  1. Great Fill-Ins. Mom has a special bread that was blessed that is supposed to keep violent storms away……………it’s got to be over 50 years old!!

    We LOVE the shopping cart!

    The Florida Furkids

    1. I hope the bread continues to protect you all. I have not heard of that. Glad you like the shopping cart, my great niece loves it too. XO

  2. Eureka! The lightbulb! Is it an LED to save energy!! MOL!

Cute snoopervisor of the shopping cart:)
    1. An Easter (or Passover) tradition I have is going to church. Its quite a special day. Sometimes I miss going on account of my work though.

    2. My favorite flavor of ice cream is Vanilla, butterpecan, vanilla, Chocolate, Vanilla, Moosetracks…vanilla…do you think I like Vanilla!!! Mmmm!
    3. One of my favourite Easter/Passover memories is when our extended family would all get together, one time we did, and it was warm and we were out in our sleeveless shirts in April (not often it gets that warm in Ontario in April)…and then we had a big snow after that, OMC!! Only the cousins and one Aunt are now with us…the rest are in Heaven. What a wonderful thing to be in Heaven at Easter I think. Its a comfort to all of us. .

    4. My favourite Spring flower is crocus, daffodils and tulips. Also blue bells and snowdrops. They signal the start of the pretty flower season, and the beginning of springtime. They are short lived…and so we have to get outside and marvel at them before they are all gone for yet another year to come. Then come the pansies and violas. My Mom always said they look like they have faces:) Its hard to pick out just one…like ice cream flavors, MOL!! .

    1. Of course it is LED 🙂 Thank you for your fill-in answers, I always enjoy them. I am sure God understands when you miss church for work, especially with the work you do that brings care and joy to the elderly. Those are all good ice creams. The older we get, holidays are sad because so many loved ones are not with us. Very nice flower choices, all are beautiful. I hope you have a wonderful Easter! XO

  3. That’s a tradition i’d not heard of, getting the food blessed the day before a holiday. Very nice rendition of a light bulb!

    1. Just before Easter, but it is a nice tradition. Glad you like the light bulb 🙂

  4. Great fill-ins and I love that photo of the little pink shopping cart full of goodies! My kind of shopping….tee hee. I was looking through my photos this morning and saw some of Sammy’s last Easter. He always got an Easter basket so we’re continuing that tradition with Teddy. Gosh I miss Sam………..hope all of you have a WONDERFUL Easter……………..

Love, Pam (and Angel Sam and Ted too)

    1. I am glad you will continue the Easter basket tradition with Teddy, Angel Sammy would want that. He was a wonderful boy so I understand your missing him. XO and love to you too!

  5. Your answers are fantastic! I love that you get your food blessed. And yum, orange pineapple ice cream sounds delicious. And, you crochet the cutest things! A light bulb! Have a beautiful day!

    1. Thank you, I love the food blessing tradition. Glad you like the light bulb 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful Easter!

  6. {{{Hugs}}} I miss our daddies, too. I think we’re always too young to have to tell them good-bye.
That is a cute lightbulb and I love that pink shopping cart.
I didn’t know that priests blessed the Easter food. That is wonderful.
Have a blessed Easter. May Our Heavenly Father continue to bless you and your husband.

    1. Thank you. The food blessing is a wonderful tradition that I hope the church never stops doing. May you and Dave be blessed as well. Happy Easter! XO

  7. Orange pineapple ice cream sounds delicious! It must be so hard to miss your dads. The crocheted light bulb is so cute!

The shopping cart is adorable! I love the contents.

I hope you guys have a lovely day!

    1. It is so good, I wish I could get it at the grocery store, but maybe that would be a bad thing. :)Have a Happy Easter! XO

  8. It would be good if we could turn back the clocks to a time when our fathers were all still alive. What would we tell them?

It is interesting that the priests bless the food. I had never heard of that. I cannot imagine letting a Southern Baptist minister near my food. We would not have any fried chicken left if we did.

    1. The food isn’t cooked so no worries about anyone eating it there. I do cook the eggs ahead of time though so they don’t break. Not sure what I would tell me Dad other than I have missed him and I love him, but he knew I loved him.

