Penny’s Tips Volume 134

Hi everyone. Thank you for the purrs and prayers for Emmy. I thought I’d let her tell you about her road trip before my post.

I had a long day. We left at 7:30 am and got home at 4 pm. My appointment was at 10:30 and we were there at 10:15. I had to have an echocardiogram and a blood pressure check. My bp was out of control because I was taken off the Amlodipine a couple weeks ago. I am now back on it. Mom and Grammie had the nerve to go to lunch because it was going to be a while until the vet could drain the fluid from around my heart. And they didn’t even bring me any food. And all I got for the long trip was this catnip heart. The ride was twice as long so I should have gotten 2 toys. At least mom doesn’t sing when she is with Grammie.

Sorry Emmy, that sounds like an awful day.

Mom has been decorating for fall. She really loves fall most of all. I found some freebies online to help you decorate and get some fall cleaning done. I hope mom gets the hint with the cleaning list.

The Clutterbug Blog has 5 free printables. Some of the printables on the site cost money, but if you scroll down, you will see the free fall ones as well as some other freebies. Click here.

And the blog, Adore Them Parenting has 30 free Fall signs to print and frame for your walls. Click here.

And now some words from mom- Cats with congestive heart failure live 6-18 months. I already know Emmy is on borrowed time with that liver growth, but even 6 months sounds good right now. The cardiologist upped her dose of diuretic, but we need to be careful because she has stage 3 of kidney failure. Poor kitty has so many issues She is such a sweetie though. I will do anything I can to have more time with her.

We are joining Comedy Plus’ Happy Tuesday Blog Hop

Tomorrow we will have some photos of Rosie helping home school Gremmie.

  1. Sounds like a wearing day for everyone. Emmy’s a little trooper. Thanks for the tip, Penny. Ellen, I hope you have as much time as possible with Emmy. XO

      1. I also take Lasix. It’s an excellent diuretic. We had a cat that was taking Propulsid until the FDA pulled it off the market. At the time, they were trying to get it approved for veterinary use. But yes, humans and kitties can take a lot of the same medicine (but not aspirin or a lot of other NSAIDs).

        1. In the past, I had cats on 1/2 baby aspirin, but it can damage kidneys. There is a new blood thinner for cats, Clopidogrel that is safer.

  2. Oh, dear, little Emmy, maybe even my cousin as a Tuxie, we are so sad for your problems and sad for your mommy. I hope you have time with your mommy and lots of snuggles. Being ill is so difficult and painful….

  3. Dear Emmy (and her Mom!) have a lot to deal with. We continually pray for her and hope she is with her family for as long as possible. We know she’s in the best hands possible. HUGS!

    Love, Teddy

  4. Sending purrs prayers and POTP. Emmy we know your mom will do what’s best for you.

  5. Aww Emmy that does sound like a long day and no foods is hard to overlook! I am thinking there was a good reason for that and your catnip heart with hugs and kisses on it was for making up for the whole day. Funny about your Mom’s singing. I will continue to pray for Emmy. I so understand you wanting to have more time with her. Penny we certainly know how much your Mom loves fall and Halloween. Your tips are sure to help her!

    1. I manage to get all the meds into her by mushing them into some gravy and syringing it in. XO

  6. CHF is silent and quick. My Hazel was diagnosed and died on the same day. She also had a large inoperable tumor pressing on her lungs and heart so she was very uncomfortable. She had had a clean bill of healthy one month before. The vet missed both CHF and the tumor. She was relatively young — 12. It was very sad. The vet had said they could help eek out another 6 months with the CHF but not with the tumor. RIP Hazel! Hugs for Emmy and we all wish her the best.

    1. I am sorry about Hazel, that must have been awful. I am hoping for at least 6 months, but the liver growth is getting bigger. XO

  7. I am sorry that the trip only got you one toy! Hopefully things will ease up for Emmy, but if not then do not dispair. The joy of a good life had now, honest, kind to others and true, will mean a better life to come.
    Gentle purrs
    ERin.
