Mom Has Gone Batty

Hi everyone! My Mom has completely lost it this time. 100_9682 You know how I told you she cut up a book, well now it is up to 7 book fatalities. Is there some kind of book police I can call? She claims to be making something, but she must be stopped before any more books are destroyed.

I haven’t seen my Grammie all week- phooey!!! I love her so very much.

Today is my friend Sammy’s Poetry Day featuring the letter R:

Rain
I don’t like to complain
but, I hate the rain.
I always hide in the bed
I’ll even miss getting fed.
I won’t come out until it stops
until I am sure there are no more drops.

POETRYSAMBADGE

The word for #JHC is bat so my photo above is our submission.

Mom asked me to give you the fill-ins, she came up with the first 2 and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second 2.

My fill-ins:
1. It is good to have a spare __________________________.
2. I don’t understand why ____________________ is/are so popular.
3. The spookiest thing that ever happened to me was                                      .

4. My favourite Halloween tale is                                           .

Mom has 2 carriers out again, but I know I am safe because I just went to the vet last week.

  1. You are so creative! I really admire that. Are you donating these to an organization? They could be spray painted and decorated to use as centre-pieces. Big ones could be pumpkins, but little ones could be apples.

Your poem sounded like Shel Silverstein. Nice job!

Now I am worried about the cat carriers. Hugs! ❤

    1. Thank you, they are all going to be pumpkins. My hubby needs to spray paint them and then I will add stems and bows. I will give them to relatives and friends- and one to the librarian 🙂
Phoebe is glad you like her poem. Phoebe had to have a blood pressure check. XO

  2. Two PTUs out here as well…Fiona and Giulietta are off to the vet in the afternoon (if Mom can get Lisbeth out of the SleepyPod). Those books appear to be morphing into pumpkins. We will be interested in seeing the finished product. XOCK Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  3. We love your poem – but We can’t imagine letting a few drops of skywater stop Us feeding (mol).
Whatever can your human be doing to those books? How did they get twisted into such strange shapes? Do you think She is torturing them before murdering them? Maybe it is some strange kind of Halloween ritual…

    1. I guess she is making old books into pumpkins. I do get too scared to eat when it rains- I make up for it after it stops though.

  4. Cutting books 😮 That makes mum nervous too.
We are curious about the project though.
That poem is also neat. We d not like the rain either, even though we are indoor cats.
    Sunshine is nicer 🙂

  5. WOW Book-pumpkins are a totally cool idea and I bet she had some fun making those…….decorations for inside the house???? We’ll be filling in tomorrow and I LOVE LOVE LOVE your “ode to rain” today for Poetry day!

    Love, Sammy

    1. Thank you, I am glad you like my poem. Mom is going to have Dad spray paint them and then give some away- one to the librarian 🙂

  6. We simply can’t wait to see your mom’s final product with those books, Phoebe. You’re looking mighty adorable with that bat! We are sorry that you haven’t seen your grammie this week, but I bet she’ll make up for with lots of treats. Also, your poem is purrfect right about now. We got rain yesterday, and we know exactly how you feel. Purrs, and we’ll see you tomorrow for the fill-ins!

    1. Sorry you have been getting a lot of rain, we haven’t had much, but I hate it when we do. We look forward to your fill-in answers.

  7. Getting better and better on those poems. Don’t worry about the books. You don’t need the book police any time soon. Your Mom knows what she’s doing. I hope you Grammie will visit you soon too.

  9. OH NOES…two carriers? What can that mean? I HATE doing anything to books, however there are some really BAD books that I’ve accumulated that I would happily donate to the cause! Poorly written cat books, mostly…hehehehe

  10. What beautiful pumpkins your mom made. We hope she’s read the books cause she’ll have a hard time reading them now. Thank you for always posting the Friday Fill-Ins early so we can be organized tomorrow.

    Shoko and Kali
PS…don’t worry Phoebe you’ll see your gramma soon.

  11. Things are getting really festive at your house! Those book pumpkins are really cute. That is a great way to use some old book. 🙂 That bat is super cute too. Your mom is very talented!

  12. Very nice poem, Phoebe! Your Mom isn’t batty. I have heard of making crafts out of old books. I bet she’s going to have something pretty! I hope whoever is going in the carriers will be OK.

    1. I guess she is making pumpkins. I had to go to the vet again. I had a blood pressure check, it was the high end of normal, but I was nervous.

  14. Excellent poem! Like you, i don’t like rain, but i have to come out of bed and go to work. Also, i know it has to rain sometimes or the food won’t grow, so i put up with it.

  15. Oh my. Why is your mom cutting up books? I understand your distress! Unless they are already in dire straits, I couldn’t bring myself to cut one up. What is she making with them?

Aww I’m sorry. Maybe you’ll get to see Grammie very soon.

    Sammy’s poem is very nice.

That is a cute bat. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

    1. I guess she is making pumpkins, they were old travel books that no one would even want at a booksale. We hope you have a nice weekend too.

  16. OMC, what the…. why is your mom cutting up books? And why aren’t you stopping her? Your mom is becoming a book killer. Cutting up books in the name off art.

Wait until the revenge of the books is upon to her!

Nice poem and I hope you don’t have to go to the vet

    1. I wanted to call the book police, but no one had the number 🙂 I did go to the bet for a bp check.

  17. Those book pumpkins look good. I like your poem but I have to say that I quite enjoy sitting in the rain. After my mum has toweled me down for the second time, she makes me stay indoors.

  18. I saw an article on a harry potter themed wedding where the couple chopped up a whole host of hp books to make decorations, people were horrified. There is just something about a book that makes it more than it’s parts that people can’t stand to see them taken apart..

    But your pumpkins are adorable!

  19. Your Mom is making a whole pumpkin patch,Phoebe! Wowee!

We don’t care much for rain ether, but that’s because it takes our sunpuddles out of commision. Pipo will try to catch raindrops on the windowpane if the rain isn’t coming down with too much noise…
