Hi everyone! Time for Friendly Fill-Ins. Be sure to add your link at McGuffy’s Reader. You can also answer in the comment section. Thank you to all who participate, it is a pleasure getting to know everyone better.
1. Blind dates _______________.
2. _______________years ago, I _______________________.
3. I admire because .
4. makes me think .
My answers:
1. Blind dates can actually work out sometime. That is how I met my hubby, a friend of a friend thought we would be a good match-and she was correct. That blind date was June 4, 1989. I actually refused at first, but changed my mind a week later.
2. 25 years ago, I was planning our wedding and working as a mental health counselor. I only have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and still can’t believe I used to meet with mentally ill people and attempt to help them. They still had therapists and psychiatrists, but looking back now I realize how unqualified I was along with the rest of the staff. This is probably why so many people with mental illness don’t get to function as well as they could.
3.I admire anyone who fosters cats because I know my heart won’t let me. Maybe I am selfish, but once something is in my care, I can’t give it up. I am sure it breaks their heart every time they have to part with a kitty, but they keep doing it and saving so many.
4. My inflamed ingrown toenail makes me think using scissors to cut my nails wasn’t a wise choice. 🙂
We are also joining Feline Friday which is currently being hosted by Comedy Plus.
My Sammy has been at Cat Scouts summer camp ( virtually) all week. Here he is working on a project of sewing a cap. Come back tomorrow to see how he looks in it.
What a romantic story!
Thank you 🙂
Sammy, we saw you in your cap at Cat Scouts, and you looked fabulous. Our mom never went on any blind dates. She thinks it is very cool, Mom Ellen, that you and your husband met that way. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
Thank you. I am glad you like Sammy in his cap. XO
Oh, I love your love story! That was meant to be! Your job in mental health care was very important and brave. That is not for everyone.
It is hard to foster. I cry every time I place rescue kittens. It is scary to not know what happens to them after they leave me.
Go see a doctor for that toe! Now! Hugs, my sweet friend.
Thank you, we were meant to be 🙂
That was a tough job and I still think of those people often and wonder what became of them.
I admire what you do with fostering.
I hope to get to the Dr. next week. XO
I am glad your blind date worked out so well. 🙂 I have never been on one and my husband would prefer it stay that way. LOL
I have a lot of admiration for those who can foster cats as well. And dogs, for that matter. I would love to do that. I just don’t have the lifestyle for it though. Maybe someday. Maybe when I retire.
I can’t wait to see Sammy in his hat. 🙂
(I hope your toe is okay!)
Yes, I am sure he would 🙂 Sammy will show off his hat soon 🙂
We’re not sure that better academical education would improve mental health service. Hm. Difficult question. Work training and multi-skilled teams would be great.
I agree with your ideas.
Fantastic answers, as always! How wonderful that your friend of a friend thought to match up you and your husband. And I completely agree with your answer for #3. Though I really want to foster rescue animals, I just know I would end up keeping them all. Thank you for hosting this challenge! I always look forward to it!
Thank you. I was lucky 🙂 It would be hard not to keep them all.
You are right, it’s not easy to let go of our fosters, but if we didn’t, we wouldn’t be able to help any more.
Hope your toe is better soon.
I am thankful for people like you. XO
I so agree with you about fostering cats and that is why I have so many, I had two very young cats, and gave them to a friend and darned if one wandered off to never be seen again and the other she gave away because it was too much trouble. Biggest mistake of my life. It is so hard to find really good homes for the cats.
But we do admire the people that do the fostering and find them homes. Well done. You all have a great day.
Very few people truly take good care of their cats , it is hard to place them. XO
You and I have successful blind date stories Ellen…..that’s so cool. We agree with #3 too – no way could I give up a kitty….no way. I think you did a fabulous job on Sammy’s hat – Teddy likes his but not on his head (haha). It will be a challenge getting him to pose! Don’t forget today is Poetry Workshop at Camp at 1PM!
Hugs, Pam
We have a lot in common. I am glad your blind date was a success too. I hope Teddy cooperates. XO
I love your blind date story! Sometimes it does work. Online dating, too, which worked for me. I couldn’t give up a kitty either. I get much too attached.
I am glad your online dating worked too. 🙂
We enjoyed your answers and we couldn’t foster either, we would keep them all. Hey, our Mom is a therapist which comes in handy for or Dad MOL!
Thank you 🙂 That is so cool that your mom is a therapist, I admire anyone who does that kind of work.
Sammy is a handsome feline. An excellent choice for Feline Friday.
Have a purrfect day, Sammy. My best to your wonderful mom. ☺
Thank you 🙂 Mom sends her best.
I met my husband through a friend. We went on a blind date and stayed together for 29 years. Sadly, he passed away in 2009. Great fill in answers.
Have a great weekend!
Angel Normie, Angel Mika, Sasha & Grady Lewis
You were together a long time, I am sorry he passed away. XO
what a darling helpful cat!
Thank you 🙂
Good thing you changed your mind on that blind date! 🙂
I know 🙂
I had one blind date, and spent most of the time trying to think of a polite excuse to flee…. That said, a good friend met her husband that way, and obviously the concept worked for you, so maybe I’m just odd.
I guess it just depends if it is meant to be or not 🙂
Great fill-ins! Well, all except that last one. Sorry about your sore toe. Sending purrs!
