Mewsic and More Monday

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays and Mewsic Moves Me (hosted by Curious as a Cathy,Xmas Dolly, JAmerican Spice and Stacy Uncorked.) The theme for this week s the word shadow in the title.

I immediately thought of Moon Shadow. I remember Mandy Moore singing it on This is Us so I looked for a video, unfortunately it only shows her signing for the last 30 seconds of the clip, but fans of the show will enjoy the whole thing.

And here is a video of her singing the entire song-

And Joanie is posing with our book choices of the week.We are joining Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading?

Thanks A Thousand : A Gratitude Journey by A.J.Jacobs is a short book with only about 100 pages to read and several pages of credits at the end. I am a fan of the author’s work and how he immerses himself in a subject. This time he wants to thank everyone that makes his morning cup of coffee possible. Amazingly, that is around 1,000 people. I never put that much thought into all that is involved in buying a cup of coffee. He even goes to the place where the beans were sourced from. Others thanked including the inventor of the plastic top on to-go cups, truck drivers, the barista and so many more. An interesting little read.

Born to Be Posthumous: The Eccentric Life and Mysterious Genius of Edward Gorey by Mark Dery is one i just started reading. I am not familiar with his work, but he was an illustrator and writer. I decided to read it because he had 6 cats so I immediately decided he was wonderful. He also owned 20,000 books. Sounds like a cool guy.

And in other news, Gremmie got some new clothes.

I bought this garland on clearance at Michael’s and pulled the clothes off for him. The doubles will go to The Great One for her dolls.

  1. You always have so many interesting things in your posts! From Gremmie clothes to what you’re reading to one of my favorite songs from my college days. I was so happy to hear that Cat Stevens has kind of reclaimed his early work and is even performing as “Yusef/Cat Stevens” again and performing his old songs after decades of disowning them. He was (is) such a talent. XOXO to all, Humans & felines too

  2. Nice sweater Joanie! I bet it’s nice and cozy and I think Gremmie is going to love his “tighty whiteys” (haha) and clothes too.

    Hugs, Teddy

  3. 1,000 people to make a cup of coffee?! I never thought about all the people involved, either. That’s really amazing!

By the way, we got your Tooth Fairy package in the mail! Thank you!!! We will do a post about it soon 🙂 <3

  4. EEllen,

‘Moonshadow’ is a lovely song. Speaking of the moon, did you see the super blood moon last night? We were under cloud cover and weren’t able to see this cool phenomenon.

That’s a cute garland! Quick thinking to dismantle it and use it for clothing for Gremmie. 🙂

Thanks for sharing the dance floor with the 4M gang. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

  5. Born to be Posthumous – what a clever title and, you’re right, if Mr. Gorey had six cats, he’s a good guy, plus 20,000 books! Sounds like the housekeeper! – Tom x

  6. Edward Gorey is one of my favorite illustrators. “Books. Cats. Life is Good.” Is a great quote attributed to him and also to T.S. Eliot, another excellent cat guy. I wonder who actually said it?
    xxoo

  7. Joanie is such a great poser and model. Huge aw.

Love Moonshadow. Haven’t heard that in years.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥

  8. Six cats and 20,000 books! Sounds like a goal! I hope you enjoy the biography. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  9. Nice tightie… er… not ‘whities’. ~grin~ Stripey blues? Heh… I didn’t know anyone but Cat Stephens recorded ‘Moonshadow’. Cool! Be well, my dears.

  10. I was inside all weekend, and I barely opened a book! Weird, huh? Shoveling snow only took up maybe a full hour of the weekend, so the rest of the time was spent petting kitties!

    1. I read a lot of books , nothing better to do in the cold. Well, petting kitties is actually better 🙂

  11. That’s a great song – we were following that moon last night despite the bitter cold!

Mom and Dad both love This Is Us – all the characters are their favorites if that is even possible:)

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  12. Thanks for sharing the videos. We love Mandy Moore. You have some of the best posts. Joanie has so good book choices for the week. We are going to check them out. Thanks for the share. Have a wonderful week.

  13. Moon Shadow is always a great tune around the campfire too don’t you think? When friends get together it’s a fun song to sing. Thanks for sharing your two versions of a very fun song & thanks for playing along with the 4M’s today! Stay warm & thanks for rockin’ along with us!

  14. I didn’t get into This Is Us when it began. Big mistake. Not sure I can catch up now. I love the song and videos! Thanks a Thousand looks like an interesting read. I believe most of us don’t realize what it takes to get items on shelves in the stores for us to buy! Hope your week is going well.

    1. I binge watched the first 2 seasons over the summer because I was late to the party 🙂

  15. I might be the only person in the United States never to have watched This is Us. The clip intrigued me, as did Mandy Moore singing “Moonshadow” because that song (for me) will always be identified with Cat Stevens. But, I will say that Mandy has the perfect voice for the song.

  16. Ohhhh! I’d forgotten about Mandy Moore singing Moon Shadow! Thanks for the reminder, I love it! 🙂 Thanks for the dance – hope you’re having an awesome weekend! 🙂
