Thankful Thursday

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

I am thankful Friday is OK after a little accident Tuesday night.  She jumped on top of a bookcase and a bunch of things fell off including a Galileo thermometer which smashed to pieces. She ran to the bedroom so I started picking up the glass so no kitty would get cut. The liquid was oily and smelled bad so I used Dawn to clean the floor. I didn’t realize Friday had some of the oil on her foot until later when she came back in the living room and was drooling. I cleaned her off with Dawn and wiped her mouth out. She seemed fine, but I set a timer and checked on her hourly through the night to be sure she was OK. I also looked on Google and discovered the liquid was kerosene. If you have one of those thermometers, I urge you to throw it away. If you are not familiar with them, click here.

We are joining the poetry day named after Teddy’s angel brother Sammy ‘s Poetry Day. Here is the photo prompt provided.

I wasn’t trying to be naughty

I just wanted to use the big boy potty.

Now I am stuck and all wet
so stop taking photos, I am starting to fret.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

  1. Oh dear, we have two of those, but we don’t have any kitties here to knock them off our piano…and mo doggies are in the living room, unless we are there. Hope Friday will be OK. Doesn’t kerosene cause liver kidney toxicity? (I just googled that issue, and found that for kerosene about 112 ml would have too be ingested…I don’t think that would be how much Friday got in by licking her paw.)

    You composed a cute poem!

    1. If you ever get cats again- be careful. I think she only licked once and realized it was icky. XO

  2. YIKES on the kerosene filled thermometer. Glad Friday is OK – that’s scary but cats do love to look for “high spots” to perch. Glad you got her paw cleaned off. EEK. Your poem is so cute – that little boy’s expression is priceless. I think he learned a lesson similar to Friday’s! LOL

    Hugs, Pam

  3. I am horrified for poor Friday. Bless her! Is she alright today or at least better?

  4. 1. I would rather hear nails on a chalkboard than ear drum breaking deep 150 db level bass thumps coming from speakers in cars.
    2. The best part of summer is when it’s over.
    3. I wouldn’t mind if extreme hair looks and wierd clothing styles disappeared.
    4. If I could create one rule that everyone in the world had to follow it would be, be courteous.

  5. Yikes, so sorry about the mishap. Ironic how we buy things that we think are safe but in actuality are fairly dangerous for our fur babies. Glad your Friday is A-Ok-even (on a Thursday 😉)

  6. I’m glad Friday is okay too. That was frightening. I don’t have one of those lamps. Good to know.

    Love the poem. So cute.

I’m all ready for the Friendly Fill-ins.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. xoxo ♥

  7. I too am very thankful Friday is ok. What a mess that made.
I broke a glass yesterday amazing how little pieces go all over. Afternoon sun helped me find them.
    Hugs Cecilia

  8. OMG I am so glad Friday is ok!!!! Haven’t had one of those types of thermometers in years! Only use the digital kind. Sending (((hugs)))) xoxo

  9. Wow ! Glad Friday is ok ! I was at the dentist yesterday and they had one setting on the reception desk – of course they don’t have any office cats ! It is good to know about them, as they are an attractive conversation piece. Kereosene seems a funny thing to use for that, though the alternative is ethanol which wouldn;’ be good for kitties either.

  10. Gracious, i wonder if they could be made with a less toxic liquid — i just looked it up, and they can be made with just water and some rubbing alcohol in the bubbles, but it seems many are made with a petroleum product and that shouldn’t be allowed.

    Love your poem!

  11. Poor Friday and poor you too. I’m sure glad that Friday is okay. We had one of those years ago but it went bye-bye in a yard sale. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  14. Charlee: “See? We knew toilets were dangerous, trying to suck people down into the sewers!”
Chaplin: “That’s why we sit outside the door when our humans are in there and stick our paws underneath it, to make sure they’re okay!”
Charlee: “Speaking of okay, we’re glad to hear Friday is all right after that misadventure.”
Chaplin: “Broken glass is bad enough, but add in kerosene? Yuck!”
