Awww…Monday

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww….Mondays.

Joanie and Gremmie are posing with the books I am currently reading. All three are worth a mention.

Of Time and Turtles: Mending the World Shell by Shattered Shell by Sy Montgomery is really interesting. It is all about a couple who rescue turtles. I love turtles. I had two for pets for many years.

The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music by David Grohl. He founded The Foo Fighters alternative rock band. I am more of a classic rock kind of girl so I had no idea who he was. I enjoy reading life stories to see how people climb to fame so I am enjoying this.

And lastly, Being Henry: The Fonz and Beyond by Henry Winkler. As a kid, I was a huge fan of The Fonz so I was eager to read this.

  1. You always have such an eclectic selection of reading material – which means you’re interested in everything! My brother and I had turtles when we were kids……it was a big craze back then and the tiny turtles were fun to play with. I’m sure the turtles would have preferred their natural habitat over the plastic “homes” that pet shops sold!

    Hugs, Pam

    1. Thank you. Yes, they were popular until it became illegal to see any turtle under 4 inches. 🙂 XO

  2. Oh, mama loves turtles, too, and we love your recommendations, sparking interest in other material than novels, histories, and such. You might enjoy Jaqueline Winspear’s Next Year We’ll All Be Laughing….from the author of the Maisie Dobbs series set in WW I and II.

    1. Thank you. I did read that a while ago and enjoyed it. I believe you recommended it. I am now reading the Thursday Murder Club you recommended. XO

  3. Dad says thanks for the tip. He wants to read Dave Grohl’s book, and says one day hopes to see the
Foo Fighters in person, as long as tickets don’t drain the bank account.

  4. Henry Winkler was always a great actor I still enjoy seeing when he’s doing something. By the way, I bought the magazine over the weekend and I read about your two kitties. I haven’t known you where the cat’s long enough to realize where you’ve managed to save them. How far did these sisters have to travel to get them to you?

    1. Awww..thank you for getting the magazine. The kitties were driven from California to Massachusetts- 3000 miles. XO

  5. A book about turtle rescuing 🐢💗 … and what did you think about the Henry Winkler book?

  6. awww, the literary kitty! 🙂 I like books like these, true stories about real people – memoirs. We had a box turtle for a long time, too. 🙂

    1. Memoirs are my favorite. 🙂 How long did your turtle live for? Mine lived 11 and 13 yrs which doesn’t seem long. XO

  7. Great posers and three great reads too. I love Henry Winkler.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Ellen. Scritches to the kitties. xo ♥

  8. Chaplin: “Hmm, we have never had a turtle here. But Dennis had a turtle stuffie once.”
Oona: “Oona has never seen such a stuffie.”
Chaplin: “Yes well bad things tended to happen to Dennis’s stuffies.”
Charlee: “Does the book explain how it’s turtles all the way down? I have never been able to figure that one out.”
Lulu: “Our neighbors have a tortoise. She is huge. She tried to dig her way into our yard once.”
Java Bean: “Ayyy, yes, that was super interesting to investigate! Until Dada made us stop.”
