Hi everyone! Happy New Year to you all.

Before I tell you some money saving tips, I must tell you all that my mom has lost her mind. She has brought another cat home named Penelope and she is downright scary. She was not happy with her breakfast yesterday so she chased mom right out of the room.

I am going to tell you some things my folks do every January when they decide to try to save some money.

First thing, they call around to the local trash removal companies and find the lowest price one to switch to. Sometimes they tell the price to their current trash place and they match it, but this year they didn’t so my folks are switching.

Then mom calls the cable company and says she wants to lower the bill and they come up with something lower than they are currently paying. They could just ditch cable and save a lot of money, but they won’t do that.

  4. Penny, we humans do these things so we can have extra money to buy extra kitty toys, kitty food, and kitty treats. I would much rather spend the extra money on my kitty than the cable bill and the trash pickup, etc.

  5. Sweet Penelope, settle down in your new loving home! Good tips, Penny. We cut the cable years ago and use Roku. We pay only what we subscribe to and can cancel anytime. It’s a great feeling.

  7. I might have to try some of those ideas…especially if NC Ins is successful at their attempt to raise homeowner’s ins by 40%. JUST PLAIN CRAZY.

  12. We wish we could shop around for trash service. We have to use what our city provides. If you have a Kindle, I just learned that about four times per year, Amazon has a “stuff your kindle” day, with lots of book freebies and deals. our mom got a few books at the end of the December for just one dollar.

  17. Penelope sounds like a pistol! I don’t have my trashed picked up. I bring it to the dump myself. SO, SO much cheaper. I used to get better deals on cable but not lately. One of these days I’m getting rid of it.
