Penny’s Tips Volume 21

Hi everyone! Can you believe I get to post 2 weeks in a row? It is about time!

My tip is to use a penny as a screwdriver. See this toy bunk bed, Mom has had it since she was a kid ( I guess that makes it an antique).

The Great One likes to play with it. One day , Mom realized a screw was loose so instead of going down to the basement for a screwdriver, Lazy Mom just grabbed a penny to tighten it.

Pardon her man hands, unfortunately there are no funds to hire a hand model.

  1. Oh, Penny, I know you’re nicer than you sound here. ~pets head~ You have such loving parents it’s amazing, and you know it. Nice tip, too.Have a blessed day!

    1. Sorry, I have tortitude 🙂 My Mom thanks you though and we both hope you had a blessed day. XO

  2. Very good idea to use a penny like that…….They do come in handy for repairs! Want I want to know is how your Mom has managed to keep that cute bunk bed from being occupied by one of you kitties in the house? Looks like it would be a terrific nap spot!

    Hugs, Teddy

  3. I don’t know why they want to get rid of pennies. They’re just so useful! Isn’t it time to repurpose that adorable bed from dolls to kitties?! It’s so cute! 😀 <3

    1. Glad I made you laugh 🙂 None of us have tried the bunk beds, we have our own that take crib sized mattresses so we have lots more room 🙂 XO

  4. Ellen/Penny,

I’ve used pennies. nickles, and quarters for a makeshift screwdriver. They are marvelous, handy tools. The thing is these days I don’t have many coins on hand because we use plastic to pay so cash we rarely use and even if we do it’s most greenbacks. Change is just too hard to keep up with anymore. Gosh, how times have changed!

  5. We also have used a dime as a screwdriver when it’s a smaller screw. We love that bunk bed–do you kitties ever try and sleep in it?

    1. That is a good idea too. No, we have not tried to sleep in it- maybe we should?

  6. LOL – you’re funny, Penny! That is some handy advice, especially since my hubby is always hiding the screwdrivers from me (he just never puts them where they belong)!

  7. Great tip! Works for so many things. Makes me think of the battery compartment underneath old film cameras. I always used a coin to open them.

  8. I see nothing wrong with your moms hands. I also use pennies to tighten screws. Well except if it requires a phillips screwdriver. A penny doesn’t work very well with those.

Have a purrfect Happy Tuesday, Penny. Scritches to all the kitties and my very best to your mom. ♥

  9. Those pennies sure do come in handy for all sorts of things, don’t they? Thanks for another great Penny Tip.

  10. You are the most adorable name, Penny! I love that your peeps use it as a device for cute posts, and I found a penny on the floor the other day at a restaurant. I put it in my pocket, and figured it was good luck!

  12. That’s a great tip Penny. Mommy’s tried that a few times, unfurtunately, the screws have always been too small. But it is a great tip. Big hugs

  14. A Cabbage Patch doll! I remember when there were near riots for peeps to grab one in the stores, MOL!
Petcretary used to use them to model the baby things she knitted or crocheted for others so that she had a pictorial record of them since they were not made from patterns.
That is clevfur to use a penny in a screw to tighten it. We keep a coin at work, to open the bathroom door if a resident locks themselves in there…
