Friendly Fill-Ins Week 351

Hi everyone! Time for the fill-ins. I came up with the first two sentences and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with the second two. If you didn’t do a post for them, you can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate. Don’t forget to add your link to the hop so everyone can visit you. The link is open until Wednesday night.

1. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that ___________________________.
2.  I am disappointed with _____________________-.
3. I _________ when I hear _________.
4. I didn’t believe _________ until I saw it for myself.
My answers:
1. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I can see all the seasons of the tv show, Mad About You on Amazon Prime.
2. I am disappointed with myself. I feel like I haven’t really accomplished anything in my 53 years. No kids, no career, etc.
3.  I smile when I hear a cat purr.
4. I didn’t believe a feral cat could be happy indoors until I saw it for myself. MY four ferals won’t let us touch them, but they seem comfortable and will play laser with us and be in the same room finally.
We are joining Feline Friday now hosted by Messymimi.
My flashback is my angel Emmy wearing her Mardi Gras beads last year.

  1. Ellen, you write a terrific blog, you’ve written charming childrens’ books, you’ve given a home to so many kitties! You are a kind person! You’ve accomplished alot! XO

  2. You’ve done a lot of good in your life and you are continuing to do so! I love your answer to #3! Emmy looked beautiful! 🙂 <3

  3. Ellen, I like your fill-ins – but #2 –Success is different for everyone. What may look like an accomplishment for someone else may not exactly be a fit for you ― and that’s okay. I think that you have accomplished a lot and we love and admire you! I bet the ferals will be loving you all over soon!
Love the picture of Emmy in her Mardi Gras beads!

  4. We think your ability to rescue cats is amazing, and not at all disappointing.
Don’t belittle yourself. You’ve published a couple of books, and you are leaving quite the legacy of love to your nieces and likely to your new nephew as well. You are kind, sweet and loving. What’s not to feel unaccomplished about all of that! And you have a loving hubby, whom you dote on.
You don’t have to be famous, or out in public to be accomplished. We love you! You have reached SO many through your blog.

I like your fill in answers…well lets not discuss #2 anymore, LOL!!

I somehow can’t come up with any of my own fill ins this week…sigh…

Emmy has reminded us to hide from all the MardiGras stuff that petcretary is sure to try and decorate us with, BOL!

    1. Thank you for your kind words. No offense Benji and Dalton, but I hope your mom finds the beads before you. XO

  5. If there is ANYONE in the world we have ever met who is a successful human being (and that’s a tough job!), it is YOU, dear Ellen. You are mama to how many kitties? A dear hubby? Two little darling nieces? And mama can tell you that having kids is not a great achievement for everyone. Anyone can do it in a New York minute, but mama chose not to have kids, too, and she has been more than content with that for years. You had a career before 53 and now is the time to do things that you really WANT to do! You’re a reader…maybe read to those who cannot see well. You’re an actress, right? Good practice…..mama has always wanted to be a reader to someone but here in France, her French is not good enough, haha. YOU ARE A SUCCESSFUL WOMAN! Period.
And better than most vets for good info about animals!

    1. Awww..thank you for your kind words. I have never had a career, just dabbled here and there. I envy those that stuck it out somewhere for 30 plus years and have a big pension. XO

  6. Sweet flashback of Angel Emmy.
There is no way you should feel disappointed with yourself. You have given so many kitties a loving home and that means the world to them.

  7. Still not sure my comments are posting – or our link – but we love filling in the blanks with you every week. Ellen my friend you HAVE accomplished a lot….tons of friends around the world….you’ve given so many cats a second chance…..your heart is bigger than big…..in my book that is a HUGE success my friend.

    Hugs, Pam

  8. Angel Emmy looks adorable in her necklace. I was able to get mad about you from the library DVDs. I like your four answers, I have no children either except for whenever I have a cat. And they just make up for everything I think.

