Hi everyone. We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

I got Rudy’s echocardiogram results, and I am thankful we caught his heart issue in an early stage. He has HCM- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy stage B1. He is going to be on meds, but he needs blood work before that. Needless to say his dental is on hold until he is on the meds for a bit. It is actually fairly common in cats and Maine Coons are more likely to get this.

  7. Mom had never heard of HCM and had to look it up. We are so sorry Rusty has been diagnosed with this.   11. Chaplin: “We’re glad you found out about this before it progressed too far! Our beloved brother Dennis had heart issues, too, but Mama and Dada didn’t find out about it until he’d already had a partial valve rupture.”
    Charlee: “What is it with us and undetected things rupturing?”
    Chaplin: “We do seem to have a history there with Pooh Bear and then Dennis and then Dada … Anyway Dennis went on meds and they helped him stay healthy, so we are sure they will help Rudy too.”
    Charlee: “We send lots of purrs your way for him!”

  14. Sorry to learn of the details about Rudy’s heart condition but glad you were able to have it properly diagnosed. Sending you loads of positive thoughts as he goes on medication.

  18. So happy you caught it early and fingers crossed the meds do the magic! I didn’t know Rudy was a Maine Coon🧡… Rusty too. A wonderful thankful to be thankful for today, Ellen!

  21. I should clarify I mean really good news that you caught it early, not that the little guy has it!

  22. It’s good to finally know for sure. I hope the meds take care of it and he can have a dental before that becomes a problem.

  23. I am so glad Rudy’s HCM was caught in an early stage and that it sounds like meds will help him. This is a condition I don’t know much about. Please keep us posted on how he is doing, okay? He looks like he has nice long fur like Gabe. <3 You know how partial I am to the orangies!! 🙂 Sending purrs from the boys. <3
