The Purrfect Gift for Kids

Hi everyone! Today we are joining It’s Monday! What Are YOU Reading? The kiddy lit version hosted by Teacher Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers.

I apologize if you are sick of reading about Prancie’s Prayer. I want to thank everyone who has purchased it and/or written a review. I was thrilled when I check my publisher’s home page and saw it listed as a best seller for October. Click here.

As most of you know, it is a children’s ( ages 3-7) picture book set at Christmastime. It is based on how our cat Prancie joined our family. She really did appear at our outdoor nativity. I always tell people she went to Jesus for help.

I started blogging because I wanted to help cats by sharing knowledge I have learned from living with them. I also hoped to make money blogging so I could donate to rescue groups. I will admit that I have not made much blogging, I have only had 2 paid posts in over four years of blogging.. I have decided to donate all my royalties from October-December to Boston’s Forgotten Felines. I get just under $2 on every book sold ( except those purchased through me).

I chose this Boston’s Forgotten Felines because I have been following on of the volunteers, Joni Nelson, on Facebook for years. She is out at 3 AM daily feeding ferals in Boston. Many people treat her badly and try to poison the cats. Many of the cats are friendly and not actually feral, she tries to rescue them and find them homes, but there are so many. Boston gets very cold in the winter and I wish they had a place they could bring them inside , but all they can do is make shelters for them and feed them.

Here are the links to places you can purchase Prancie’s Prayer. Please share this post and help spread the word.

  8. We will never tire of anything related to Prancie’s Prayer! Being an October bestseller is a huge accomplishment, and I hope you’re just as proud of yourself as we are pride of you. I finally got some issues with my camera sorted out, and now I just need to get some furbabies to help model it and so that it can be on our blog! And it is so wonderful of you to donate proceeds to Joni and Boston’s Forgotten Felines. You are such a kind and caring person.

  9. Bless you, my dear, and this precious woman. I don’t understand cruelty to anyone. And I never tire of reading about your book. It was soooo sweet. Take care!

  10. “Prancie’s Prayer” is a delightful book, and I know children and adults will enjoy it! Here’s hoping it’s a best-seller for a few more months at least!

  11. I’ll never get tired of hearing about your wonderful book. Post away about it! It is a terrific thing you are doing. You have such a beautiful soul and although (sadly) not all cats can be saved, every little bit helps.

  12. Please don’t every apologize for promoting your book! As a former book designer, I know it’s a labor of love from start to finish. And, it sounds like a lovely story. The fact that you’re donating proceeds to help find furever homes is fantastic. I wish you all the best! xoxo

  13. Your book is beautiful, and i am not surprise to find out you are donating some of your proceeds. Hope you are having a fabulous Monday!

  14. That is so sad that people try to poison the cats. 🙁 Your book sounds so cute–especially since it’s based on your beloved pet. So sweet! By the way, I just read a middle grade book Lizzy and the Good Luck girl where two girls were working to raise money for a cat shelter. I like that these issues are making into kid literature, these days. Have a wonderful reading week!

    1. Thank you. That was sweet of you to purchase the Kindle. I hope your niece and nephew like it. XO

  16. Making a bestseller list is something to be proud of! You should also be proud of sharing those proceeds with needy cats.
We are not tired of hearing of your book. We will be sharing it in our holiday gift guide on the blog.

  17. Ellen, you have you a big heart and generous spirit in everything you do. Mom will share your message. She’s never made a penny from blogging, but would definitely give it away if she did. 18. Don’t worry about people getting tired of hearing about Prancie’s Prayer! Such a wonderful story! Knowing about your book helps inspire me too. I have an idea about a story of a homeless kitten and her family and how they were saved. Thank you fur helping Forgotten Kitties…

  19. I shared your post on Twitter, Ellen. I’m glad that the kitties of Boston have that lady to help them. I think it would be great if someone could build a house for the kitties to live and be warm. Maybe some day that can happen.

    Have a blessed week.
