Friendly Fill-Ins Week 15

Hi everyone! I can’t believe it is already week 15 of the fill-ins, thank you to all who participate. I love learning more about everyone and I hope you do too.

The Fill-Ins:

1. When I run out of ___________________, I use ___________________ instead.
2. My guru is _______________.

3. I am afraid of                            .

4. I feel empowered                                 .
My answers:
1. When I run out of  SHAVING CREAM, I use HAIR CONDITIONER instead.
2. My guru is JAMES ALTUCHER, HE HAS WRITTEN SEVERAL GREAT BOOKS. HE HAS FAILED AT MANY BUSINESS VENTURES, BUT KEPT TRYING. HE RECOMMENDS READING FOR AN HOUR A DAY AND GETTING LOTS OF SLEEP- GREAT ADVICE. I STILL NEED TO WORK ON THE NOT EATING AFTER 5 PM THOUGH.
3. I am afraid of THOSE I LOVE DYING, I HAVE NEVER FEARED MY OWN DEATH, JUST LOSING THOSE I LOVE. I AM ALSO AFRAID OF MICE, EVEN IF THEY ARE ALREADY DEAD AND SNAKES. AND GETTING SPRAYED BY A SKUNK.
4. I feel empowered ( NOT SURE I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT MEANS), BUT, WHEN I CAN DO SOMETHING TO HELP CATS, LIKE TRANSPORTING FERALS FOR TNR.I LIKE BEING PART OF THE SOLUTION. WE GOT 2 MORE TODAY, THE LAST KITTEN IS STILL BEING DIFFICULT.

  1. Oh my gosh! I use conditioner when I run out of shave cream! Bill laughs and tells me to just use his, so then I do. Wow! We do have a lot in common, Ellen. I also am afraid of loved ones dying. It happens, and it makes me so sad to lose anyone. I am not afraid of snakes or mice! I have had both as pets. Ahh…excellent answer on feeling empowered. I believe in being part of the solution. You nailed it, my friend. I believe in You. HUGS! Annie at ~McGuffy’s Reader~

  2. Love your fill-ins today Ellen……I think a whole lot of us are afraid of those we love dying……I have very little family left but I don’t like thinking that one day I’ll be the ONLY one left! You do a LOT for feral cats in your neighborhood and that is a wonderful thing and it SHOULD feel empowering – many people just say “something should be done” but only a few actually DO IT – like you! Happy Friday!

    Hugs, Pam

  3. You and Ann always come up with such wonderful fill-ins, Ellen. And your answers are always so fantastic! You have every right to feel empowered with everything you do for the feral kitties. Your TNR work is so very important. Thank you again for hosting this great challenge! Purrs to all of you!

  4. Your answers are so genuine and kind. I think we can all relate.
    Especially about skunks, death, and rescuing cats!

  5. Amazing answers! Thanks for helping the ferals, we can so relate. We have 5 kittens we’ve yet to capture, they are sure quick to run to safety and won’t approach a trap at all.

  6. What a genius idea using hair conditioner when you run out of shaving cream – I bet that would work waaaaay better than just lathering up with soap like I end up doing! I’ll try your idea next time I run out of shaving cream. 🙂

    Totally with you on being afraid of those I love dying.

    Love that you help feral cats – we’ve rescued and kept 3 – couldn’t leave them to fend for themselves out in the wild! 🙂

    1. Thank you, conditioner works great. That is sweet that you kept the ones you rescued. I would love to keep these, but I have 13 and the woman I am helping has 7 and several of hers are special needs. We won’t release the kittens though, she is going to find homes for them.

  7. I’d have to say I also fear my loved ones dying or getting hurt, although snakes and mice are a close second. It’s great that you feel so empowered helping out cats too! A friend of mine who takes in strays told me the same thing.

