Friendly Fill-Ins Week 138

Hi everyone! Time for the Friendly Fill-Ins. Please leave your link (at bottom of post) here or at my co-host’s Four-Legged Furballs. You can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate.

1. Looking back, _________________________.

2. _________________ is a treat I give to myself.
3. A new skill I want to learn is _________.
4. One bad habit I want to stop is _________.

My answers:

  1. Looking back, this is something I don’t do. I used to do it often, but now I find it too depressing.
  2. A pedicure is a treat I give to myself. I don’t actually give them to myself, but it is a treat I allow myself every 6 weeks.
  3. A new skill I want to learn is writing. I would like to take a poetry class so all my poems wouldn’t just be rhymes.
  4. One bad habit I want to stop is eating junk food every day.
We are also joining Create With Joy’s Friendship Friday and Feline Friday currently hosted by Comedy Plus.
Sammy had to dress as Sebastian from The Little Mermaid because The Great One wore her mermaid outfit. Joanie and Prancie were dressed as mermaids too.

  1. Sammy, you make a great Sebastian. 🙂

I do a lot of looking back, but it is necessary, to a degree, when working on family history. I do a lot of it outside of family history research, too, and, yes, it can be pretty depressing. We just have to try to find the happy times, however many or few, and hold onto them tightly.

I’ve never had a pedicure. I don’t think that I could stand it. My feet are very ticklish. 🙂

There are some great sites online to learn about poetry writing and many poetry challenges out there, too. Best wishes to you as you seek to learn new ways of writing. Have fun!

Thanks for the fill-ins. Have a blessed day and weekend. 🙂

    1. Sammy thanks you 🙂 I will have to look up some poetry writing sites. Have a blessed weekend. XO

  2. I think we all eat more junk food than we should. I try to make popcorn everyday, which should be better than most other junk foods. I sometimes put too much salt on it and often get it too oily. Sometimes I eat out of boredom. I guess that is true of many of us.

    Have a blessed week.

    1. I eat a lot of popcorn- covered in cheddar ( smart Food) 🙂 I hope you have a blessed week too.

  3. A pedicure is a great treat. As for poems, i enjoy yours. They sound like you are having such fun when you write them.

One thing that helped me eat less junk food was to eat more healthy food, i didn’t have room for as much junk.

Sammy makes a very good Sebastian, i am glad he played along.

    1. Thank you I am glad you like my poems. I do like writing them. Sammy thanks you too. XO

      1. Yes definitely. Personally during 2018 I lost a friend I had known since infants school to cancer, and another friend of 10 years, also to cancer. This makes me more determined to fight my cancer.

  4. Sammy you look like you are trying to be very patient with your costume on while you play with The Great One! I think you do a great job with your poetry Ellen – poetry doesn’t have to rhyme – there are so many forms and it’s fun to explore all of them! Today the Linky Form was different – and somehow we are on the list twice so feel free to take one of them off AND no uploaded photo available??!! Happy Thursday………

    Hugs, Pam

    1. Sammy thanks you. I think I clicked the wrong kind of link for today- sorry about that. I am glad you like my poems. I would like to learn more styles. XO

  5. Sammy is most adorable. Purrfect for Feline Friday.

I love all your answers and junk food is ever so good. I rarely have junk food. I’m way older and it does badness to me anymore.

Thanks for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. My best to your peeps. ♥

    1. I hate looking back because I have lost too many loved ones ( kitties included). XO

  6. Sammie LQQKING fantabulosa there heheh!

I like your fill-ins I prefer not to look back either, and I am sure one day you will make a fab poet 🙂

    Have a rhymelesstastic weekend 🙂

  7. shop vac…..dood……seer ee iz lee budd y??? !!! ☺☺☺☺☺☺

  8. Mom says she waited way too many years to have a pedicure. She loves them!!! And now that it is harder to manipulate the body into an easy position for cutting, the pedicure is even more appreciated:)

    Happy weekend.

  9. I had my first pedicure at 51. CH’s Mom gave it to me for my birthday. I enjoyed it and I love toe paint but I don’t get them anymore. I like my toes paintless I guess… 🙂 I look back a lot, more than I should I think… you know, all that living in the moment now thing. You might have it right, I think. I’m with you in your #4… I think I agree with your 4 often! The Great One and The Three Little Mermaid Cats!!!
    1. Looking back, I’m finding I miss Missouri and the seasons. I missed the summer there that weren’t as hot or as HUMID. I miss a bit of snow and wearing boots and jeans.
    2. Eating Peanut M&M’s is a treat I give to myself. (too much)
    3. A new skill I want to learn is taking better pictures with my phone camera.
    4. One bad habit I want to stop is getting all kinds of unhealthy take-out because it is close here and tastes delicious… 🙂
Thanks for letting me do Fill-ins here… my goal is to actually post a Fill-in on my own blog!

    1. Thank you for these great answers. I got my first pedicure at 44 and was hooked. My feet get so dry and cracked that I love that the lady gets all that off.
Take-out is addictive 🙂 And so much more fun than cooking yourself. I would miss snow. I like being cold. XO

  10. I guess the older we get, the harder it is to NOT look back and dwell on all we have lost, and how much has changed. You are wise to try to focus on the present instead, no matter what your reasons are. ♥

  11. So, you like pedicures? Mommy says she hates anypawdy playin’ with her feet, includin’ us. MOL Sammy makes a great mermaid. Big hugs

    Luv ya’

  12. Ellen,

Your rhyming poems are cute but I get where you’re coming from, though. I’d love to stay away from junk food on a daily basis or at least scale it back. That’s definitely something I will strive to make better this year. I am better than I was from years ago but there’s always room for improvement. 🙂

    1. Thank you, I am glad you like my poems. I am really bad about junk food except during Lent. XO

  13. I know what you mean about looking back. Memories can be a wonderful thing, but also very painful. And I also relate to your thoughts on poetry. I can only write rhymes, as I’m terrible at the more profound poetry that is non-rhyming but still lyrical. I have never been able to succeed at those kinds of poems.

Sammy, The Little Mermaid has always been one of my favorite Disney movies, and you are way cuter than the original Sebastian!
