Friendly Fill-Ins Week 61

Hi everyone. Before we get to the Friendly Fill-Ins, Phoebe asked me to make an announcement. The Crotchety Cougars have lost their first member, beautiful Ellie of The Florida Furkids sadly left for The Rainbow Bridge Thursday morning. The Cougars have a tribute to her (click here) and you can visit her family ( click here).

Thank you to Kali’s Mom for this beautiful badge.

Ellie’s Dad needs some prayers too.

Here are the fill-ins, please add your link at McGuffy’s Reader. You can also answer in the comment section.

1. My favorite line from a film is __________________________.

2. Other than blogs, a website I visit often is __________________.

3. When I feel down, I                              .

4. If I could                         , I would                           .
My answers:
1. My favorite line from a film is Nicolas Cage in The Family Man, when asked by a child if he likes kids. ” On a case-by-case basis” . I always quote that because that sums up how I feel too.

2.Other than blogs, a website I visit often is Goodreads, almost daily. I like to enter the giveaways and keep track of what I am reading. I also visit Pinterest often too.

3. When I feel down, I eat junk food. Apparently, I do it when I feel fine too. 🙂

4. If I could rescue every cat in need, I would definitely do that.

  1. RIP Angel Ellie!
I could have bet hard cash that you’d have a Nicholas Cage quote, Ellen!!!
Yes, let’s save all the kitties!

    1. I guess my Nic Cage crush is no secret 🙂 Yes, I wish we could save all the kitties.

  2. I wen to Ellie’s page and left a note and a memento there…so sad…too many new angels.

Save all the cats…yes! And doggies too:)

    1. My favorite line from a film is um…I have no idea!.

    2. Other than blogs, a website I visit often is the one belonging to my grocery store, so I can check for sales and coupons..and also the weather Channel…for obvious reasons, MOL!

    3. When I feel down, I want to snuggle with my furry ones and eat ice cream. And talk on the phone with friends. .
    4. If I could make all signs of old age go away forever, I would . Like Alzheimers…and strokes, etc…then I would be out of a job:) .

    1. Yes, too many new angels. Thank you for your great answers. Clearly you are not into watching movies 🙂 Furry ones are the best way to make one feel better. I like your answer to #4, that would be wonderful even if it would put you out of a job. XO

  3. Loved the answers, especially the third one…MOL 😀 and answer four of course 🙂 Ellie’s passing came as a shock again, but are we ever prepared when it comes to death? Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend 🙂 <3

    1. Ellie’s passing was a shock. I am glad you liked my answers XO and paw kisses

  4. Great fill-ins……..somehow we knew your favorite movie quote would be SOMETHING Nic Cage said (tee hee!!!). We love the badge that Ann from Zoolatry made for beautiful Ellie – she certainly is a pretty Angel and we know Angel Sammy was at the Bridge to welcome her…….Have a SUPER Friday and weekend!

    Love, Teddy (and Mom)

    1. Oops, I thought that the Canadian Cats’s Mom made the badge.
Yes, I like to get Nic’s name out there often.
I am sure Angel Sammy and her Angel siblings were there to meet her. XO and love to you both.

  5. Please accept my condolences for the loss of Ellie.

It is a good thing i can’t rescue every cat (or person!) in need because i would be right there with you.

  6. I was sorry to hear about Ellie. 🙁

That’s a great quote from The Family Man. It’s true for me too. Junk food is one of my guilty pleasures too. Too easy to eat when I’m feeling down and too easy to eat when I’m feeling good too. Ugh. I really need to cut back.

I listed Goodreads too! It’s a fun site.

I like your answer about wanting to rescue cats. Sometimes I wish I could do that too–and dogs as well.

I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Us too. I enjoyed your answers today too, thanks for joining ion the fun. 🙂

  7. So sad about Ellie and Gertrude.
You could have filled the Fill-ins in for me… all four work fine for me… 🙂 I will be back to do Fill-ins because my brain isn’t firing all together yet this morning. I need to think.
    Good Morning!

    1. Okay… had to check out who actually said one of my favorite lines in a movie I watch over and over.
      1. My favorite line from a film is “Never lose your childish innocence. It is the most important thing.” From Katherine in Under the Tuscan Sun.
      2. Other than blogs, a website I visit often is TinyKittens 24/7 Rescue Reality TV.
      3. When I feel down I watch Under the Tuscan Sun, Murphy’s Romance, or Smokey Robinson’s visit to Live from Daryl’s House which CH recorded for me.
      4. If I could start riding horses again I would in a flash!

      1. I love that movie, Diane Lane is such an amazing actress. I love at the end hoe she actually has everything she wanted, just not the way she had envisioned it. I need to check out the Tinykittens website, it must be adorable. I hope you can start riding horses again in the near future. I have never ridden one, but I love to visit the sanctuary in the next town and pet their sweet heads.

  8. Purrs and prayers to Ellie’s family. Fly free, Angel Ellie.

Your fill-ins are perfect! I can really appreciate the quote you chose for #1. I have no problem with children, and my main job throughout my school and college years was actually babysitting. That being said, though many people I know or meet can’t believe me when I say this, having children of my own is not a goal of mine.

I also love Goodreads. And junk food, that is such a weakness of mine. Because of some intestinal issues I’ve developed, my doctor advises me against eating a number of different kinds of food, and though giving up things like pasta and bread was easy for me, it’s the sweets I’m really struggling to give up. I have had to learn how to make my own candy, free of refined sugar and lactose and all that jazz.

And your #4 is my favorite, and I agree 100%. Thank you for hosting this always fun challenge! Purrs!

    1. I used to work in daycare while in high school and college. I also have a degree in Elementary Ed., but changed my mind. Pets are much more fun.
I am sorry about your health issues, I hope the food changes are helping you to feel better.

