Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Athena’s Caturday Art and Ten Things of Thankful Blog Hops.

I decided to use Be Funky and added a grunge frame to Emmy’s photo. She is a sweet kitty, she is not a lap cat, but she does come near us for affection.

Here are my Ten Things of Thankful

  1. I am thankful for all my birthday wishes on the 23rd, including over 200 of them on Facebook.
  2. Got to go to a book sale with my hubby and then out to our favorite diner for blueberry pancakes.
  3. At the book sale, I scored an Amelia Bedelia book I didn’t have for only 50 cents. My Mom and I collect them and will read them to the great one eventually.
  4. Also scored some books I had never heard of that look interesting. I love going to book sales and finding older books I didn’t know existed.
  5. I attended a healing mass at a local shrine with my Mom and sister.
  6. Got to spend lots of quality time with my cats this week.
  7. Was much cooler this week and less humid.
  8. Homemade pickles I made taste great.
  9. More fresh from the patch blueberries, enough to freeze some.
  10. I am now 48 and have no aches or pains despite needing to lose a lot of weight. I know some people have arthritis and all sorts of pains at my age.

  1. Your Emmy took a great photo for Caturday Art.
You have a lot of great things to be thankful for. I’m glad you don’t have any aches and pains.

  2. My human is a bit older than you and she doesn’t have any aches or pains either. So that’s something to look forward to!

    1. Your human is physically fit though and I am not so I better start making an effort. πŸ™‚

  3. Looking good, Emmy, as always! I am really enjoying your lists of thankfuls. I am like you, and I love love love going to book sales and finding new goodies to read. Each summer my town also has a lot of large fundraiser garage sales at the local schools, and each of these usually has a large collection of books for sale. I always come home with tons of new reads. Purrs, and happy Saturday!

  4. I had to laugh when you said your age ! What should I say I am 74 ! Fortunately I am in good health and can’t complain about anything, at least not physically = But my friends have all something I am really lucky !

  5. What wonderful “thankfuls” !! Aches and pains seem to come with the territory at my age too – turning the BIG 70 this year – but I just move through all of that and ignore it as best I can. There’s always a silver lining – – – after all I’m still ALIVE! πŸ™‚ It’s always nice to put our thankfuls on paper too – we SEE them and are reminded of just how great things really are.

    Hugs, Pam

    1. I agree, it is nice to see our thankfuls written out. I am thankful for your friendship. XO

  6. Wishing you lots more books, kitty kisses, and health in your 48th year!

  7. Hi there Emmy. We like seeing you. The ten thankful things are terrific. I really like having time for all my kitties. Finding new books is always fun.

  8. Lots to be thankful for. I too love books. We have two bookcases and they are full. Books are such wonderful treasures. You can leave your home without ever stepping outside with a good book.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. Scritches to all the kitties. ☺

  9. Ha ha! Old at 48! Had to laugh. I used to love going to book sales (still do, in fact) but can no longer read the small print. So, I’m a big Kindle fan with the bigger font. The SPCA here has a huge book sale in May and I always go to help out the kitties.
    Little Emmy is a jewel.

    1. I feel like I am old even though I have no pains πŸ™‚ That is sweet of you to help out at the book sale. XO

  10. These are so many nice things for which to be thankful. Emmy looks so pretty and sweet. Those blueberry pancakes sound delicious! I love old books and Amelia Bedelia!

I would love to try your homemade pickles!

    1. Thank you, I am blessed. I am glad you know who Amelia Bedelia is πŸ™‚ I wish I could send you some pickles, but I bet the jar would crack.

  11. Happy Belated Birthday! I would like to be 48 again… or even 58! πŸ™‚ I am glad that you feel well. Most of us have extra weight, it isn’t easy to lose it and keep it off, I’ve done it a few times but always end up back where I was. SIGH

I think your grunge frame suits Emmy’s photo well. Smoky is a snuggly lap kitty but only when Papa Bear isn’t home, I guess he thinks he has to maintain his tomcat image around the big guy. πŸ™‚

Book sales are such fun, and I’m glad you found some good ones! Going out for pancakes afterwards makes it even better! It sounds like your blueberries are thriving too!

