Happy Dr. Seuss Day everyone! Special thanks to Ann of Zoolatry for sending out a reminder because I would not have known about this:

We are having a Cat in the Hat giveaway for a catnip mat and a crocheted hat- all you need to do is comment. The winner will be announced tomorrow. 006Phoebe doesn’t like to wear hats, she is a scarf girl. We have a hat that Grammie made for them-who do you think wears it best?

If you want to make a hat for your cats, this is the crochet pattern I used for the one in the giveaway: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dr-seuss-inspired-cat-in-the-hat-style-hat-for-american-girl-18-dolls They used an L hook, but I thought that was too big so I used a G hook instead.

  4. Happy Dr. Seuss Day! We love love love the hat on all of the kitties but I have to say Sammy seems to be the “happiest” one in the hat!!! I loved the Grinch but I also liked Green Eggs and Ham (or should it be BACON???!!!!!).

    1. Sammy does seem to be the happiest- the only one with his eyes open. You could rewrite it as green eggs and bacon 🙂

  5. NIbbler says it looks almost like a tie between Sammy cuz he is looking at you and Lucy as she doesnt look too sad about wearing the hat.

    1. Sammy and Lucy both thank you. I left it on Lucy and she didn’t take it off, she waited until I took it off. Happy Dr. Seuss Day!

  26. The hats are adorable! The models for Grammie’s hat are all cute but Sammy seems the least offended 🙂 We love How the Grinch Stole Christmas too but he wrote so many wonderful life lessons for children in other books didn’t he?! 🙂

My favorite Dr. Seuss books as a kid were “Green Eggs and Ham” and “One Fish, Two Fish, Res Fish, Blue Fish.” Jason’s favorite was “The Lorax” and it’s message is so precious to us so we have several copies around. The Grinch also had an excellent moral. Dr. Seuss was a genius, wasn’t he? I love the hat but Amelia would not… Which makes me want it even more! 🙂
