Sunday with Phoebe

Hi, this is Phoebe-today is not a happy Sunday. We were all sad to hear of the loss of Nylablue- our purrs and  prayers are with her family.

This week is Thanksgiving and I want to tell you what happened to us last year right after Thanksgiving. A little elf showed up the very next day and said he was watching us every day to make sure we were good. He was going to fly back to the North Pole at night and give Santa reports on our behavior. Well, we didn’t like that idea because we can be a little naughty from time to time. So we all chased that little sucker around like a mouse-this is how it ended:

elfMommy went to LOLCATS and made this. We never saw him again and I don’t think he will be back. I know we are a little naughty, but that is part of our job description as cats. Last year Joanie got coal in her stocking: 006

It was just a joke though, it was good coal- the catnip kind. My first giveaway is going to be 2 pieces of catnip coal. To enter, just comment today or tomorrow and tell me the naughtiest thing you ever did. I will pick who I think is the naughtiest and have mom mail the coal to you. Next week I will have another giveaway that the winner can pick a crocheted gift for their mom or dad.

Here is a Sammy selfie: 018he has cute freckles on his nose.

We are participating in Selfie Sundays:Cat4

And this is my new scarf mom made for me: 009I can’t wait for Thanksgiving to spend time with my Grammie.

  2. HAHA on the elf! I might have to banish Elfvis to my litterbox for the holidays – he’s quite a little devil. I love the coal in the stocking – CUTE!!!! So is the new scarf you got Phoebe. Isn’t it nice to have a Mom who is so talented and makes such fun things???? We love Sammy’s freckled nose – I have freckles on my pawpads…..we gingers are full of freckles!

Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving with your Grammie…..
    Love, Sammy

  3. Hahahaha! We like that Elf in the litterbox.
    Well, his hat anyway 😉
We are not too naughty, except for JJ who likes to try and steal Mom’s foods 😉

  4. I didn’t know Nylablue, but I’m always sad to hear of a kitty’s passing. 🙁

Kitties being naughty? Theo takes that cake in our place – he’s always after food. I’ve shared a few of the stories before, like this one (http://www.fourwhitepaws.net/2011/10/for-love-of-corn.html) where he stole a full corn cob from the stove and chowed it down. If food is not secured somehow, he’s all over it – he’s especially fond of corn products – fresh, chips, popped, cornbread, whatever! His obsession with corn probably started from him growing up as a kitten in cornfields where he was abandoned until we rescued him.

    1. Wow, I guess he likes his corn-we will read that story about him. I am glad he got rescued and has a great forever home.

  5. Luv da Sammy selfie, him’s so cute. 1. That was naughty, but I am sure it was an accident. I am glad no one got hurt. Sammy says thank you- he is blushing 🙂

  6. That is a lovely selfie Sammy.
My mum used to have 2 little robins that she put on the Christmas tree every year. One day she looked at the tree and thought one of the robins looked strange. He was naked! Some cat had climbed the tree and pulled his felt and feather suit off him. She blamed me because I have always been a better tree climber, and also Eric was a lot bigger than me and the tree would most likely have fallen over if he climbed it. When she took the tree down she found the mangled feather suit amongst the branches.

  7. Hmmm… If that ol’ elf shows up at MY house, I’m gonna remind him that he’s just the size of a mouse. Then, I’m gonna do what cats with mice are known to do. You get my drift, I am sure.

  8. Oh Phoebe
What a cute post. I came to live her at 2 months old and was an absolute doll baby. Between 6 and 9 months old I was very very naughty. The peeps came on to find me sitting on top of the Grandfather clock (my launching pad was from the stairs) . When the walked in the door, I greeted them with a MEOOOOOW..as if to say hey look at me…THEN…NAUGHTY ME STARTED GNAWING ON THE WOODEN FINIAL ON TOP OF THE CLOCK. THERE WERE TOOFIE MARKS IN THE FINIAL TOO. They had to wrap the clock, which could not be moved, with a quilt secured with Duct tape until MOM FIND SOMETHING TO PUT ON THE STAIRS AT THE LAUNCHING SPOT TOO. I ALSO jumped on the back of a chair, WALKED ACROSS THE MANTEL, JUMPED ON TOP OF THE 8′ SECRETARY AND GNAWED ON THAT WOOD TOO. They had to move the chair to the middle of the room until I lost interest in the mantel. Mom also bought me a 6′ cat tree that solved my desires to be on high places. MOL MOL MOL
I bet you are sorry you asked!!
    HUGS MADI YOUR BFFF

    1. Wow!! I would have never guessed you were ever naughty. Right now you are in the lead in the contest.

  9. Sounds like you have a very rude elf in your house if it’s always watching you.

Your orange furs look wonderful with the green scarf accent.