A healing mass is sure to give you a peaceful feeling, God has things in control even on the days when it is harder to see that with all the stress in our lives and the world.

I am thankful you had a cooler, less humid week too! We will probably not see cooler here til the beginning of October, but it’s usually not too humid at least.

What kind of pickles did you make? I miss my grandmother’s bread and butter pickles, they were the best! Papa Bear eats pickles with every meal! πŸ™‚

Time with the furkids is always precious, they so love the attention, to be brushed and played with and talked to! <3

Thank you for sharing such sweet thankfuls with us at TToT, have a blessed week ahead, Ellen! XOXO

    1. Thank you for commenting on all the thankfuls. I sent you the pickle recipe, but you already know that πŸ™‚ I hope you have a wonderful weekend. XO

  12. Emmy looks very sweet.
I never had any aches or pains until I broke my leg in 7 places 11 years ago (thank you Eric!) But on the other hand, if I hadn’t have broken it I wouldn’t have known about cats blogs or started blogging.

    1. That was a hidden blessing. I wish I had known of cat blogs sooner than I did.XO

  13. Good health is such a blessing. It allows you to really enjoy all the other blessings.
Our library does a humongous used book sale twice a year. I am like a kid in a candy store. You can fill a paper grocery bag for $5. Such a great way to explore new interests and authors.

  14. Those are so many things to be thankful for. Going to book sales are the best.

  15. Book sales! It’s been longer than I care to remember, the last time I went to a real, hold-in-your-hand book sale.
There was a time when a local used-book store used to be a regular weekly stop.
#10 …from which all (other Items spring). Cooler weather here, not a fan of the non-hot weather, but that doesn’t seem to change the climate. What the hecks up with that? lol

    1. If you want to go to a book sale go to booksalefinder.com and click on your state to find some πŸ™‚

  16. Love your list! It’s great to get to have a fun supper for your birthday, and i wish i could try your pickles.

  17. Emmy, you are sure a pretty girl but you should give the lap a go! We hear some cooler temps are coming our way and we’re all happy about that!

  18. I’m thankful TW finally finished her chores and is letting me visit you. TW didn’t start having aches and pains until the last year or two and she’s a hunnert.

  19. MY dear friend. 48 is a baby! πŸ™‚ YOu’re still scampering and zooming through the house!

I love book sales too and I have at least a thousand at home. Many are cherished friends that are re-read. Some are good friends and will remain here with me. One day I may cull out the hangers-on and donate them. πŸ™‚ And I love OLD OLD books. The contrast between topic and illustration is extraordinary sometimes.

I feel sure I did wish you a happy Birthday on FB but I will here as well as it is my pleasure to wish you a happy year with sweet surprises in store. xx

    1. Thank you, you are very sweet. Books are wonderful things, I feel bad that so many just use Kindles now. XO

  20. What a very nice picture, Emmy. None of our cats are truly lap cats either. Sophie will lay on her dad if she’s needing some love. But it’s very rare to have Olive or Dexter in a lap. Those are all wonderful things to be thankful for!

  21. Getting books at good prices always feels good. I have a whole pile I need to read, but getting my studies done first as I can’t get my head out of my academic mindset at the moment!

  22. That’s great that you don’t have any aches and pains yet. My mum is 51 and doesn’t either. She puts it down to a vegan diet and daily exercise. If only she had a healthy mind too and not get so depressed.

    Emmy is lovely πŸ™‚

    Purrs xx

  23. Oh to be 48 again…or maybe not…that was before I had the Big C…which is now all behind me forever I pray…
And yet, while I do have some aches and pains at age 62.5, I really cannot grumble too much. Some of then have been with me since I was about 18…go figure. I just deal with them…

If we all stop and think most of us have plenty to be thankful for! You betcha!
And you are a good friend, and my friends, cyber and real life are all jewels in my crown of thankfulness!

Emmy sure is a pretty kitty!

  24. Emmy, you are such a pretty girl! I too love books and have many on my to-read list!
