It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading?

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww…..Mondays blog hop and The Book Date’s It’s Monday What Are YOU Reading? blog hop.

Millie is showing off the new pole Grammie got him and Penny for the kitchen. I was thrilled when I found out that I won Cat Chat with Caren and Cody’s giveaway for Brain Games for Cats by Claire Arrowsmith. It was like getting an extra Christmas gift.

This fun book is filled with games for active cats and those that are less active. Apparently you can teach your cat to wave and sit, I have yet to try that- I will let you know how that goes. I am especially interested in teaching Prancie to ring a bell. We have a bell on the nightstand that she rings in the morning by knocking it to the floor, but I would like to teach her how to ring it the proper way like Summer does.

I hope to do more reading now that the holidays are past us. I did write an article for The Daily Mewz about some excellent Christmas books with cats in them. I know Christmas is gone by, but if you want to extend it, you could read some of these. Click here.

  1. I love learning tricks, and I think lots of other kitties would enjoy it too – maybe with a little effort, Prancie can learn how to properly ring that bell!

  2. Happy First Monday of the New Year! I wish I had more time to read – I just need to make it a priority I suppose…..yeah – like THAT’s gonna happen! HAHA

    Hugs, Pam

    1. Reading is one of my favorite things to do so I schedule time to do it daily ( most days that is, the holidays I missed some days). XO

  3. BobbieSue is swooning over the photograph of Millie. She loves the two colors of his eyes. Mom is starting to read the new Harry Potter book the cursed child and I am sleeping the day away because it’s raining. We hope you have a wonderful day today.

    1. Millie is glad that BobbieSue likes his photo. His blue eye always comes out red which works great at Christmas. Someday I will read all the Harry Potter books, my niece has them all and all the dvds too. We hope you had a great day with your Mom. XO

  4. Awww, you’re a very good looking cat. Congratulations on your win.

I’m reading Red Door Inn. Pretty good so far.

Have a purrfect Awww Monday. My best to your wonderful mom. ☺

    1. Thank you. I am not familiar with that one, I will look it up on Goodreads. Hope you had a great day too.

  5. That seems something we should be reading! Happy New year again all of you dear ones. xxx

  6. Your grammie sure is the best! I thought this book sounded fantastic the second we heard about it, and I really need to get my hands on a copy of it. I wonder what tricks my kitties will be willing to learn. And I’m finishing out the Christmas season by reading The Silence of the Elves, which of course includes a festive kitty character. I added your recommended books to my to-read list, too! Purrs to all of you!

    1. That book sounds good to being that there is a cat in it 🙂 I am sure you could get your kitties to do tricks.

    1. I am glad your Mum finished the book and can now read to you my sweet boy. I am also glad you like the pickle 🙂 XO and paw kisses

  8. Happy Mew Year and glad you liked our Hanukkah Song. Joey can be so silly telling funny facts cause him am bored… After all him am a hero and like Flash the Hero Cat and he would rather be saving kitties than singing songs.

The Mom am reading Iris Grace, the story of Autistic girl saved by her Maine Coon cat, Thula. Furry Goods and Inspurrational.

    -Katie Kitty Too.

  9. We think tricks would be fun, too! And we bet our brother Quint would ace them all, including that bell trick and then, probably drive us all insane with constant dinging! Maybe we’ll talk our Mom into getting that book. Right now, she’s reading a big pretty book about the Pacific Crest Trail and hopes to finish it before she picks up The Idiot’s Guide to Speaking French before her beginning French class later this month. Not saying she’s an idiot or anything, but…. if the book fits…. MOL!

    1. I read a book about someone who walked that trail, it was very interesting. I would never do a hike like that, but enjoy reading about those that do. I think that learning French will be fun, I took 4 years of it in high school, but that was almost 30 yrs. ago- I am so old.
I bet Quint would ace all the tricks.

  10. OMC IFin we had a bell, Raena would never let us have any peace. MOL Dat girl turns anything and everything on. She hits any and all buttons and purrotusions, so we could only ‘magine what she’d do with a bell. We can’t wait to hear what happens with your and Prancie. MOL Mommy says, just be careful with your reactions and rewards or you might find yourself bein’ woken up off and on all night long by a ringin’ bell. MOL Big hugs to all.

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena

    1. She already does wake us up by pushing it onto the floor or taking the phone off the hook 🙂 XO

  11. When I decorate the Christmas tree, I put the metal bells on the lowest branches, and the glass ornaments higher up. Though my cats don’t bother the tree much, I do hear the bells tinkling now and then, so training my lot to ring bells isn’t necessary – at least at Christmas-time. A happy new year to everyone in your family!

    1. Every time a bell rings an angel gets it’s wings so they are helping 🙂 Happy New Year to you and your kitties too.

  12. Keep us posted on how that works out with Prancie . Thanks for the book suggestions. Dad got Mom a cat book for Christmas: The Lion in Your Living Room by Abigail Tucker. She hasn’t had the opportunity to star it yet! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  13. We don’t have a bell, but I like to chew the ear pieces of my mom’s eye glasses in the morning. They’re on her nightstand and I’ve been known to knock them onto the floor.
Soon, we’re going to the library to see if this book looks good: The Dog Who Could Fly. If not, mom has a new cozy mystery to read.

    1. My hubby never leaves his glasses on the nightstand or Prancie would do the same thing. 🙂

  14. Happy Monday! Mommy is reading about three books right now. She’s still getting through The Fiery Cross, but is really into Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance. She says it’s very interesting. That’s a very nice pole you guys got for Christmas.

  15. Sounds like a good book! The only trick I know is to tap, tap, tap on Mommy’s forehead in the middle of the night and she gives me treats to ‘shut me up’. Yeah, I don’t know what that last part means either but whatever, I still get treats.

    Purrs,
    Angel

  16. You know what? *I* think the best way to ring a bell is to knock the darn thing onto the floor!! You mean there’s *another* way? Why, when pushing it off the table is so easy and works so well? Ha ha meow!

Happy Mew Year, Kitties and Humans!

  17. What a great win to have for you and the cats! Hope the training goes well!! And love you have a cat calendar. Everyone to their own joys. Happy New Year.

  18. It would be great to teach them how to ring a bell. We have “door bells” so Bentley & Pierre can tell us when they need to go outside. Piere uses them like a gentleman and Bentley uses his nose to slam our blinds. LOL!

  19. Petcretary taught some of our furbears a few tricks, like Miaow on command, sit up and beg, jump over, crawl under and roll over. She had more time then, MOL!
We know our names…and Pipo is quite faithful in coming when called…Minko pretends he is deaf! MOL!

    1. That is impressive that they could do so much. Most of my cats come when called- if food is involved. 🙂

  20. I am reading A Man Called Ove and that is why I didn’t get to comments yesterday. I didn’t want to put it down. It started out a little slow for me and then I fell in love with it and the peeps in it! Oh, and I read Oliver the Cat Who Saved Christmas and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Good Morning!
