, bt it was there. For some reason unknown to me it shows up differently depending on the device. XO

  3. How fun and it’s safe for all the kitties. Well done, Penny.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Big hug to the mom and scritches to all the kitties. ♥

  4. What a terrific idea! Mom loves it, but I, Marvelous, am NOT a big kisser (or hugger, I still HAT|E being touched!)

  5. Very clever!!! There won’t be any one coming through our doors for Christmas either, but we would like to put one of those up for Mom and Dad:)