    1. Thank you. You are right. My cats are definitely my children and whenever I lose one I am sure the pain is as deep as for a real child. XO

      1. Yes, it is, dear Ellen. Our furbabies ARE our babies. Always remaining like toddlers.

  9. I used to love Mad About You. I started to watch the reboot on Amazon but didn’t finish watching it. I’ll have to get back to it. I don’t have any kids either and sometimes feel like I haven’t accomplished anything, but you definitely have. Look at what you’ve done for the feline community. That is a huge accomplishment in itself.

    Angel Emmy looks beautiful.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you for your kind words. The reboot of Mad About You was pretty good. I had hoped they would do another season. XO

  10. Awww, Emmy, you are so missed. Such a sweet photo♥ Ellen, no way can you ever think you have not accomplished anything in your life. Goodness! Goes without saying what you have done with and for cats. So many loved and respected till the end. The people you have helped and made happy through your blog. You have published two of the sweetest books for children and adults like me! And what really comes to my mind is what you are doing with and for The Great One and Typhoid Mary. They are growing up with the loving caring example of your love for cats. They will be caring and loving adults that will respect all animals and that is big in my book. And their imaginations and sense of self/self esteem are tenderly cared for by you. I could go on and on.
I love Mad About You too!
    My Fill-Ins~
    1. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that SSNS brought home Philadelphia garden vegetable dip. We have not been able to get it for months.
    2.  I am disappointed with the whole health system locally where we live. It could be the result of all the people that have flooded in here for season.
    3. I am very happy when I hear Louis and his father pull up with our fresh mulch. I love the smell of fresh mulch and it seems to signal spring. Happened yesterday!
    4. I didn’t believe we had another cool front on the way until I saw it for myself.

    1. Thank you for all you wrote, you are very kind. And thank you for these great answers. We love that dip too. I haven’t looked for it in a while, but there was a time it was hard to get any cream cheese, even the blocks. Yes, I am sure all the snowbirds are flooding your health care system right now. XO

  11. Good post. I also agree with others in that you have made a difference in the lives of so many cats.
Success is not about a job, it is about how you treat yourself, others and the compassion you have for living things. You are a great friend of cats and that is something to be celebrated!
    Purrs, Julie and the mum

  12. No way, you should be disappointed in yourself! You are a very kind and talented person and a mom to kitties that need a home. You have a great blog, you have written books, and you’re excellent at crafts. I don’t have any kids either and feel it just wasn’t meant to be. My cats are my kids and I wouldn’t have any other way at this point in my life.

    That’s a sweet picture of Angel Emmy.😻

  13. You should not be disappointed in yourself for no kids or career …. some things are better than that! You are a great person and you bring happiness to others LIKE ME!!! 😊🙏 I appreciate you so much! I think of you on a daily basis …. almost every cat toy I find around the house is made by you. I always want to send you pictures … you would probably be all “stop sending me pictures” if I sent you pictures of all the toys LOL THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU!!

    1. You are too sweet. Thank you for your kind words. And I would never tire of seeing photos of your kitties. XO

  14. I think you have accomplished a great deal by taking care of all the kitties over the years, giving them a home and love.
Oh, I always liked that TV show Mad About You!
    Happy Friday and weekend <3

  15. ‘angel’ Emmy looked so ADOORBSS inn her Mrdi Gras beedss….
BellaSita Mum showed mee a foto of ‘angel’ Phoebe wearin her beedss….shee was THE Queen of Beed Wearin!!!
An Aunty lookin aftur so many catss over THE yeerss an beein a Mum to so many ISS a Career! You just due yore rescuin from home! An you ARE a CAT Mum an that iss a furry impawtent job!
    ***nose kissess*** BellaDharma

Hello Ellen: BellaSita Mum here. I too, have no children having lost 3 in vitro back in 1973 & 1974.
I wanted children however it was not to be. I have accepted this.
And I was blessed to have helped raise my Niece….who is now 43 years old.
I wish I lived closer to her so I could see my Great Nephew now 23! And Great Niece is now 17! Sadly we have not seen each other for 10 years…..
Please do not be disappointed in yourself. sometimes things are far beyond our control….
    gentle {{{huggiess}}} Sherri-Ellen