I earned my Naughty Badge about 8 months after being adopted. I tried to wake mom to come play with me, but she was being lazy and wouldn’t get out of bed. Since I had to amuse myself, I thought I’d conquer the tallest bookcase in dad’s office. I got on top, but accidentally knocked over a Galilean Thermometer – the glass thermometers filled with oily liquid and floating things that show the temperature. The sound of breaking glass made mom come running. Luckily I was ok, and so were the important books in dad’s office. I didn’t get in trouble, but mom had lots of cleaning to do and we had to explain to dad what happened. The funny thing is, that was the only glass object in the house, and I found it!

It would be nice if you thought this was the naughtiest story, but I don’t react to catnip so I don’t want to be considered for the catnip coal. Kitties who enjoy catnip should get that honor. I just wanted to share my naughty story with you.

    1. That is a very naughty story. The funny thing is our Millie broke our Galilean thermometer and that stuff is oily inside- I still have a stain on the braided rug that would never come out. I am glad your dad’s important books didn’t get ruined. I didn’t know you don’t react to catnip-poor you.

  10. Mom says freckles on noses are guides to where the kisses should be planted!!!

OMC….that coal sounds pawsome!! You sure have some excellent giveaways!!

    The Florida Furkids

    1. Thank you, I am glad you like the giveaways- Phoebe came up with this one all by herself. Good idea to kiss the freckle spots 🙂

  11. We think that elf got off lucky. He may have gotten shredded! Maggie has pushed a cookie jar off the counter and broken it. She has broken clocks, glasses, dishes, and many things by pushing them off of tables, dressers, counters, etc. Chloe Jo is always into something. She tends to be more of a chewer, though. Grizelda is very good though a little bit of a thief, sometimes.

    1. Sounds like you have a lot of naughty kitties. One of our cats wakes us up every morning by knocking things off the bureau so we only put unbreakables there now.

  12. We wouldn’t tell Mom who did it, but she thinks it was Lisbeth. She pushed a very large Murano glass vase filled with water and flowers off the kitchen counter just to watch it shatter. Oh, what a delightfully huge mess it made. Mom is crazy for kitty noses and thinks Samy has a great one. Thank you so much for joining and supporting our blog hop. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  13. The best “naughty” we know of is when The Baby chewed though a power saw cord! And…it was plugged in at the time. Mommy still wonders how she managed to not electrocute herself. All the cords are covered at our house now!

    1. That was naughty, I am glad The Baby didn’t get hurt. Smart idea to cover all the cords now, she must have used up one of her 9 lives already.

  14. I am not sure I know how to BE naughty. Now The Kid Sage, she has a pretty good naughty gene in her DNA. Mom was eating a nice Sunday morning breakfast, using her lap tray, sitting on the couch, watching football with Dad. She had some apparently yummy looking fried eggs on her plate and Sage had never tasted fried eggs but really wanted to…so when Mom looked up, Sage stood on her hind paws like a woofie, and reached her claw fork into Mom’s plate and hooked it into a whole fried egg. She was caught before she flipped it to the floor for close inspection. Crazypants Sage!

    1. Sage does sound naughty, you would think she would be good from watching your example.

  15. That elf hat in the litter made us all laugh out loud! We are collectively so naughty over here we don’t even know where to start! Angel Lewis used to turn on the t.v. in LP’s room at night and somehow knew to tap on the volume so that is was at its’ highest. The first time it happened it woke LP up and she thought someone had broken into her room. Scared the pj’s off of her! The kittenbabies (Malou and Levon) once pushed an entire cooked chicken cooling on the kitchen counter to the awaiting dogs below who devoured it while I checked on laundry. Esme pushed a beautiful lamp off my bedside table just to watch it break! Esme has also over time pulled half the beads off a lampshade and then tossed them to the ground to watch them roll away.Malou and Levon have lifted paintings off the wall just to watch them fall to the ground. One painting had a glass framed which shattered as it hit the floor! Seriously, we could regale you for hours. We like to keep the humans entertained!! 🙂

the critters in the cottage xo

    1. Wow, you are definitely in the running for winning this contest- that is a lot of bad stuff. We have a cat that knocks stuff off the bureau, but never one that knocks paintings down- yikes.

  16. Boy, mom could help me tell you about the ones who came before me, but *I* am a good, no, gooder than gold, yes I am. Heeee.
