Happy Friday everyone! Today is National Feral Cat Day. I am glad there is a special day to bring their plight to everyone’s attention.
In my part of town, there isn’t a feral population. Any stray that I have ever found, I kept. I did get them all vet checked and asked around to be sure I wasn’t stealing someone’s cat ( although, I would if needed). There are feral populations in town that dedicated people care for. Last year, when my friend’s father told me he wanted to trap and move cats that were coming into his yard from the feral colony next door- I told on him. I alerted a lady in town that knew the lady that cares for them so she could make sure he didn’t do this.
I also know a lady in Boston that has cared for ferals for over 20 years. There was an article about her in the Boston Globe last year: link to Boston Globe.Β Her group is called Boston’s Forgotten Felines and can be found on Facebook . I try to donate to them as well as Alley Cat Allies as often as I can afford to.
I found Polar Bear in town, near a place I was cat sitting. He showed up several days in a row for food and he was easy to catch so I don’t know if he counts as feral, but he definitely has a wild side.
Sorry to hear of another loss in the Blogosphere: http://tt-themisadventuresofme.blogspot.com/
And please pray for Samantha’s Mom:

See you tomorrow for hopping and another giveaway on Sunday- eyeball themed.
We’re glad you tattled on that guy wanted to trap and move the ferals! Ferals have a soft place in our hearts and we try to do what we can to help them too although we don’t have any in our neighborhood. Our mommy and daddy took care of ferals in the alley behind their first house and one was hit by a car orphaning two itty bitty babies that Mommy found and of course adopted and raised! One of those kitties was Panther who lived 18 years and was the kitty right before us!
That was so kind of your Mom, I wish everyone was that sweet.
As far as I know, there’re no feral cats here – it’s too cold. That being said, I don’t really want to know how many abandoned cats are dying each winter. Mine were found in January, and I’m grateful that they got to a warm place in time.
I love this picture of Polar Bear!!
Nice to see you again, I miss your blog posts. I am glad your kitties were found before they froze and now they have a great home. Glad you like Polar Bear π
I was a feral kitten but I was lucky to be trapped and adopted when I was teeny, tiny so don’t remember much of the feral life. Lots of cats live their whole lives as ferals. Here’s to all of you wherever you may be – may you find your FOREVER like I did. An eye-ball themed giveaway???? Now THIS I’ve gotta see!!!!!
Love, Sammy
I wish every kitty was as lucky as you are Sammy. I wish they all could have homes, but I know some will always be afraid of humans. Nice pun- you need to SEE the eyeballs π XO
Paws up to you for doing all you can do to help the feral kitties. We purr that more humans will help.
Thank you π
We don’t see any feral kitties here either, but there are a lot of dogs in our neighborhood so maybe they steer clear of here.. Thank you for all you do for kitties!
Thank you π And the same to you too π
Thank you for rescuing so many and helping those kitties who need it most.
I wish I could help them all.
Weez so glad yous saved all yous fur babies. Mommy wuld gladly steal a baby ifin it needed it. And good fur you makin’ sure da feral colony stayed in tact. Have a gweat day.
Luv ya’
Dezi and Lexi
Thank you π Needless to say, those people that were going to move the cats don’t talk to me anymore- oh well π XO
