Friendly Fill-Ins Week 44

Hi everyone! Time for the Friendly Fill-Ins Week 44. Don’t forget to add your link at McGuffy’s Reader. You can also answer in the comment sections too. Thank you to all who participate, we love learning about you.

1. I hope _______________________ gets renewed for another season.

2. My first crush was __________________________.

3.                             usually makes me                          .

4. If I were a super-hero, I would be                                       .
My answers:
1. I hope American Housewife gets renewed for another season.
2. My first crush was Barney Rubble ( Flintstones). My Mom used to call my great aunt Alice and have her pretend to be Barney, I thought I was really talking to Barney. I remember asking him to leave Betty so he could come visit me. I was probably 4 years old at the time and apparently a bit of a hussy.
Phoebe is posing with my stuffed Barney that I won at a carnival years ago. We even named a cat Barney,  my hubby remembered me telling him I used to love Barney Rubble-plus we found her in the barn.
Barney looked a lot like Brody
3. Leaving my home unattended usually makes me nervous which is why I always have Grammie stay with cats if we are going to be out longer than 30 minutes. I am not afraid of someone stealing my belongings, but I fear that if someone broke in, the cats would get out and get run over in the street.
4. If I were a super-hero, I would be Cat Woman, of course.

  1. My human’s first crush was some guy on a wine commercial. If you actually knew her, this would not be a surprise.

  2. Your answers are great! I get a kick out of the show American Housewife as well – it’s too funny! I love your story about Barney Rubble, and how your great aunt would pretend to be him for you. And I know what you mean about #3. I can’t help but feel nervous when I leave my furbabies alone at home. Luckily, my parents’ house is very close to mine, and my mom is always willing to go check on my furbabies for me while I’m at work or away. Thank you for hosting this fun challenge!

    1. I am glad your parents live close by to check on your furbabies. Thank you for joining in the fill-in fun.

  3. Ellen, so let me get this you’re a home breaker (trying to steal Barney from Betty) and you’re a villain superhero, right? Gee, who needs therapy when they can tell their darkest secrets to everyone in Blogosphere?! lol Oh I love your answers!! You said you’d be afraid your cats would get out if someone burglarized your home? That’s a possibility. After DD#2 moved into her second apartment without her sister someone broke into her home taking her groceries mostly and put her cat in the freezer. Thankfully, my grandkitty was ok. DD#2 figured it was someone who knew her, like her sister’s BF who pretty much hated her. None of which could be proven and I worried about her more after that. Thanks for hosting the fill-ins and have a good weekend, dear friend!

    1. And yet I still do see a therapist, so I don’t become a cat hoarder 🙂 That is awful what happened to your daughter’s cat, I am glad the kitty was OK. I hope you have a great weekend too. XO

  4. Ha! So you were a Barneymaniac huh? Well, I used to love that show – those were fun cartoons. I’m glad your Mom is close enough that she can “house sit” for you when you are going to be away from home for any length of time. With as many cats as you have – I’m not surprised! Happy Friday…………

    Love, Pam and the boys

    1. I loved Barney 🙂 I am lucky to have my Mom close by, I wish she would move in with us. XO

  5. OhMyGosh! A crush on Barney… love it! I always worried about our cats in the house when we left, too. Couldn’t care less about a thing in the house but I didn’t want anything to happen to my cats. You are so lucky to have Grammie to come love and be with your kitties. Cat Woman… well, of course!

  6. Oh…my…gosh! I am still laughing about Barney Rubble…and you being a bit of a hussy! You are funny!
Okay. I like American Housewife, too. I love The Middle. I guess because I think they are average Americans.
I worry when we leave the house, too. I am glad our neighbor keeps an eye on things. She is a music teacher at the grade school. We have known her parents for 25 years.
Of course you would be Cat Woman! Hugs!

