Friendly Fill-Ins Week 147

Hi everyone! Time for the Friendly Fill-Ins. Please leave your link (at bottom of post) here or at my co-host’s Four-Legged Furballs. You can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate.

1. I am always ____________________.

2. I brake for ______________________

3. I’d be lying if I said _________.

4. _________ wins the race.
My answers:
1. I am always itchy. Not sure if it is dry skin or my intolerance to msg, but I need to take Allegra daily and sometimes Benadryl too.
2. I brake for any living thing in the road and for free stuff in people’s yards. No tag sales though.
3. I’d be lying if I said that life with so many cats is always wonderful. They are a lot of work and very expensive- very worth it though.
4. Persistence wins the race.
We are also joining Create With Joy’s Friendship Friday and Feline Friday currently hosted by Comedy Plus.
One more Mardi Gras photo.

  1. The whole reason there are only three of us is my human is well aware of what she can afford, cat-wise, and keep us all healthy and (relatively) happy (or in Bing’s case, not so grouchy). So we get the best food and run up vet bills that make her groan but not panic.

  2. Great answers, Ms. Ellen…. I totally agree on #4, and now understand #2…. Since I am too short to drive, that one baffled me and I suspected a typo. That said, I still think treats are purrfect reasons to take breaks.
    Purrseidon

  3. I totally agree with 2. and 4. Mercifully, I don’t itch much although I am now as reading about it has made me want to scratch! We only have one cat, officially, although our neighbour’s cat practically lives with us because he doesn’t like their dog.

    1. That is sweet of you to care for the neighbor’s cat- I hope Carlton agrees. 🙂

  4. Great fill ins. I can relate to #3.
When we took on my MIL’s 10 cats after she died three were elderly and two had health problems. Then there were the seven kittens born because one of her two unspayed females was already pregnant when we took them in to be spayed. We loved them all though and they became part of our family. We found homes for six of the kittens and no-one wanted the runt of the litter who was to become our Kitty Yumbum.
She was the last of the original cats and pined when her last brother died. That was when we got Eric and Flynn to keep her company. After originally wanting nothing to do with them they soon became inseparable and she had another two happy years with us.

    1. WOW ! Your MIL certainly was a cat lover. How kind of you to care for her cats when she passed. XO

  5. Life is never perfect, as Sweetie would say, there is a pot that comes with every plant.

These days i am careful on what free stuff i am willing to pick up or let my family bring in the house. If it’s cloth furniture, it’s not allowed in my house, i am too concerned about bugs.

  6. Great filling in today! My Mom doesn’t stop at yard sales or freebies because she’s afraid she WILL want something and she thinks we have enough “stuff” as it is. I never mind getting something NEW to smell!!! Taking care of so many kitties has to be not only a worry but a lot of work but you do it with LOVE and that gets you through.

Hugs and Happy Friday and thanks for being a HOSTESS for fill-ins!
    Love, Teddy

    1. Thank you 🙂 I have plenty of stuff too 🙂 XO and love to you both.

  7. Looks like Mardi Gras was festive and fun for the Meowing Crew and Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head! I believe you on your #3. Here are my Fill-ins…
    1. I am always thinking about what I am going to eat next.
    2. I brake for anything or anybody that stops in front of me and animals on the road. Hopefully I see that I have to brake in plenty of time.
    3. I’d be lying if I said I like fried oysters… ick.
    4. Kindness wins the race.

    1. We are a festive bunch. Thank you for these great fill-in answers. I am always thinking of what to eat next too 🙂 And ick on any kind of oysters. I hope you have a nice weekend. XO

  8. Oh yes, I too am well aware of how expensive vet care is, especially for seniors. Ouch. And Mardi Gras… is a condition that hangs over, I’m told. 🙂 PS: I love Jergens Healing Very Dry Skin, fragrance free. It works very well.

  9. Great fill-ins. We so agree with # 3. There are way too many cats here but luckily half of them live outside. I am so lucky that I have some good friends that help with the expense of them. In the area that I live in, it is very hard to find homes for them.
Everyone looks great in their beads. Have a good day Ellen and a good weekend.

  10. Great answers as always. We have similar answers to #2 except for the garage sales. I don’t brake for those, but I do get out and browse. I’ve been feeling itchy alot, too. I think it’s dry skin for me. I’m hoping if we ever get to spring and the weather warms up, it will be better. Hope you have a great weekend!

  11. Cute pic!

Mum would have liked to have adopted 2 cats but she couldn’t afford it. Doesn’t bother me, though as I get all the attention and love!

  12. Love your fill-ins. Kitties and pups are worth the expense. They bring such joy. I agree with you.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥

  13. guyz….tell mom ta get 100 % coconut oil for her skinz…noe joke…when itz in liquid form her needs veree little ta put on her skinz….it bee all natural sew it willna hurt de crew ~~~~~~~~~~~~ N brakes get put on heer az well ☺☺♥♥

  14. Sorry to hear about the itchiness! Is it worse in the wintertime? And yes, I love the cats to bits, but there are times when I’d like to sleep in, or NOT go outside to feed The ‘O’ Cats, and defending my food from Da Boyz can get tiresome. And yet, with a smile, it all is okay!

    1. Thank you 🙂 No, I am itchy year round. I would go out if I had to, but I am glad all mine are inside.

  15. I absolutely with #3. When you are fully committed to living with cats you share every moment, good or bad, with your furbabies!

  16. What Summer said! Pop wanted two cats but the shelter didn’t have any bonded ones and Mitzi didn’t work out. Persistence doesn’t win in TW’s book. I lose my bed if I persist at night.

  17. Good answers. I do believe that it must be hard work to take care of all your fur babies. You are superwoman!

  18. Amen to #2! A guy on Instagram the other day posted about a wooden plaque photo of my Conway that he found on the side of the road with someone’s trash! I asked if he wanted to sell it but he didn’t 🙁 If I had seen it I probably would’ve gone off the road!

    1. He was lucky to find that 🙂 I have gotten an ottoman and a nice table 🙂

    1. I am afraid of creams because I don’t want the cats to get sick Joanie likes to lick me 🙂

  19. OMC, our mom takes Benadryl (H1 blocker) and Pepcid (H2 blocker) each night so she can get a full night’s sleep, or at least close to one. Her itchies erupted about 2 months ago and it is pure torture! Thank cod it’s not us. 😉

Love the extra Mardi Gras pic!

  20. We all love our pets – so much – but they can bring challenges and stress into our lives that we did not anticipate; especially when they get older. Sam has been giving us a lot lately! But we would not have it any other way, as we know you wouldn’t. ♥

  21. Well, mommy swerves fur anythin’ in the road. Altho’ lately, she’s not sure ifin she’d swerve or speed up ifin it was the ‘pawrtment manager. MOL Big hugs

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena

  22. Your fill-ins are fantastic, as always! Being itchy is one of the most annoying things I can think of. I used to never have problems with this, and I was the only one in my family without eczema. Then, about five years ago, I started developing eczema and it never went away. It’s the worst in the summer, and when I eat dairy. I know what you mean about life with multiple cats. I frequently come home to a house that looks like it’s been crashed by a frat party, and it’s not cheap taking care of those kitties. But, more importantly, they are sure are more than worth it!

    1. Dairy triggers my other skin condition. I do have eczema too. I agree, they are worth it 🙂 XO
