Hi everyone! Grammie was here on Monday and we had some relatives over for lunch. I was the only one that got to go in the dining room to visit, that is a cat free zone. I love my Grammie so very much. I am joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

Dad has the rows of blueberries all surrounded with fencing and netting so he thought it would be a great catio for us to go out in,but Mom said, “no cat of mine is going outside!”

She sounds just like Howard’s mother on The Big Bang Theory. Phooey!!

Here is my poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day, we had a choice of 4 words starting with c so I chose camera.

Annoying me with every flash
the least you could do is give me some cash.
A human with a camera is no fun
whenever I see one, I run.
If I can’t avoid this stint
at least I am going to squint.

Mom also wants to join Wandering Through the Shelves this week for TMP Television edition medical dramas.

  1. ER ( 1994-2009) – This one is self explanatory. Such a great show.
  2. House ( 2004-2012)- Hugh Laurie played Dr. House, a prescription drug addicted doctor that seemed to hate people, but was an amazing doctor.
  3. Nurse Jackie (2009-2015)- Edie Falco was so incredible in this role , the complete opposite of Carmella Soprano. She played a drug addicted nurse that was excellent at her job. This one is technically listed as a comedy, but there was a lot of drama.

And here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the second two.

  2. I actually LIKE the camera! But I guess I’m different from most kitties. My human has six words for that fortune: 7 figure income NYT Best Seller. Mine would be: Lots more fun adventures in store. I think mine will come true before hers… although you never know!

    Our bedrooms are cat free zones…and the livingroom is a dog-free one…
    Pipo agrees with you about the camera…he will lower his head as soon as it clicks…even if she uses the zoom lens…he knows. It can’t be from the flash she doesn’t use it.

  5. Excellent job with the poem this week Phoebe! I’ve learned the fine art of being uncooperative when the flashy box comes out too……I wait til the last second just as the flash goes then I GO – fast as can be! We’ll be pawticipating in the filling in tomorrow………

  8. What a purrfect poem for that flashy box, Phoebe! Squinting is indeed the best defense against it sometimes. And the shows you mentioned sure brought back some memories. I used to watch both ER and House all the time. And, of course, we can’t wait to get started on these fantastic fill-ins!

  11. Phoebe, squinting is an excellent way to avoid those flashes. That is a pawsome poem! Did you get any tasty noms while you were in the dining room. ER and House are two of our mom’s all-time favorite shows.

  19. phoebe; I totally understand about the camera; all I have to do is see the stupid phone { our camera } pointed at me and I take off running because I can because I want to because I dont want my picture taken and because I am codd mother and frankly dont need my picture blasted all over the internet if you catch my drift~~~~~~ hugs from dai$y =^..*= ♥♥♥

  26. Fun poem! And I sure enjoyed the show ‘House’. We binge watched it on Cloo over and over before some sadistic executives killed the whole channel. ~sigh~ Be well!

  29. I am just like your mom, Phoebe–I won’t even think of letting my kitties outside either. We’ve got too much stuff out there that could hurt them.

    We loved your poem! Natasha says all of you kitties should be getting cash for the photos that the humans get and post online.

  36. House is a popular one this week. I love Hugh Laurie and liked the show but it was on the wrong night for me to develop the habit of watching week after week. I’ve never seen a single episode of Nurse Jackie though I’ve been curious about it but I was a slavish follower of ER. LOVED that show until near the end of its run but in the beginning with the original cast it was often extraordinary.

    I reached back a bit for mine but loved all three.

    St. Elsewhere (1982-1988)-Set in Boston’s financially strapped St. Eligius Hospital (the St. Elsewhere of the title so called due to its less than exalted place in the city residents hearts despite it being a teaching hospital), headed by Drs. Donald Westphall, Daniel Auschlander and autocratic Mark Craig (Ed Flanders, Norman Lloyd and William Daniels respectively). The series follows the overlapping lives of many incoming residents, doctors and patients and their families, including something of a first for serial TV Westphall’s autistic son Tommy (Chad Allen). Critically acclaimed series that though never a big ratings success managed to run for six seasons as a prestige show for the network. This served as the launching pad for many stars including series regulars Denzel Washington, Alfre Woodard, Mark Harmon and Helen Hunt. Laced with an absurdist edge the show could be hysterically funny and also crushingly sad, sometimes within the same episode.

    M*A*S*H (1972-1983)-Long running comedy/drama show based on Robert Altman’s film about life in a Mobil Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War featuring the travails, both funny and sad, of Dr. “Hawkeye” Pierce (Alan Alda), Head Nurse Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan (Loretta Swit)-both of whom stayed throughout the series run-and the various others surgeons & aides-Trapper John, B.J., Henry Blake, Colonel Potter, Radar O’Reilly, Charles Winchester, Frank Burns, the crossdressing Max Klinger and Father Mulcahy who passed through. Beginning as a light hearted comedy this morphed through the years into one of the finest dramedy series in history. What kept it vital aside from excellent writing was the flow of characters during the years allowing for fresh interactions and situations.

    Medical Center (1971-1976)-Dr. Paul Lochner (James Daly-father of performers Tyne & Timothy) is the chief of staff at a large L.A. based hospital. Experienced and capable he is friendly with the young associate professor of surgery Dr. Joe Gannon (Chad Everett) but they often clash over medical procedures for the patients. Lochner favoring tried and true methods while Gannon believes in more experimental methods. Weekly different challenges present themselves to the doctors and nurses, overseen by Head Nurse Eve Wilcox (Audrey Totter).

    1. I never saw Medical Center, but the other two were good. Medical Center sounds good too, I should see if it is on dvd.

  37. I swear, that could have been me writing the list above that Joel wrote. I love medical dramas and those were fantastic. I loved St Elsewhere for certain, and the others he mentioned as well.

  38. Love your squinty cat and your poem is the opposite of what the Kardashiaasses would do:) House is very popular this week. I never got into E.R. But my brother did and my one friend and would upset them often since it showed kids dying and they has small kids at the time. I never watched Nurse Jackie but I heard great things about it. freedom..is taken for granted.
