Ten Things of Thankful

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop and Ten Things of Thankful.

This week, some of my thankfuls will be Christmas decorations. My first one will also count for my art this week. It is not my work, but my friend’s who is an amazing graphic designer ( and designed my logo and blog header). If you need any graphics done, click here.

  1.  Isn’t this a cute snowman and kitty?
  2. My friend, Heather who passed away at age 46 ( 12 years ago) gave me these snowmen so they are very special.
  3. A wreath with a kitty that looks like Millie.
  4. The hubby’s Star Trek tree which is now more of a Scifi tree complete with Dr. Who ornaments and a Lost in Space robot. The Spock ears were my idea 🙂
  5. My nip knots came out nice, I made 24 to give out to people who come to my house for their cats. I got the instructions from Summer’s blog. Click here
  6. Thankful that my Sammy got through his dental, I always worry when anyone is under anesthesia. Sammy got a nip knot from the tooth fairy.
  7. I am done shopping, but I am going  today with my mom and niece for fun.
  8. When I told my 2 yr old great-niece we were going shopping and she was going to stay home with Daddy, she said “want to go shopping with the ladies.”  I thought that was so adorable, already a shopaholic 🙂  ( She has an ear infection or she would be going).
  9. Librarian set aside a book about cats for me this week that I had not heard of before. It is nice to be known around town as a cat lover 🙂
  10. One of my friends came over to visit last Sunday. She had just finished shoveling and was going to make coffee, but came to me because she knew I would have coffee ready. I always have coffee available from 7AM to 10 PM.

Horror Movies Anyone?

Hi everyone! Today is Day 8 of #JHC and the word is corn maze/hayride, but the host said we could be flexible and use other words so I am going with horror movies. I am actually not a fan of them except for one which I will write about later in the month. I know I wrote about it before, but in case anyone missed it, I was in 2 horror films and if you want to see my lousy acting you should check them out.

Tooth Fairy

Hi everyone! As many of you know, there is a Tooth Fairy for cats. I thought it would be fun to have a badge that says the Tooth Fairy visited you so I asked my talented friend who also designed our blog header, Phoebe’s shades badge and the Friendly Fill-Ins to design one.

Feel free to take one if the Tooth Fairy has visited you. And if you are looking for a graphic designer, I highly recommend DiverseDesigning.com

Tummy Tuesday

Hi everyone! Mom finished my crowns, she made me 2 and I don’t like them! What part of bling don’t you understand Mom?

DSCF1530DSCF1524 (2)

I know I look great, but I want more BLING! These are just unacceptable. AND the worst part-she made Brody one! He is a mere serf in my kingdom and he gets a crown!
DSCF1531 (2)  And the little monster looks good in it. As you can see, he is pretty calm now. He goes over to Mom several times a day for pets and scritches. Here is a video with him purring ( sorry for the other odd noise, Mom’s cheap camera always has that sound). He gets a little excited a smacks her, but she deserves it for not doing my crowns as I specified.

I am going to see Grammie today. I love her so very much! And being that the title of this is Tummy Tuesday, Joanie agreed to show her tummy.

And special thanks to Jamie Swimm of DiverseDesigning.com for designing the badge. The shades will be heading out at the end of the week:

A New Hop is in Town

Hi everyone! I have a lot to tell you today. First, I want to share what The Chicken Soup people had to say when I contacted them about their awful choices of stories. This is their response word for word:

Thank you for contacting us about “The Cat and His Boy” in Chicken Soup for the Soul: My Very Good, Very Bad Cat. We were alerted to this problem shortly after the book came out and we were embarrassed and chagrined when we re-read the story. We went back to the writer and she explained what really happened and revised her story. Her son had not actually treated the cat that way—she is a big cat lover—but she had been going for a more dramatic effect in the story, thinking it was amusing—which of course was wrong.

Please do not hold this against us. When you are combining stories from lots of people mistakes can happen. We rarely make a stupid mistake like this and we took immediate action when we realized it. We are known for our wonderful treatment of animals and our passionate support for shelters. We provide tons of free cat and dog food to shelters and we actively promote the adoption of cats and dogs from shelters in our books. We even make sure to feature stories about black cats and black dogs, senior cats and dog, and pit bulls—all categories that are harder for shelter to place with families. Royalties from our last four dog and cat books go to the American Humane Association.

Please accept our apology and our assurance that the story has been revised for the next printing of the book and that we will be more careful in the future.

I am glad they already took action as far as this story was concerned. I wrote back and asked about the other stories I complained about written by people who don’t like cats- I am waiting for that response.

Now, I have big news- you all know how we love to hop. Annie of McGuffy’s Reader and I  were sad when Hilary Grossman of Feeling Beachie stopped doing her Friday Fill-Ins so we asked her if she would mind if we did it. And she said yes ! Thank you Hilary. So next Friday we will be co-hosting our first of hopefully many hops. There will be 4 fill-ins , 2 from each of us. We hope this will help us all get to know one another better. The fill-ins will be listed next Thursday.

Special thanks to Jamie Swimm ( who also designed my logo and header) for designing our badge: ellen_cat_badge_2 If you want to see more of his incredible work, check out his website.

We are very sad to see another beloved pet leave for The Bridge, if you haven’t already, please visit Whitley’s Mama, she is brokenhearted.Whitley Westie FOREVER Badge

Hopping Saturday

Happy Saturday everyone! I am using the same photo for The Lazy Pit Bull’s #52 Snapshots, theme “bokeh”  and Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop.

This is Sammy’s photo on the first day of Hanukkah last year. A much clearer version is in the Holiday issue of Catster on page 28. I will admit that I had to look up the word bokeh and I know I didn’t get it quite right, but it is the best I could do with my limited editing skills. Bokeh is a blurred photo where one thing is clear and I couldn’t figure out how to make one part clear. I used Lunapic, blur effect.

The real art is my new header. Thank you to my friend Jamie who is an excellent graphic designer. Here is the link to his DiverseDesigning