  9. Someday, the younger generation won’t even know what a ‘light-bulb’ is! My father worked for General Electric all of my life, and their early logo was a light-bulb. He’s been gone for almost 13 years now, but I know he’s watching out for us all. Phoebe, you are such a cutie!

    1. I am sorry your father is no longer with you, but I agree he is watching over you. Phoebe thanks you 🙂

  10. Visiting from A to Z. I love to crochet. .
    My answers:
    1. A Passover tradition I have is eating dark chocolate covered matzoh. I fell in love with it as a child. It sounds gross but it really isn’t.
    2. My favorite flavor of ice cream is Pistachio.
    3. One of my Passover memories is watching my Mom (who died when I was 12) cooking. I’m told she was an excellent cook but the young me didn’t appreciate that.
    4. My favorite spring flower is the daffodil. Deer don’t eat them, some are fragrant, and they are so hardy.

    1. Thank you for your answers, I enjoyed them. I have heard of chocolate covered matzoh, it sounds good. I am very sorry you lost your mother so young, it is good you have some memories of her cooking. I like daffodils too, they seem to be the only thing the voles haven’t eaten on us. Enjoy the rest of your Passover.

  11. Love your Easter fill in today. Very nice.

Just left messymimi’s and what fun her kitties are having with all the great things you sent to her.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. Happy Easter to you and yours. ☺

    1. Thank you. I was happy to see her kitties enjoying their prizes. Happy Easter to you and your family too!

  12. Answers were great, especially #3. I have never heard of taking food to the church to be blessed. That sounds like a great tradition. The shopping cart photos…love, love. love! Sending lots of love to all. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

    1. Thank you. It is too bad more churches don’t bless the Easter food. Glad you like the photos, I had a lot of fun taking them 🙂 XO

    1. Yes, Sammy was checking the cart. Holidays are sadder as we lose more loved ones.

  13. We LOVE the picture of Sammy and the shopping cart (at first we thought it was Phoebe … but then I saw the nose smudge). I’ve never heard of orange pineapple ice cream, but it sounds good. I love fruit juice blends – and that blend is one of my favorites 🙂 Happy Easter to all of you!

  14. We love your fill-ins! We don’t have any Easter doings here but our Mom remembers getting an Easter egg in her shoe every Easter Sunday. And sometimes, it was even hard-boiled! MOL! Have a wonderful Easter!

  15. Oh my goodness having your food blessed is very special we are not familiar with that tradition.
    Hugs and Happy Easter
    Madi and mom

  16. We’ve never heard of orange pineapple ice cream before! Love the goodies in the shopping cart! Happy Easter to all of you!

  17. Love your fill-ins! Here are our answers:

    1. An Easter (or Passover) tradition I have is the KCC Easter Egg Hunt!

    2. My favorite flavor of ice cream is vanilla, because it’s good on it’s own and I can also add things like Oreos and chocolate/caramel syrups to it!

    3. One of my favourite Easter/Passover memories is… sadly I don’t have a particular memory that stands out in my head. I always enjoy Easter though!

    4. My favourite Spring flower is daffodils and hydrangeas!

    1. Thank you for these great answers to the fill-ins. I always enjoy your egg hunt, that is such a fun idea. I don’t have a favorite memory, all my years have blended together. Those are pretty flowers. Have a Happy Easter!

  18. 1. Dads tradition is Peeps! We get one to play with so they are ours too
    2. Chocolate Marshmallow. Yuck how can Dad eat this. We like Vanilla

    Timmy, Dad and Family

    1. Thank you for your fill-in answers, I enjoyed them. How lucky to get your own peep to play with, I wouldn’t want to clean the sticky mess after. Have a Happy Easter!

  19. Those are good fill ins. I have never heard of orange pineapple. My mum likes chocolate, chocolate or chocolate.

    1. Thank you sweet Flynn. I like chocolate too and tomorrow I am going to have lots of chocolate because Lent ends at noon. XO

  20. We used to have food blessed at Easter, too. Our priest also blessed baskets. I can understand missing your fathers. I miss mine. Bill misses both of our dads. I never knew his, sadly. He had gotten close to mine; they even hunted together.
There is a sherbet of that flavour, that is popular near here. I never saw it in ice cream, but it sounds good.
Do you grow Lady Slipper flowers? Pretty!
That light bulb is really cool!
    Happy Easter!

