Hopping Monday

Hi everyone! We are joining Comedy Plus’ Awww…Mondays, McGuffy’s Reader’s Sparks and Mewsic Moves Me ( hosted by Curious as a Cathy, Xmas Dolly, JAmerican Spice and Stacy Uncorked.) Book Date’s It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading? And it is day 14 of the  A-Z Blogging Challenge.

Joanie is modeling my N creation, a necktie. I had made a nectarine, but it was basically a small orange ball so I decided to make this instead.

My Spark for today is a quote I found on Pinterest, but it did not list the author. ” We are stars wrapped in skin-the light you are seeking has always been within. ” So lets all shine 🙂

Today’s Mewsic Moves Me is our choice for a theme so I chose songs with the word Star in the title.

  1. Bad Company : Shooting Star (1975)

2. When You Wish Upon A Star (1940)-Pinocchio movie

3. Madonna’s Lucky Star ( 1983)

I am reading a sad memoir by Joyce Maynard titled The Best of Us: A Memoir. She is a famous author who was single for many years after divorcing her first husband. She finally meets and marries her true soul mate, but their time is cut short when he is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It is very sad, but reading about the start of their relationship has reminded me of my own and how much I love my husband. Please don’t misunderstand me, I always love him, but sometimes life gets in the way and it is easy to take someone for granted. This is a great reminder to not do that.

  1. Joanie wears your necktie well. Maybe your nectarine just needs a little green leaf added to the top to make it look less like an orange ball.

  2. Oh that necktie is FABULOUS! Love it……also love your “STAR” songs. My Mom used to sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” to Sammy every morning when they took their “walks in the dark” before the sun came up.

    Love and Monday Hugs, Teddy

    1. Thank you. That is sweet that your Mom used to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to Sammy. XO and love to you and your Mom too.

  3. Ellen,

LOL, Joanie looks nice wearing the necktie you made for today’s prompt. Nice quote, we are all stars and need to shine for all the world to see!! Great mewsic selections to match your SPARKS! Today’s post is a hodgepodge of posts with 4M, Sparks, A2Z, & BoTB. Have a tunetastic week and happy A2Zing, my friend!

  4. Those are such good songs. Your spark is terrific too. But we love you saying that ‘life gets in the way sometimes.’ We so like the necktie. That is terrific. You all have a great day.

  5. That does sound like a very sad memoir. It is also a reminder to be mindful. There is never a guarantee for another day. Sometimes we forget and take the ones we love for granted.

  6. Love that necktie and the songs. So true that life can get in the way, which hopefully helps us grow in the right direction. Have a purrfect week.

  7. What a gorgeous necktie on such a gorgeous model! We bet your nectarine looks wonderful, too. And what a wonderful thought for your Sparks today. It’s a great reminder that we all have a light within us. Happy Monday!

  8. Joanie you are a gorgeous necktie model.

You are correct about the book you are reading. Life does get in our way and all the things we must and have to do..living each day to the fullest is important and always remembering those who live with us!!
    Hugs Madi and mom

  9. Joanie looks so cute and stylish with the necktie!
The memoir sounds like great read. You are right, it’s really easy to take someone for granted.
    Happy Monday! xo

    1. I will have to make you, my nephew a tie 🙂 What color?
I think I would like a book set in Norway, it sounds interesting. XO

  15. Great star songs! And what a lovely necktie 🙂 Can’t go wrong with starting out with Bad Company (but then… I do love my Classic Rock!)

  16. That is a wonderful Spark, and a good way to think of ourselves. The necktie is super cute. Mom says that she’s heard about that book. She does enjoy reading memoirs; though, they often are sad. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

  17. Joanie, you look so lovely in your necktie!

I have a hard time reading sad books, and tend to avoid them. But you are right that we need to not take those we love for granted.

  18. Good songs, all three, especially Bad Company. Ha, rhyming.
Well, Joanie, you are looking ab fab in that sweet necktie.
I don’t think that quote has a known author but it sure is a good one (although I thought it might be from Star Trek).

  19. AWWWW I love that little Jiminy Cricket (Cliff Edwards) Such a sweet voice & yes I know it’s really a pudgy little guy that really sings it, but not in my heart. I love that little guy & Pinocchio is one of my Disney favorite movies. Is that tie crocheted? It’s very pretty! I love to crochet in fact I’m crocheting a shawl for my sister-in-law for her birthday & a bed apron for my nephew & his about to be wife for their wedding shower. Anyway, great job. Thanks for sharing!

  20. Oh, how I love “Shooting Star”! As for what I’m reading, I’m currently devouring Compelled By Fate by Christa Paige. I’m still a fan of the vampire genre, and love well thought out paranormal romances, which her books definitely are.

    1. Thank you for the link, that was a good one too. I visited you this morning, I remember being interested in the Frank Baum book 🙂

  21. Sorry i am late to the party today, it’s been rough. It is every easy to take our loved ones for granted, figuring they will always be there. It’s one reason i try to think of reasons to be grateful every day, so i will remember.

  22. The necktie is cute and love the evil eye you are getting. Hearing about the lady who’s soul mate must deal with a very bad cancer just tells me how much to enjoy each day especially with ones loved one. My hubby’s mom died of this cancer
