Hi everyone! Thank you all for the purrs and prayers.
Please keep them coming. I am better, but not 100 %.
Earth Day is coming up this month so I want to give you some tips on disposing of things that won’t cost you money and they will be reused instead of going to the landfill.
First off, clothes- unless you have something beyond repair and filthy, there is a place for it. If the clothes are still wearable you can donate to The Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc. Or list them in the free section of Craigslist or a Buy Nothing Facebook Page. A lot of towns around here have bins to put stuff in and the town gets pain per pound. Some even let you put shoes, pillows, blankets, towels and any linens in the bins.
Books are another thing that are easy to find homes for. Local libraries will usually take them for book sales. Most towns have bins for books that are tended to by Boy Scouts.
Some things are tricky like mattresses and box springs. Those usually cost a pretty penny (not me) to dispose of but some towns like ours will take them for free twice a year. They usually take them in April.
And did you know that Staples recycles old printers for free as well as laptops and computers. I think there is a fee for monitors, but the rest are free.
If you have any more ideas to add- please do in the comment section. Also, if you need to get rid of something I didn’t list, let me know and I will research it for you.
Today is F day on The A-Z Blogging Challenge.
F is for our ferals, Bridget, Ethel and Tuffy. After almost 5 years, they still won’t let us touch them. They are usually in the same room with us and they will interact through toys, but no touching.
You saw Ethel yesterday. And here are Bridget and her son, Tuffy.
F is for Friday too.
We are joining Comedy Plus’ Happy Tuesday Blog Hop

We’re so glad you feel better, Penny! You look mighty pretty! We’ll keep purring for your total recovery and wellness! I think you’re doing very well with the ferals Bridgett, Ethel, and Tuffy! We had ferals who would never consider coming in the house with us! XO
Thank you. 🙂 Mine would not have chosen to come in, but I did TNR ( well, no R). XO
Mama has been on the road and so hasn’t been able to send comments to you and she’s glad that Penny is feeling better and thank you for the tips on recycle. We still do not have Internet yet, but we’ll try to send comments as best we can …good thoughts for Penny.
NO worries. I hope she is having a good time. XO
Glad Penny is doing better. Let’s hope it all clears up sooner than later.
Good reminders for what to do with ‘stuff’. Our public works dept has several times a year events to get rid of various things.
We can also volunteer every fall to help with cleaning up the local rivers of junk that thoughtless peeps leave in and around the water. Our sons used to do that as part of their highschool programs.
Sometimes our church will collect used shoes and boots for charity that sends them to places where they do not have easy access to footwear.
At least your ferals are living a much better life indoors. 😽
Thank you. 🙂 Yes, they are safer. XO
I am glad you are getting better, Penny and hope it continues. We have clothes banks here which are collected by the Salvation Army. All good tips, Penny.
Sweet photos of Bridget and Tuffy, and of Friday too.
Thank you. 🙂 XO
We have high hopes that Penny gets better and better on her way to “PERFECT”. We used to have bins around town for clothes but they took them all away for some reason. We do have a Goodwill store but you have to catch it open (it’s only open a few hours on a few days). People LOVE to donate to those who need things – but when there’s few options open, it’s tough! We drive a long way to get to another town that is more “donation friendly” …….thankfully we have THAT option.
Hugs, Pam and Teddy
Thank you. 🙂 There are a lot of bins around here and sadly people dump junk like mattresses by them so maybe your area had the same problem. XO
I’m glad you’re feeling better, Penny. We donate decent stuff to the Salvation Army or Goodwill. Cute pics of the ferals, and Friday.
Thank you. 🙂 XO
Great list of ways to dispose of things without simply putting them in the trash. I’ve used almost all of these ways in the past. Love the pictures of the kitties of course. And at least those three are in the house and they know they are well taken care of.
Thank you. 🙂 XO
We knew that about Staples, we have taken our fair share of broken printers to them. Great tip for getting rid of stuff, Penny. Glad you are feeling better. I will send prayers and positive thoughts for 100% better! Friday still looking good in her red scarf. I am thinking the ferals stick together. Penny, well done on the tips today.
I keep trying with my comments.
OhMyGosh… I made it!
YAY!
Thank you for the prayers. XO
Penny the most important part is that you are better. I am surprised the ferals aren’t less feral now after all this time. Not being able to touch them is sad for you and for them AMVETS here is another that will come and get whatever it is, but it can’t be just junk or refuse of course.
I wish the AMVETS would pick up here. xO
Check with your local municipality or county: they often have recycle days or lots.
You know that we love ferals, and Henry is doing a great job of proving that he’s no housecat and is hiding under the clawfoot bathtub where I cannot get him.
Am worried; no meds will help him if I cannot get them into him.
Henry is in my prayers. XO
Local animal shelters take towels and blankets and any leftover pet items. We got rid of two hard shell carriers a couple weeks back. They also take cleaning supplies too.
Good tip. I forgot about that. My folks donated a lot of towels to our shelter and newspapers too. XO
We continue to purr for Penny. Those are some great tips for disposing stuff. The Lady is currently on a rampage of getting rid of stuff here.
Thank you. 🙂 Kuddos to her for decluttering.
Glad to hear you’re doing better, Penny. We’ll ramp up our POTP for you. Feel better, sweetie.
Thank you for the POTP. XO
Charlee: “We’re glad you’re feeling better, Penny! We will keep up the purrs until you reach 100%!”
Lulu: “And we dogs will keep up the tail wags!”
Chaplin: “Our Dada has got a whole garage shelf full of old printers and computer things and stuff with batteries that he claims he is going to take in for recycling, but he hasn’t done it yet. Probably because he would need a truck to haul it all …”
Thank you. 🙂 He could do a few every week.
Prayers for Penny. Always.
Great ideas. Our library won’t take books so we leave them at the post office. It’s a great place to make sure the books are read by others.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Love and hugs to Ellen and scritches to all the kitties. ♥
Thank you for the prayers. Never thought of leaving books at the post office. XO

I’ll keep the prayers coming, for sure. ~hugs~ And you are a pretty Penny! Your folks are such good kitty parents. ~nods~ I tend to box up clothes and household items for a military veteran’s foundation; they have a pickup service, even, which is nice. Be well and thanks for the tips!
Thank you for the prayers. If we had a military foundation near me, I would do the same. XO
Great tips! I’ve been getting rid of a lot through my local Buy Nothing group too. I’m glad your ferals will at least be in the room with you even if you can’t touch them.
Thank you. 🙂
