Contest-Last Day to Enter and Phoebe’s Story

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a nice weekend. Today is the last day to enter the contest to win 2 IKEA mice and a laser pointer. All you have to do is comment, if you have since Friday then you are entered.

Today is “Every Cat Has a Story” day and I am going to tell you about Phoebe. Phoebe is the sweetest, more PURRsonable cat we have. We call her Miss Congeniality because she always helps the newbies get settled and gets along with all the other cats.

Poor Phoebe had a rough start, she was adopted as a kitten by a lady that was too ignorant to get her fixed. She ended up being pregnant before she was 1. Then the woman ( she was a friend of a friend) was going to leave her and her brother on the highway thinking they would get found quicker. Luckily, my friend stepped in and brought the other cat back to the shelter he had come from and found a place that would take Phoebe in. She asked me to take the ride with her and it was love at first site. I held her crate on my lap the whole ride and she purred and purred. By the time we arrived to the meeting spot, an hour and a half later, I had to have her.

Unfortunately, my hubby wasn’t going to let me take in a pregnant cat. I got the lady’s email ( she was a volunteer from http://www.neponsethumane.org/ ) We kept in touch and when Phoebe’s kittens were weaned, I was able to adopt her. Sadly, 2 of her 4 kittens died 🙁  I used my “birthday month” to get Phoebe into the house and the rest is history. That was way back in 2003 and I can’t imagine life without her- even my hubby who was so difficult at first, adores her. 001Sometimes when Phoebe saves up some money, she donates it to shelters.

  1. Sometimes a cat can work his/her way into your heart in just a second…it only takes one look into their eyes. That’s how it was for me with both Astrid and Calista Jo. I was so surprised to find a link to The Cat on My Head on your Links page. How come I don’t know you? Or am I having a senior moment. I have signed up to get your posts via e-mail. 1. Thanks for signing up to get my posts. I put your blog on my links because I really enjoy it. I love the name, Catonmyhead as I sleep with a 20 pounder on mine- LOL.

    1. Thank you Laila and Minchie. I get jealous because I save the kitties and almost all of them prefer Daddy.

  2. We are so glad someone with better sense than to dump cats on the side of a highway stepped in! It’s a quicker way to get them run over, of course! We can only shake our heads, but at least the story has a very happy ending! Thanks for stopping by, it’s nice to meet you. If you have the time, we are having a comment-a-thon to benefit one of our favorite rescues today.

    1. I love comment-a-thons, I just went over and commented. Great party, I love the box and all the goodies 🙂

  3. Oh, she’s LOVELY!

That woman who was gonna leave them by the highway… MO– USES! What I’m thinkin’ right now isn’t fit to publish.

Thank God your friend and you were able to step in and save them.
