Friendly Fill-Ins Week 328

Hi everyone. I want to thank you all for the prayers for my sister. Sadly, she is not going to get better. She has been battling metastatic breast cancer ( the most aggressive form, triple negative) since May. And despite her positive attitude and desire to live, it has spread too far.

I have continued to blog despite this because it makes me happy and I truly need that right now. It has been awful seeing her waste away and constantly get more bad news. My heart is breaking for mom and for my niece. Thank you all for your friendship and concern.

Time for the fill-ins. I came up with the first two sentences and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with the second two. If you didn’t do a post for them, you can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate. Don’t forget to add your link to the hop so everyone can visit you. The link is open until Wednesday night.

1. A pleasant memory that I have from grade school is ___________________________.

My answers:
1. A pleasant memory that I have from grade school is getting to stay inside and help the teacher in 4th grade. I was teacher’s pet.
2. My plans this month include attending some of Typhoid Mary’s soccer games.
3. Please don’t ask me to choose between coffee and chocolate. I must have both.
4. In two years, I see myself publishing another book. Maybe sooner,
We are also joining Create With Joy’s Friendship Friday and Feline Friday currently hosted by Comedy Plus.

My flashback is from Meow Like a Pirate Day in 2020. Angel Sammy made an adorable pirate.

  1. Ellen I did not realize how ill your sister is, and I’m so sorry. My heart goes out to you and your family. Good fill-ins! I’ll be glad to see you publish another book. Darling picture of Angel Sammy. XO

    1. Thank you. Typhoid Mary is my 4 year old great niece’s nickname because she is always sick and spreading germs. 🙂

  2. I’m so sorry to hear about your sister. Many hugs and prayers to you and your family.

Great fill ins as always and cute Angel Sammy. I look forward to your next book!

  3. Such a burden to bear, Ellen. Praying for you and your sister at this time. If I could reach through the computer I would be giving you big hugs right now. Here are some virtual ones.🥰🥰🥰❤️

    1. A pleasant memory that I have from grade school is going home for lunch with my sister and mother, who would read to us and teach us how to read Dutch. I still prize that skill and her loving way of teaching us in that lunch hour, each day.
    2. My plans this month include being the ‘Taxi’ for my hubby…and going to Shipshewana with some of my lady friends for a day away.
    3. Please don’t ask me to choose between dogs and cats, because I love them all…not sure if well ever have more of our own kitties, though…I might volunteer or foster them..
    4. In future years, I see myself enjoying full retirement, though at two days a week right now, its sort of the same thing…

    1. Thank you for the virtual hug. And thanks for these great answers. That is a sweet memory. Glad you will get a day away with the ladies. xO

  4. WOW! Another book…go, girl! And so very sad for your family right now. If there is any way we can ease the pain of this, we are here. And yes, coffee and chocolate, really very good for females! Also red wine on occasion….

  5. Our hearts are with you every second…..blogging takes us “away” from things for a while and it’s a comfort I agree. Glad to hear you are contemplating another book – we LOVE your stories!

Big Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

  6. I am sorry your sister is so ill and know how devastating it is to know there is no cure. My thoughts are with you both and the whole family.

  7. I didn’t realize how sick your sister was either. Big healing hugs.

Love your fill-ins and it looks like we both like chocolate.

Aw on Angel Sammy. I know how much you loved him.

Thank you for co-hosting the Friendly Fill-ins.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. xoxo ♥

  8. Dearest Ellen… We haven’t been around much lately, so I wasn’t aware of your sister’s illness. I am so very sorry to hear the sad news. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am glad to hear you find solace in blogging, may it continue to be a beacon of peace and joy for you!

  9. I’m so sorry, Ellen. I had no idea your sister had metastatic breast cancer. I lost my Sis-in-law to breast cancer and my other sis-in-law is a breast cancer survivor. It’s heart breaking. I will be praying for all of you. I understand how you need the blog right now.
I hope you do publish a new book!
Sammy absolutely did make and adorable pirate… he was simply just and adorable boy♥

    1. Thank you. I am sorry about your sister-in-law. My sister had a mastectomy and radiation in 2015 and it came back with a vengeance this year. XO

  10. I forgot my Fill-Ins…
    1. A pleasant memory that I have from grade school is the chocolate cake with white icing for lunch. Hahaha!
    2. My plans this month include family from Missouri coming to visit.
    3. Please don’t ask me to choose between grilled hot doggies and grilled Jerry Burgers. Give me both!
    4. In a couple of years, I see myself back in Missouri in a cute little house in the country. Maybeeeeeeeeeeee.

      1. I really hope so Kate. If not, it’s okay, I only hate it here 6 months out of the year… Hahaha! But I’d really like to go home… I don’t want to die here. I love winter, it’s SSNS that hates winter. I need my paddock boots!

          1. We tried that with the condo here and The Tiny Ten. Too much worry over hurricane season. Also the drive down here in the winter was beyond getting old and I don’t fly. I have had enough of Florida, a month here from mid-Jan to mid-February at our favorite Inn would be just right 🙂 You are so right about how hard long distance moving is and I might just have to accept that this is home. It’s far from the worst things that could happen.

          2. I’m so sorry. My husband wouldn’t consider moving to Florida. He spent 6 months there on a job assignment. At first it was in the winter and it was wonderful. Then it warmed up and kept warming up. It was the high humidity with the heat that did him in. Wish you well in whichever way you go.

    1. Thank you for these great answers. I don’t remember any cake. I am glad you will get to see your family. I always have a hamburger and a hot dog at bbq’s. XO

  12. I am so sorry for your sister. I am a breast cancer survivor. I was fortunate that I had a non-aggressive type. Despite all the breakthroughs, women are still dying of breast cancer and that’s something that everyone should know. Hugs to you all.

  13. I’m so sorry about your sister. Such a cute photo and happy to hear you’re planning another book. I like #3…chocolate and coffee are important to me too.

  14. We cannot wait for your next book. Angel Sammy was always adorable. Ellen, it breaks my heart for your sister and your entire family. Cancer is the cruelest disease. I will continue to keep all of you in my prayers.