    1. Is yours a Polish church? I am curious because I thought it was a Polish tradition, but maybe it is just a Catholic tradition. That is good that Bill got to know your Dad. My husband is a lot older than me and his father was older when he had him so when he died in 1999 at the age of 91, I had only known him for 10 years. My Dad passed in 2001. We do have a lot of lady slippers on our property, I love how they blend in and you look and don’t see them then look again and they are there. Glad you like the light bulb 🙂 XO

  21. We just luv dat shoppin’ cart. MOL Is da food already cooked befur it’s blest? We’ve never heard of dat befur. Hope you have a pawsum Easter. Big hugs

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena

    1. Thank you 🙂 I cook the eggs because I am afraid of breaking them. We keep our food wrapped, but the older Polish ladies make these fancy platters with the food on it all cooked and out in the open. We only get certain things blessed- the eggs, salt butter, ham and kielbasa and bread.THose are the only ones mentioned in the blessing. XO

  22. We never heard of that ice cream flavor.

    1. An Easter (or Passover) tradition I have is eating as much ham as I can.
    2. My favorite flavor of ice cream is vanilla with ham chunks. Nicky said it’s delicious. Pop likes vanilla swiss almond or everything but the kitchen sink.
    3. One of my favourite Easter/Passover memories is the first time I laid eyes on that 4-lb chocolate rabbit.
    4. My favourite Spring flower is catnip. TW said I should put hyacinths.

    1. Thank you for your great answers to the fill-ins CK. I have never had vanilla ice cream with ham, I don’t eat ham, but I make one for Easter. I am sure my cats would like it. I would like to sink my teeth into that 4 pound rabbit. Catnip ha pretty flowers, we have catmint and it blooms a pretty purple.

  23. The shopping cart is a hoot and the light bulb is darling. All the crocheted toys have been fun! I am going to do Fill-ins here again this week. I am hoping my blogging mojo comes back again but if it doesn’t that is going to have to be okay. I struggle with the whole blogging thing. I think I just really love all the people I have met blogging and want to continue commenting. I am so happy to have met you and your family of kitties. I am glad to have found you through the Fill-ins with Annie and at Pam’s blog! I have never heard of the blessing of food!
    1. An Easter tradition I have is to make sure I make deviled eggs even though we don’t dye eggs anymore… and a Cadbury Cream filled Egg for CH. My Mom always got him Cadbury eggs.
    2. My favorite flavor of ice cream is banana with chocolate on top.
    3. One of my favorite Easter memories is a memory associated with the last Easter I had with my Mom. Too long to do here in your comments but It involved a stuffie that I named Suds Bunny that she gave me her last Easter. My Mom loved Easter. Suds Bunny’s story is in a post from March 18, 2012 on my blog. I share your feelings of missing someone special at Easter.
    4. My favorite Spring flower is Iris, or flags as my Grandma used to call them. Peonies, too! And Daffodils… 🙂

Have a wonderful Easter with your family, Ellen!

    1. I don’t mind your wriing your answers here, but I do hope you get back into blogging. I wish I had found your blog sooner, you have been at it a long time. Those are nice Easter traditions. I read the story of Suds, that was sweet and he is a good reminder of your Mom. I am sorry she is no longer with you. I love all those flowers too. Have a wonderful Easter! XO

  24. Ellen, When the kids were little we did the whole Easter bunny thing, hide eggs, etc. I made the traditional ham dinner, too. Now that the kids are grown, I still make us a traditional Easter dinner and I’ll buy a little Easter candy. Hey, I can’t pass a holiday without getting the appropriate candy. 🙂 One memory I have of an Easter long ago was when I got hit in the eye with a mud ball. We were visiting the family and us kids were playing in a big field that was muddy. Someone started throwing mud balls and I wound up getting nailed right in the eye. Dang, did that ever hurt! Oh the stupid things kids do!! You can’t have a mud ball without picking up tiny rocks in the mix. I can’t recall if I had a black eye from that or not but it sure did put a damper on my Sunday afternoon. I’m sure who ever hit me was feeling pretty lousy and a bit scared, too. Thanks for visiting on Friday for Art Sketching Through the Alphabet with the letter “L” (lighthouse & laughing cat).