Thank you. XO
I met my partner in 1989, too. Kind of funny. My love interest at the time was less than thrilled, I can tell you. Nice answers. I’m with you on fostering animals. I admire those that do. Be well!
Thank you, that is cool we met our partners at the same time.
I have a BA in Psychology and I can’t imagine having that kind of responsibility. From middle school on, I was sure I’d get my PhD and help adolescents who fall through the cracks because people believe middle class kids couldn’t be hungry or abused. By the time I finished my BA, I realized I couldn’t handle leaving things at the office. When someone I know is struggling – I feel his or her pain as if it were my own. I do the same thing with cats too 🙂
I know exactly how you feel about not being able to leave things at the office. I was like that with tutoring too. XO
guyz….way awesum yur mom meeted yur dad like that !!! N sammy; we bet yur gonna look most handsom in yur hat dood….have fun at camp ~ ♥3 🙂
Thank you. Sammy looks very handsome. XO
1. Blind dates never happened to me, but I did meet hubby via a ‘mail service’, writing letters to each other for a while before we ever met.Nowadys I think this is done online, LOL!
2. 25years ago, I was about to give birth to son number two.
3. I admire musicians and sport heroes, because they sure do have to work hard to keep up those talents. .
4. The events of these days makes me think evil is trying awfully hard to take over the world, but God will not let that happen because its all in His care. Maybe He is trying to teach us to rely on Him more than ourselves.
Deuteronomy 20:1
“When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you.
Psalm 33:17
A horse is a false hope for victory; Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength.
Proverbs 21:31
The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But victory belongs to the LORD.
Isaiah 31:1
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help And rely on horses, And trust in chariots because they are many And in horsemen because they are very strong, But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the LORD!

That was a wonderful thing you did for all those peeps. Just being there for someone is helpful, because you cared.
Thank you for your wonderful answers and Bible quotes. They are comforting, as I have been fearing war with North Korea. I try not to watch the news, but stuff shows up on the computer. I admire athletes and musicians, although I think they get paid too much compared to doctors who save lives. Have a nice weekend! XO
Super fill-in answers ! Mom never got to do our hats for Scouts.
The Florida Furkids
Thank you. I think Denmaster should grant you extra time because of your situation. XO
What great fill ins.. Ouch to the ingrown toenail. Many many years ago I had both my big toes operated on (at the same time) to correct ingrown toenails. At that time I learned you are only supposed to cut your toenails straight across never cut the sides that is how mine became ingrown.
Hugs C
I fear I may need surgery. XO
Fabulous answers ! We love your professional story, and your love story ! Purrs
Thank you. XO
I have a hard time fostering, too – and have several foster failures.
That is a good thing 🙂
I would like to foster, except I’d fail.
That is a good thing to fail at 🙂
That’s great that your blind date worked out so perfectly! I was just writing on another blog that the thought of a blind date gives me the shudders.
I bet Sammy will look adorable in his cap! I also admire cat fosters and am thankful for them.
I was very lucky 🙂
I’ve always felt the same way about fostering but the more I read about it and hear from friends that do it the more I think I just might jump in one day.
i wish I could, but we have a full home as it is 🙂
Fostering is hard! We did it twice and have a 50% success rate. Mickey Mouser is our beloved failed foster. We probably would have kept our other foster but the timing was bad.
I admire people who do such a wonderful job socializing kitties. Kittens at PAWS are adopted much faster because they learned to love people from their foster families.
xxoo
I love foster fails 🙂 I admire all who open their hearts to kitties in need. XO
You gots to be careful with the feet. You may wish to see a podiatrist about that toe. I am glad your blind date worked out so well. Have a great week.
Thank you. I hope to get to the Dr. next week. I was going to go yesterday and canceled because I wanted to be ready to get Joanie from the vet after her surgery. I need to get a referral from a regular Dr. first, it is such an inconvenience. I hope you have a great week too.
love the story of how you and your wonderful hubby met!
Thank you 🙂
How cool that you meet your husband on a blind date! What a romantic story.
Thank you 🙂
We both thought the same on #3. TW wanted to be a shrink when she was a teen but discovered she didn’t like school enough to hang around that long.
I only got through the 4 yrs., I couldn’t stand it any longer-or afford it.
I couldn’t foster cats either. I can barely walk by the kitties at PetSmart without wanting to take them all home.
I know what you mean 🙂
We can’t wait to see the cap!
He did a good job 🙂
If it was for Granny, she would take in all the foster kitties, knowing that they would stay furrever in her house 🙂 It’s so romantic how you and your hubby met. When it is meant to be, it doesn’t matter from which way it comes, it just comes 😀 Extra Pawkisses for a lovely day 🙂 <3
Thank you 🙂 I wish we could take in more kitties too. XO
I’m glad that your blind date worked out so well for you. 🙂
I am sure that you helped those people far more than you realize. Sometimes, it only takes someone listening to make a real difference in someone’s life. Sometimes it takes more than listening because there is a physical cause to the problems (brain tumor, pellagra, Alzheimers, etc.), but the start to the road to healing always involves someone caring enough to listen. You’re a very caring person, so I know you helped them.
Have a blessed weekend, Ellen. 🙂
Thank you for your kind words. I agree that listening is important and can be helpful. I hope you have a blessed weekend too! XO