  9. We were saddened to hear about Ellie. Our hearts to out to Bill and Sharon.
Angel Normie, Angel Mika, Sasha & Grady Lewis

  10. Exceptional answers. We knew your mom would quote Nicholas Cage. That’s a good one. Our mom feels the same way. Phoebe, we are so sad that our sister-in-law got her wings yesterday. She was such a special lady. What a lovely tribute the Canadian Cats did for her. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

    1. We are very sad about Ellie too, life is so unfair sometimes. I had to slip Nic Cage in somewhere 🙂 I like the tribute from The Canadian Cats too. XO

  11. Ellie was a beautiful girl, and we’re sad that she’s gone. We like The Family Man and watch it every year. I love the line “I carried a watermelon” from Dirty Dancing. 🙂

    1. We watch it every year at Christmas too, sometimes I watch it more than once. I like that line too.

  12. We’re sad about Ellie too! Did you ever watch Mr and Mrs Smith (Brad Pitt – Angelina Jolie)? In one scene, they’re at a party and Angelina’s character is with a group of wives – all fawning over their kids (she doesn’t have any). A lady asks her to hold her baby while the Mom takes her other child to the bathroom and Angelina’s character holds the kid at arm’s length – like the kid’s an alien. I laugh because that used to be me before my niece and nephew were born. Your comment about junk food reminds me of one of my other favorite movie scenes from Despicable Me 2 – where the former bad guy dresses up as a princess for his adopted daughter’s birthday and one of the other kids asks her/him why he’s so fat (you can see the clip at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kYzHmPDZwo).

    1. I did see Mr. and Mrs. Smith, I know that feeling too. I was good with my niece, but then when my great niece came along, I needed a refresher course 🙂 I will check out that link , thanks for adding it.

  13. I’m sorry about Ellie.☹☹?? Sorry for your loss.???? Are you getting another cat?
Now for fill-in Fridays. My answers are: 1. Nobody puts “Baby” in a corner 2.Omaha Steak Web Site 3. When I feel down I look to Jesus and pet the cat. 4. If I could give all abused animals justice I would if I could.

    1. Ellie was not my cat, she was a friend’s cat at a different blog.
Thanks for your answers. I love that line from Dirty Dancing too. I love your answers to 3 and 4 too.

  14. Wee are berry sorry fur thee loss of Ellie Kat! Wee not know her well butt wee know how hard it iss to say “Goodbye”…..
Mee sends POTP to her Pawentss an remain fursibss….
    ***paw kissesss*** Siddhartha Henry xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    1. Thank you my sweet purrince, she is our first crotchety cougar member to leave us and so soon after becoming a member 🙁 XO and paw kisses

  15. I’m so sorry to hear about Ellie. That’s very sad news.

I totally forgot about Goodreads when I did my answers. I’m there daily too. I love to be able to keep track of my books there. Junk food definitely helps times when you are down.

Hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Goodreads is a great place to keep track of what we read and find more to read 🙂 Have a nice weekend!

  16. It’s always sad when we have one go down, but I like to think of a new kitty who really needs a home stepping in and filling the void with new love.
    ^-.-^

  17. It seems like a tough year for cat loving families. ~sigh~ I never saw that movie, and I like Nick Cage. What a great quote. Thanks for sharing.

    1. It has been a very tough year for many with so many losses.
      Nick is the best.

  18. guyz….talk bout a soooper big surprize ta yur momz answer for questshunz one !!!! who wooda thought !! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

N yea, bring on de donutz we say …♥♥♥

  19. Too many are running to the RB. In addition to Ellie and Gertrude, Tess from Nerissas Life passed as did my Twitter twin Penny. Can you believe I actually did the fill-ins on my blog today so I don’t have to do them here. If TW had to do it all again, we’d have chosen a line from Blue Velvet—when Dennis Hopper says “Heineken? F*** that s***! Pabst Blue Ribbon!” It’s a quote even I’ve heard them use.

    1. Oh no! I did not know about Tess, that is awful. All these losses are awful, it is so sad.
Thank you for your fill-in answers and for doing a post on them. XO

    1. You’re welcome. Ellie was a beautiful girl and will not be forgotten. XO

  20. Aww I am so sorry to hear of Ellie’s trip to the Bridge. Her dad and the rest of her family are in our prayers.

I love your answer to #3. It made me laugh. 🙂

I think your #4 is a great answer. I know that every cat that you’re able to rescue is a very blessed kitty.

    Have a blessed weekend.

    1. Thank you for praying for Ellie’s family. I am glad you liked my answers to 3 and 4 🙂 I hope you have a blessed weekend too. XO

  21. Ellen,

I’m sorry to hear about Ellie crossing the rainbow bridge. I’ll say prayers for the family.

I eat junk food when I’m down, only to get mad for not stopping myself and having to work ten times harder to burn off those waisted calories. Wouldn’t it be grand to indulge in the things we love free of guilt and worry? My favorite line from a movie is from Christmas Vacation when Clark says, “It’s a little nipply” to the salesclerk. I use that expression often when talking with DH and then we’ll laugh thinking about that movie. That’s one of funniest films! Have a good weekend!

    1. Thank you for praying for Ellie’s family, they are having a tough time. That is a funny film and quote. My problem with junk food is I never work extra hard to take the weight off, it just stays.Have a nice weekend too!

  22. I think on a case-by-case basis is how I would evaluate kids, too. Grownups, too, for that matter. Have a great week and thanks for hosting the Fill-Ins. I go to Goodreads, but only to post books I am reading and then the reviews. These publicists want that.

    1. Yes, I evaluate adults that way too. 🙂 Thanks for participating every week. 🙂