    1. Thank you 🙂 Glad you liked the Barney story. I like how American Housewife makes fun of the “cookie cutters” of the world.
I am glad you have someone to watch the house when you are not home. XO

  7. You are so cute! I got a kick out of your Barney Rubble story. Home wrecker! Even cuter, you named your kitty Barney. Your #4 is a scary thought and I do understand. I don’t worry quite as much about a break-in, although it is a concern, but I also worry about a fire. I’m in a condo so have to rely on others to be careful too. I also worry about if something happened to my husband and me while we’re out together (like a car accident), my kitties would be home with nobody else to know or care for them. That’s my true worry. Well, on a much happier note, Phoebe is adorable with Barney, and Brody looks very happy stretched out there.

    1. Thank you. I would worry about others if I lived in a condo too, I can see why you would be afraid of fires.

  8. GREAT fill-in answers! Barney sounds like a perfectly reasonable name for the cat, given your love-crush. We feel the same way when leaving our house and we’re well known for never, not once, taking a vacation of any length in over twenty-five years. We chalk that up to a less-than-good overnight experience long, long ago. Our 40 year old house/pet sitter threw a college-style party and all our cats were sporting lipstick the next day. Grrr…

    1. Thank you. That is awful what the pet sitter did. I can see why you wouldn’t want to go away.

  9. I sure can understand #3. Just with Madi that worries me….and I’m sure if there were loud noises and strange voices she would hide….but when they left would the leave the door open and would she come out………………scary!!
    Hugs and happy Friday

  10. Great answers ! I have the same sort of worries about leaving home. I think it is the “I (Heart) Cats” page that offers not only the stickers you put on doors and windows alerting safety forces to how many pets are in the house, but also wallet cards that say “My pets are home alone” to alert others if you are incapacitated.

Agreed about the guy who put the cat in the freezer ! Thank God the kitty was ok – and the girl apparently escaped harm too.

    1. I have those stickers, but that wouldn’t help with a burglar. I am lucky that my Mom likes to come over.

  11. If only Barney knew he probably would’ve left Betty! 🙂 Our mommy won’t leave us overnight which is why our Grandpa from KS comes to stay with us when she and Daddy are going somewhere.

  12. Mom thinks that is so cute that you had a crush on Barney Rubble. She’s heard of young girls having crushes on Bert and Ernie. Mom totally understands how you feel about someone breaking in and the cats getting out. You are lucky that you are able to have Phoebe’s Grammie come to the house, and we know Phoebe loves it. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

  13. Oh Ellen your story about you & Barney Rubble was so cute!!!
I had a crush on Hercules…it was a cartoon version of the story. Whenever he took his fancy H ring out & put it on I would ask my Father for his ruby & diamond ring & he would let me slide it on my Index finger (left hand). I would point my finger to the sky & holler “OLYMPIA” just like Hercules was doing on TV.
Boy was I bummed out when I realized Hercules was a cartoon! HAHAHAHA!
    (((hugs))) Sherri-Ellen
P.S.: I have had my Father’s ring since Aug. 2009 on my index finger (left hand) & every once in a while I still point to the sky & say “OLYMPIA”…. 😉

    1. Good to know I am not the only one who thought cartoons were real 🙂 That is sweet that you have your Dad’s ring and still point to the sky and say “Olympia” sometimes 🙂 XO

        1. Thank you for the link, I will check this one out. That is great that there are videos of these cartoons. XO

  14. 1. I hope (I do not watch enough TV to wish for anything to keep on…)But I like an occasional rerun of oldies like I love Lucy, etc.

    2. My first crush was a boy in my class who had no interest in me at all, LOL! Ninth and tenth grade. By 11th grade I was ‘over it’ though we did sit side by side in orchestra by then…Hah!

    3. Wine usually makes me feel woozy so I don’t use it very much…and not more than one glass. .
    4. If I were a super-hero, I would be a famous composer of the baroque era like Bach or Handel. They were super musical geniuses! I do not care for super heroes in the normally thought of terms…though I did watch Batman a lot when I would be in my friends homes…we did not have a TV back then. .

    1. Thank you for your great answers. I love to watch I Love Lucy, but it is harder and harder to find. It makes me sad that kids today probably don’t even know who Lucy is. I don’t drink any wine, my hubby makes all kinds for gifts, he only has a glass of it on holidays.
