Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone. We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

I am thankful that my great-nieces and nephew are on summer break now. We are having a great first week of vacation. I am thankful I found some activities that all 3 kids want to participate in like a puff painting set, shrinky dinks and a make your own bouncy ball set.

Monday the girls had a half day for the last day of school. The town has a party at the park with all kinds of water fun. I offered to bring them even though I don’t like being out in the sun. I was glad it was misty and cloudy, but nice enough to still have fun. The Great One hung out with her friends, but Typhoid Mary went on all the water slides at least 10 times each.

I am joining Angel Sammy’s Poetry Day.  Here is the photo prompt for today’s poem.

I am starting to cramp up
I sure hope that guy doesn’t back up.
How the heck can he be asleep?
Next time, I am going 1st class, I am done being cheap.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my wonderful co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

1. My summer bucket list includes ______________ and ____________________.
2. _____________ was one of the best summers that I ever had.

  1. Fun at a water park – perfect for summer time and the heat! Also you really came up with the perfect poem for Poetry Day……cramped seats are getting “crampier” as they squish things together to make room for more seats to make more money. Thanks for joining in this week – your poems always hit the mark.

Love and Hugs, Pam and Teddy

  2. What a fun outing to celebrate that schools out for the summer. Boy the kids at your state go to school really late. Ours got out the Thursday before Memorial day!

  3. How fun the kids are on summer break, and you have activities planned for them. That’s a perfect poem for the image.

  4. Que bom estar com os sobrinhos em férias! E o avião está sendo questão de sorte …Depende dos vizinhos, podemos ter uma viagem muito ruim…beijos, chica

  5. School is more fun these days. We never had an end of school party/picnic/anything! It was just a day that we didn’t pay attention, then went home early.

  6. Nice job with this week’s photo. And probably a good strategy for future travels. 😉

Glad The Great One had a good time. How cool that your town has a celebratory party when school is dismissed for the school year. Hope they both have a wonderful summer and get to spend loads of time with you.

  7. I would have loved that water park back in the day at her age! The closest I got to water on summer break was the Elk’s Club pool… the pool was the best thing about summer except for the horses.
I am happy you started off summer fun time with TGO, TM and The Boy!

  8. I forgot! I enjoyed your poem. I’m thinking always go first class. I wouldn’t know… I don’t fly anymore.

  9. Yeah, for the kids having fun. Our mom has never been on a water slide but has always wanted to try one. Good job on the poem. Mom says she will probably never fly again The people on plains are to crazy. She and Dad have been able to fly first class a few times, and it is a totally different world. Mom has her fill-ins ready for tomorrow. XOCK, angels Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid & Sawyer, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Kizmet, Audrey, Raleigh, Gibbs & Tali

  10. Water slides are such fun. Coming down, that is. The going up, not so much.

Your poem captured his discomfort very well!

  11. Oh mama loves water slides—maybe it’s time to revisit one. We don’t have a blog for a few days while the guru repairs it but we can still visit others. And we’re so sorry not to keep up with our own blogging…

  12. Charlee: “Our Dada doesn’t like to be out in the sun either! That’s why he has a collection of giant hats!”
Chaplin: “It makes you wonder why he and Mama moved to California in the first place …”
Oona: “So that they could adopt Oona, of course.”
Lulu: “So they could adopt YOU? What about the rest of us?”
Oona: “The rest of you were the lucky beneficiaries of Oona’s destiny.”

    1. Yes, why did they move out there? Yes, adopting all of you was a great reason. XO

  13. Awww… You know I understand your feelings about the sun. lol Out harvesting some herbs this afternoon it felt pretty nice despite the humidity. But that big orb in the sky always decides to shine through on me. Heh… To some it would be a good thing… Be well, my dear.
