Hi everyone! Today is H day for the A-Z Blogging Challenge so I want to recommend 2 books about Homer the Blind Wonder Cat. Homer’s Odyssey and Homer: The Ninth Life of a Blind Wonder Cat by Gwen Cooper.
I am sure many of you are familiar with Homer, but if you are not, then you should check these books out. I have actually only read the original, I got the newer one for Christmas, but haven’t had a chance to read it yet. I have read reviews about it on several other blogs so I know it will be good- and sad.
Homer lost both his eyes as a kitten. No one wanted to adopt a tiny blind kitten, but Gwen Cooper did and was rewarded by years of entertainment and love.Homer did many things that a seeing cat wouldn’t even do like scare off an intruder in their apartment.
KaTwo and I read this book together. She doesn’t care for other cats so she is usually in her own room. I try to do my reading in there to give her some bonding time.
We are also entering Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop. I just read that the price of stamps is going down 2 whole cents so I decided to make a stamp of Spooky using photofacefun.com
Don’t forget to comment for a chance to win this car decal and 2 crocheted catnip toys. Phoebe will announce the winner tomorrow. Car Decal Geek has all kinds of decals, if you can think of it, they probably have it.
And before we go we want to wish Marg a Happy Birthday! Thank you Ann of Zoolatry for the beautiful badge.
Great H choice guys and I think Spooky look spooktacular on a stamp!
Thank you XO
My human loved Homer’s first book – we haven’t gotten around to the second yet either. He was such a very special little guy.
He was very special and so are you Summer.
My Mom knows Homer’s story has a lot of “sad” but she still wants to read it. She has it on her list to get at the book store next trip. Homer sounds like a most special cat – there are a lot of disabled animals AND people who absolutely don’t let ANYTHING stop them from being the bests they can be. I like that.
Hugs, Sammy
I like that too. I know your Mom will enjoy the story. XO
Home is on my to-read list (my list is steadily growing longer!) I checked out the decals and they do have it all! I love Spooky on a stamp!!! If he was on a U.S. postage stamp I would buy them (but never use them – except to mail something to myself!)!! Have a happy Saturday!!
I should get some Spooky stamps for Halloween 🙂 You will love Homer. Happy Saturday!
I’m such a fan of Homer. Thank you for sharing his books! I love that you use reading as a time to bond with KaTwo. How sweet! And, I love Spooky’s stamp. Purrs!
Thank you, KaTwo enjoys our time- I think 🙂
We like the stamp art! Very nice. 🙂 Our mom knows all about Homer the blind Wonder cat. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Thank you 🙂

Thank you, glad you like the stamp. Yes, I cried too.
I have the first one and need to get around to reading it. I’m sure I’ll love it!

We loved the first Homer book! We love your stamp, too, Spooky!
Me too 🙂 Thank you, glad you like Spooky’s stamp.
We know Homer. Well virtually of course, but we think he’s great.
Luv ya’

Same here :)XO
I read Homer’s first book and thought it was ok, It ended up being too much about the human’s life and we struggled to finish it. We didn’t like it enough to get the second book.
I like your old-timey postage stamp.
I didn’t read the second one yet, but when I do, I will let you know if it is like the first or more about Homer. Glad you like Spooky’s stamp. 🙂
My mum has read the first Homer boo but not the second. The stamp art is lovely.
Glad you like Spooky’s stamp, I bet you would like nice on a stamp too. XO
Homer’s story is just incredible. And as far as the price of stamps, when I heard about the decrease on the radio yesterday I thought I was hearing things!!! Since when does the price of anything go down, especially when it relates to the federal govt???
That is surprising that stamps are going down.
The first Homer book is one of the few books TW has read start to finish since she started blogging. She hopes to get the sequel someday.
The first is good, I am guessing the second is too. 🙂
We were always fans of the special Homer too!
He was special 🙂
What a great book! Good choice for H.
Thank you 🙂
I haven’t read either book, but I’ll put them on my list. Its nice that you have a reading buddy. Love your vintage looking Spooky stamps!

I am sure you will enjoy the books. Glad you like Spooky’s stamps.

I’ve read the first one, but didn’t know there was another. Homer proves that even a “handicapped” cat makes a great pet!
I agree, any cat is a great pet.
We love the stamp of Spooky, it would be fit in Granny’s stamp collection purrfectly 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Week 🙂 <3
Thank you 🙂 That is neat that Granny has a stamp collection. XO
