Hopping Monday

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww…Mondays, McGuffy’s Reader’s Sparks and Mewsic Moves Me ( hosted by Curious as a Cathy, Xmas Dolly, JAmerican Spice and Stacy Uncorked.) And it is day 2 of A-Z Blogging Challenge.

B is for baseball.

Joanie is posing with our spark for this week which is also a giveaway. The catnip mat says “Live Your Life in the Meow” and the socks say “Stay Pawsitive”. To  enter just leave a comment on today’s post, the giveaway closes at 10pm (EST) Tuesday night. Winner will be announced Wednesday.

This week was our choice for the Mewsic hop.We just had a Blue Moon so I thought I would go with songs with moon in the title.

  1. Creedence Clearwater Revival-Bad Moon Rising -this is my hubby’s favorite group.

2. Fly Me to the Moon (Frank Sinatra)-my all time favorite singer.

3. Moon River (Andy Williams)- I didn’t know about this song until this episode of Sex and the City.

Do you have another Moon song you prefer?

I am skipping the Reading Hop this week because I haven’t had a chance to read much.

  1. How about “Blue Moon” by any number of artists: Rod Stewart, Dean Martin, Billie Holliday, etc. Mom loves that moon song. And she loves CCR. Absolutely love how you did your Sparks this week. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

    1. I didn’t realize Blue Moon was done by so many artists. Glad you like the spark 🙂 XO

  2. Hmmm, no moon songs come to mind, except the one about the cow jumping over the moon, MOL!!! Sheesh! Oh and the one about the furry creature combing her hair by the light of the silvery moon, I think it was a raccoon? What about the frog who went a courting by the light of the moon…or something like that? At this hour petcretary’s brain doesn’t work that well, esp after she gets home from work, MOL!!
Baseball is great to make for your B, its now baseball season again…but our tigers just got swept…lost all three games of their opening series. Phooey!

Those socks and mat are great! Petcretary wore socks with peeps on them for Easter to make her residents giggle, so those would be worn to her work to try and make them giggle too…if she wins:)

  3. Super cute crocheted baseball and beautiful nip mats!! Your Mommy is amazing. My Mom remembers “Blue Moon” too like the Kitties Blue mentioned….! The giveaway you’re having is very cool AND is a wonderful sparks message at the same time…….neato!

Love, Teddy and Mom Pam too

  4. Ellen,

The baseball is adorable but what I really like is your SPARKS contribution with the catnip mat that reads, “Live Your Life in the Meow”. The socks’ saying is cute, too. If I win these, then I’d have you to send them to one of my daughters. 🙂

“Your Choice” song picks are excellent! Saturday night the moon really hung big and bright in the sky. It’s often hard to see in the east as it’s coming up after dark but I didn’t have any trouble seeing it then. It was beautiful! CCR “Bad Moon Rising” is a great tune to get the ole bod a movin’ in the morning.

Thanks for joining the 4M gals on the dance floor, my friend. Have a songtastic week and happy A2Zing!

Y’all are invited to visit my all-in-one mewsic, sparks, & a2z post on Curious as a Cathy! 😉

    1. Thank you, glad you liked my choices. That would be a sweet gift for your daughter- good luck. 🙂

  5. Fly Me to the Moon! Frank… ♥ Also love Bad Moon Rising, I hear that on the car ra-dee-ohhh and I am singing!
Live your Life in the Meow… very cute, very wise! The crochet baseball is perfect, it’s baseball season!
    Good Morning!

  6. Oh that mat is so great and we love the spark. Thanks Joanie for showing it to us. Those songs are some of the great ones. We like them a lot. Hope you all have a perfect day.

  7. I LOVE the song Moon over! And Fly me to the Moon is also a favourite. I like the old, smooth songs and singers… and cats! We have Milla. Who is a trained cat. She does as she is told. And is very bright. I also have an assistance dog, who she hates! http://www.poetryroundabout.com I’m doing Z to A!

