Mondays Are Good For Hopping

Hi everyone! Sorry if I squeeze so many hops into one post, but I love to hop and don’t want to miss any. Today we are joining one that I have only hopped in once before. Create with Joy’s Inspire me Monday is filled with great recipes and craft ideas. I thought it would be a great place to share button art.

Some of these are on canvas, but I also used blank cards for some too. This is a fun way to make Halloween cards. I drew a ghost on the black cards with chalk and then covered it over with white buttons and some pearls. For the pumpkins, I traced a circle on a white card and glued orange buttons over it. I didn’t have green buttons so I used turquoise.

I actually read 2 books about cats this week. One was awful , A Cat Called Hope by Oliver Clarke. I thought it was a true rescue story, but it was fiction about a man who abuses his family and the cat. I am glad it wasn’t a true story, but I found the descriptions disturbing and I am sure similar things do happen.

Peter The White Cat of Trenarren by Alfred Lestie Rowe published in 1974 is a great book that the author wrote about a beloved cat he had back in the 1950’s. Finding books like this are why I go to book sales.

One more book worth telling you about doesn’t include a cat, but it really makes one think. Unfinished Business by Lee Kravitz is about the author trying to right any wrongs of his past. At the end of the book is a toolkit to help you identify and unfinished business you may have. I just finished the book and I plan to use the toolkit.

And last, but not least is P.S.Annie’s 19-Somethin. The question of the day is When did you have your first microwave in your home and were you afraid it would make you sick?I don’t remember the exact year we got a microwave, but I know it was the early 1980’s and I was not afraid of it.

  3. You really are a hopper! We continue to think your button art is BEYOND fabulously creative…..way to go…..and everyone will love getting a FUN card like that for any occasion. Mom keeps saying she’s going to give button art a whirl but has she???? NO!!!!!! Happy Monday!

    1. Thank you, I am glad you like my button art. I have a lot of fun with it. It is hard to find buttons though so I have been doing small stuff. I think your Mom should try it, I am sure she could make a masterpiece. XO

I am very much so looking forward to Halloween, and your ghost button art really helped me get even more in the mood for it. That first book you mentioned does sound very disturbing to read, but the others sound great. And, you are always awww worthy, Joanie! Purrs to all of you!

  7. I love your button art and it really makes me want to try it! We weren’t allowed to have a microwave when we were growing up. And when we finally got one, I was told to stand far away from it when it was on!

  10. Finding a good, old cat book at resale shops or library book sales make me so happy! If I like it, it stays in my cat-book library. If I don’t, it goes into the donation pile (or I throw it away, if it’s really bad…) Funny, I didn’t read any books this weekend; guess there were distractions galore, like beautiful weather and purring kitties.

  13. Unfinished Business does sound like it would be a very interesting book to read. Book sales are great! There are lots of treasures in the Friends of the Library department of our library that are available for next to nothing. 🙂

  14. I am glad you flagged us off the one cat book. Who wants to read about that? I remember when we first sold microwaves. It would take two good sized men to deliver them. I think they had a lot of lead to them.

  18. MeOW awnty Ellen, we don’t know how you visit all those in da hops./ We hopped with Create With Joy once and couldn’t even make it through half da entries in a week. We’s not done it again. MOL Mommy ‘members their furst microwave and ‘members it cost over $600.00. OMC But it worked fur most of her life. She actually ended up with it as an adult and just furinally sold it a couple years ago cuz it was too heavy fur her to move ’round. And all she does in a mocrowave is warm up stuffs. We now have one dat costs less than $30.00. MOL Here’s to a great day.

  32. Our dad still tells our mom not to stand by the microwave when it is cooking. Mom got a blue frame to display our blue button cat, but we haven’t shown it on the blog yet.