    1. Yes, Phoebe loved her beads. Thank you to your mum for her kind words. I am sorry she lost babies. She would have been a wonderful mother. And she is a great cat mum. XO

        1. Yes, she had told me. How very sad. When I miscarried in 1995, I did not ask the gender. XO

  16. I liked the fillins I thik you should be proud of yourself and your achievements 🙂

    Aww! for angel Emmy

    Have a fill-intastic weekend Ellen 👍

  17. Don’t EVER to disappoointed in yourself. You’ve made such a difference in humans and kitties lives. If I recall you made a difference as a teacher’s aid cos I seem to remember someone sharing how you changed her life. One doesn’t need a career or hairless children to be a success.

  18. Excellent fill-ins, and mew have acheived an epic amount of stuff; cat rescuer, cat herder extraordinaire, cat saviour, cat author, cat blogger, in fact we totally disagree with your #2 answer! Mew are EPICALLY EPIC and have had a truly cat’a’licious career!

  19. Awww, anyone that takes in four feral cats is awesome and very kind. 🙂 Writing a blog is a huge accomplishment! That takes time, knowledge, and patience! You can see all the people that agree that you are awesome! That’s super nice! Have a good rest of your weekend!!
    .

  20. Ellen! Sorry we are late getting here. I’m so sad that you feel that your life has been a disappointment. You are such a kind and caring person, a published author (!), a good and beloved friend to so many of us around the world, an amazing rescuer of cats, a loving aunt, and so many other things. Your legacy is a wonderful one, dear friend. We are so very grateful for you! XO

  21. And I too am sorry I am late in getting here. You are someone that I haven’t met at least yet…one never knows…but I feel completely at ease with you all the way from here, where I am. I can feel the “specialness” of you through your written blog word, and it is always consistent. Those who mentioned Typhoid Mary and The Great One and the new nephew, got there before me in saying that you are a huge influence in their lives for the absolute better. How I wish I had had an Aunt like you..involved in my life. I didn’t have a Mom nor any influences like that in my life. My Dad and two older brothers brought me up. Your nieces and nephew have already learned things at your elbow, What love you give them. They will take that with them the rest of their lives. Sending love.

  22. 1. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that remodeling our home is easier than I thought it would be.
    2. I am disappointed with the direction our country is heading.
    3. I smile when I hear hubby say let’s go boating. It’s been far to long too. Soon.
    4. I didn’t believe how dirty and dusty our closet was until I saw it for myself. It’s spotless now.

Thank you for co-hosting the Friendly Fill-Ins.

Have a fabulous day and week, Ellen. Scritches to the kitties. xo ♥

  23. Aww..dear Ellen, you have accomplished more than your mind wants you to believe, so the only thing you have to do is to believe that this is true…(hey, that’s a big task, isn’t it😸) and look what legacy you already leave behind and what more will come🧙‍♀️ You’re doing pawsome…asked the kitties, they all agree and so do we😺Double Pawkisses from 💗to💗 for a Happy Sunday to all of you🐾😽💞

  24. I can only agree with all the well deserved praise. ~nods~ It’s not often I stop to read so many comments and my heart goes out to any woman who miscarried a child even once. ~hugs~ I’m childless by choice and often wonder what use I have been/am to the world. We need to remind ourselves that even small impacts can expand from our little corner of the world. 🙂 My unplanned goal has become trying to give someone a smile or (even better) some laughs wherever I go.

    1. Thank you for your kind words. After the miscarriage, we decided to be childless by choice. I realized we were trying to please others instead of ourselves. And I don’t want to sound mean, but it was a wake up call. I would have loved him or her, but I think I was meant to rescue kitties.
I agree about our small impacts and you always make me smile. XO

  25. You bring many smiles to humans and felines. There is no shame in that. Congratulations on the work with all the ferals, including the new crew that has learned to socialize a little with the humans. You are so smart to bring in the other cats to help them with this, as they will always trusts cats over humans. They sound pretty smart! Not all humans are as nice as you, so they need to be cautious. I’m sure they will come more out of their shells each week.
