Nosey Rosie’s Gabfest

Hi everyone! Happy New Year!!! Do your folks kiss you at the stroke of midnight?

My folks watch the ball on tv drop then they kiss. Then they run around kissing all of us. I think they are a bit crazy.

And mom makes black-eyed peas and says they have to eat them on New Year’s Day for good luck. I am a bit confused because they look more like beans and they don’t have eyes so I think mom cooked the wrong thing.

SO last Wednesday The Great One and Typhoid Mary were here. Typhoid Mary wasn’t feeling well so they were watching tv in the bedroom. And when I hear a tv, I come out looking for my red string. They let me see it for a minute then they hogged the tv so I stood in front of it and blocked it for a while. I did let The Great One Pet me. I kind of like her, but don’t tell anyone.

The girls did open their clinic to all The North Pole visitors. They have a medical, dental and eye clinic. Typhoid Mary refused to see The Grinch for his enlarged heart. She said he is evil. Mom told her doctors have to see everyone, but she would not. I think he needs to sue.

Well, that is all for this week. Penny will be here next week with money saving tips for the new year. Mom would like some money-making tips instead, but Penny is about pinching pennies (as long as no one pinches her).

I wish you all a happy and healthy year!

  1. Sounds like New Year’s was great fun at your house, Rosie! Excellent observation about the so-called black-eyed peas! XO

  2. Happy New Year, Rosie and family. We always kiss at midnight too, then we go to the memorial garden and wish the boys and the other cats there a Happy New Year.

  3. Rosie, I think it sounds like the girls were having quite a time being doctors and nurses. You can never turn away a patient even if they don’t have insurance. I did wake up at midnight and went to find precious and give her a kiss then.

  4. Rosie, kisses are a tradition for bringing in the new year, and eating blackeyed peas bring good luck. Our Callie hid all night because of the loud fireworks. I’m glad you kind of like The Great One.

    1. Poor Callie. We are lucky most don’t do fireworks here, it is too cold. XO

  5. Sounds lovely. Everyone here was fast asleep at midnight. We have pork and sauerkraut for New Year’s Day. It’s an old German custom.

  6. Rosie, I can certainly tell you that black-eyed peas are better than creamed herring at the stroke of midnight which is the handed down tradition we do. Although I’m thinking you would like the herring. We bury the herring between two Triscuits and then quickly follow that with a chocolate chip cookie.
I won’t say a thing about you kinda liking The Great One 😉

  7. Charlee: “Mama and Dada weren’t here when the ball dropped in Times Square, they were around the corner at their friends’ house, but they came back not long afterwards.”
Chaplin: “Yeah there were fireworks going off and they wanted to be here to help Lulu stay calm.”
Lulu: “I was calm! I was cool! I was collected!”
Charlee: “You were hiding under the desk.”
    Lulu: “That too!”
Oona: “So midnight is when the ball drops?”
Java Bean: “Ayyy, no, that’s 9pm here in California. But since Mama and Dada are from New York they call it New Year’s and pack it in for the night at that point.”

  8. Happy New Year, Rosie! I’m just like your mom and tried giving kisses to everyone here. I wasn’t very successful but New Years was still fun.

  9. They should see the Grinch and tell him his bigger heart is a good thing, it holds more love.

I hope you will continue to let the girls pet you and you will be able to hold more love, too, for them.

May you all have a wonderful first week of 2024!

  10. I’m lucky Rosie! My Mom and Dad took Levi to our Aunt Judy and Uncle Bill’s house and they did all of their kissing there! I waited by the door for them to come home and when they came in they all forgot to kiss ME!!!! But……..Mom made up for it because she petted me and petted me while she watched TV last night. Happy New Year to all of you! Love, Roary

    1. Sorry you didn’t get kissed when they came in. Happy New Year to you and your family. XO and love to you.

  11. We slept through the new year as we always do. I do remember staying back in the day and kissing hubby. That was a long time ago.

We don’t do the black eyed peas either, but I know it’s for good luck.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to all the kitties and a hug to mom. xo ♥

  14. Rosie we had spicy blacked peas here, collards and pork chops.
We can barely hold our eyes open til 10 so we did not see the new year in. MOL MOL
    Hugs Cecilia

  15. Rosie, so you know, I don’t get notifications any longer and I can’t click your Mom’s blog name any longer. I have to go to a saved address If it isn’t one thing it’s another. But mom and I still love everyone in the house. Mom said she will put a sticky up here on the computer to make sure she hunts up the address and gets here. Mom and I slept straight through the New years Day midnight celebration!!

  16. O yes, Rosie, they are midnight kissers and early morning kissers and all in between…MOL…Granny and Grandpaw didn’t make it through the night this year, they were both so tired, so we got extra kissies in the morning and Granny snoozed us in sleep before the big bam boom started🎊Happy New Year sweetie🎇 Extra Pawkisses for all of you🐾😽💞

  17. I think that’s nice how everyone gets a kiss. I was asleep before midnight, but did kiss Scout in the morning.

  18. The Grinch definitely does need to sue. I kissed Mudpie at midnight!

  19. Well, Happy New Year to your entire household, Ellen! Dad says he and mom typically kiss to ring in the new year if they’re awake, but failed to make it this year. Here’s to a fabulous 2024. Hopefully.