  8. Ah, CCR. Great group. My fictional band is named BloodMoon, though you no doubt know that by now. ~blush~ And here’s a fun Palaye Royale fact: 21-year-old drummer Emerson actually played Ol’ Blue Eyes during a podcast one day. ~grin~ Hope you are well today!

  9. Oh, wow, what a great giveaway!
Well, the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” comes to mind where Audrey Hepburn sang Moon River. Here is a clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uirBWk-qd9A
Angel Normie, Angel Mika, Sasha & Grady Lewis
Pee Ess: We also like the Marcels singing Blue Moon.

  10. That looks like a purrfect baseball to us! Prancie, are you using it to practice the sport? Your Spark is purrfect as well, and you are so kind with all of your fun and sweet giveaways. And goodness, CCR brings back some memories. My dad used to play their stuff at home when I was a kid. Purrs, and happy Monday!

    1. Thank you, glad you like the spark and baseball. That is cool that your Dad likes CCR< my hubby loves them. XO

  11. Great looking baseball. You’re so talented.

    Love the videos.

    Love the Sparks.

Have a purrfect Awww Monday. My best to your mom. ♥

  12. Your mom is very creative with her crocheting. That ball and yesterday’s avocado were great. Our Royals baseball game was postponed yesterday because of bitter cold and snow – well, actually it was more like sneet, snow and sleet together.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  13. My goodness, you can crochet anything!
Now I want to go listen to Andy Williams singing.
(I don’t want to be in the drawing for the cute nip mat….I don’t enjoy nip).

  14. What a fun post Ellen.
I do like Andy Williams a lot but most recently my moon song favorite is
Neon Moon by Brooks and Dunn
    Hugs Cecilia

  15. Joanie, I love Fly Me to the Moon with Frank Sinatra and I sure love CCR. Oh the memories that brings back. I have an earworm…two of them spinning right now!!

  17. That mat and those socks are pawsome!!! My peeps love CCR too. REM used to be “Moon River” in concert. TW had a tape and used to play it for Gramma who thought it was terrible. Cowboy Junkies had “Blue Moon Revisited” and there was a do wop song called “Blue Moon.” I just shared a bunch of moon songs in the sci-fi playlist, including the Police song TTT mentioned, REM’s “man on the moon” and “Everyone’s Gone to the moon” by Jonathan King. I’m sure we could think of others. Dunno about Phoebe’s choice of teams but I guess you have to root for the hometown team.

    1. That is cool that REM did Moon River in concert, I bet it was good. You know a lot of moon songs 🙂 XO

  18. Great positive quote…and love how the animals say it best. 🙂 Happy Monday

  20. You never saw Breakfast at Tiffany’s? That’s where Moon River came from. It’s got a cat in it!!!

    1. I did, but didn’t notice the song. I got upset when she let the cat out of the cab.

  21. Wait! Are you going to have a crocheted item for every letter of the alphabet?? We think your crocheting is so cool. I was lucky to be able to make some kind of pathetic potholders when I was younger, but that’s about it!

    1. Yes, I did last year too and this year I am making different items, but all for cats 🙂

  22. One of my Mom’s favorite songs is Van Morrison’s Moondance and the other is Cat Stevens Moon Shadow! Have you ever seen the animation? The story is about a man and his cat and the music does not start until about 2 minutes into the short film! Mom LOVES it!

  23. Live Life in the Meow! I love that! And you picked quite a variety of songs today. I like all of them….probably Frank’s the best even though I’m a classic rock girl. 🙂 Hope your week is going well.

  24. I am being followed by a Moon Shadow by Cat Stevens is a good one! 🙂
Also, Van Morrison’s Moondance is a great moon song! Both favourites of our Mama!

the critters in the cottage xo

  25. Great moon songs! I’ve always been partial to CCR’s Bad Moon Rising. 🙂 I also like Electric Light Orchestra’s ‘Ticket to the Moon’. 🙂 Thanks for the dance!