  8. Howdy Ellie Mae, I use conditioner in place of shaving cream, too. I read about this alternative online I believe, but for the most part I just use the shampoo foam and that works equally well for me without the added expense. I don’t have a fear of my own death, too. However, it bothers me to think of those I love dying. That makes me very sad. I’m not afraid of mice. I just hate them. Snakes…yeah they scare me a bit, but thankfully those are outside whereas mice usually get inside nearly every winter. I wish we had a herd of outdoor cats to keep these varmints away. Too bad the neighborhood skunk can’t do the job. Now that I think about it, I don’t notice him in the cooler months just during the spring and summer. Hmm, I wonder why that is? Do they hibernate? Oh well…thanks for hosting the Friday fun!

    1. Ellie Mae , that is me 🙂 I don’t know if skunks hybernate,I just know they smell awful. They don’t eat mice either-pretty useless 🙂

  9. awesum anzwerz guys…N way kewl on gettin de kittehz & we hope de trubull maker can get catched ☺☺☺

    heerz two a ghost pipefish kinda week oh end ~~~ ♥♥♥

  10. I am afraid of losing those that I love, too. It doesn’t help when I have bad dreams showing it happen. 🙁
    I wouldn’t want to get sprayed by a skunk either. EWWWW
    I think that it is great that you’re able to help the kitties.
    I always just use regular soap when I shave. So many things out there have a fragrance and they generally give me a headache. Safeguard with Aloe, white or beige, work fine for me.
    I think that it is great when people are able to get back up and try again when things didn’t work out how they’d planned.
    Have a blessed day.

    1. I can see why you have bad dreams after all you have been through with your husband’s illness. I don’t like the smells of most shaving creams either, only the EOS brand.

  11. I use soap instead of shaving lotion for the little shaving I do. The smell of shaving cream bothers Suzanne so, I don’t use it anymore.

    I can understand the concern about the skunk. Some people around here intentionally spray themselves with the scent to cover the scent of things they have smoked. I have asked them if they really think people don’t know what is going on. They are clueless.

    Believe it or not, the cliche of bathing in tomato juice after a skunk spray actually does work. We have a lot of skunks around here and the farmers were constantly getting sprayed. We sold a lot of tomato juice in the little stores we used to work at. It doesn’t hurt or burn, they tell me, just stinks. Keep a little tomato juice on hand. About 3 large cans of V-8 original will do fine.

  12. Ohhhhh these are very thought provoking fill in answers.
    I don’t think we could not eat after 5 pm…we usually have supper at 5:30 or 5:45.
    Happy Friday
    Hugs madi and mom

  13. They are adorable. Glad ya’ got them safe and sound now. Mommy says she epilated and lasered so there are lots of places she no longer has to shave. And she too hates mice of any variety, alive or dead. MOL Her and sis Lexi once spent 30 minutes screamin’ on da couch till sis Lexi’s brofur Lucky played a mousey to death. Yep, even sis Lexi. Such girly girls are we.

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena

    1. Good to know your Mommy is afraid of even dead mice like I am. I shave my legs almost daily plus I get my eyebrows and lip waxed every 6 weeks.

  14. Hurrah fur yur trappin skills there Lady Ellen!! Yur doin so much good helpin thee Feral katss get fixed an helped!!
    ~~~head rubsss~~~ Siddhartha Henry~~~ an ((hugsss)) LadyMum
  15. Conditioner is an excellent substitute for shaving cream, very smart! I haven’t heard of James Altucher but it sounds like there are definitely some good things we can learn from him! I think the older that we get the more we realize how short life is and how quickly we can lose someone. Helping take care of anyone or anything that can’t fend for themselves is definitely empowering, and it’s awesome too! When we help others we feel good, and we bless their lives too. Who could resist those precious little furry faces?! Thanks for the great questions!
    1. I highly recommend James Altucher’s books and website. I agree it feels good to help others.
  16. I wish Tw drove cos our TNR is always axing for rides for their cats. They have a better social life than she does.
    1. When I run out of food, I use TW’s hand instead.
    2. My guru is ME. BTW, your guru who’s failed at lots of stuff sounds like Donald Trump. MOL.
    3. I am afraid of nothing. .
    4. I feel empowered when I jump into bed and stare down TW and she cowers under the covers begging me not to attack her.
    1. Thanks for your answers CK, you are a toughie staring down TW and using her hand for food 🙂 I think my guru would make a better president than Trump.:)
