Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. Joanie and I are thankful The Great One is coming over for a visit today- for the first time in over a year. Joanie has been to her house a few times, but it is not the same.

Joanie is getting her costumes ready.

We are joining their poetry day named after Teddy’s angel brother Sammy ‘s Poetry Day. Here is the photo prompt provided:

What is that strange object between the stove and the sink?

For a moment, I had to think.
These days irons are as rare as the unicorn,
because they are the objects of scorn.
I have never liked ironing and rarely use mine. I love vintage though so I really like this kitchen aside from the ironing board and iron.
Today is G day in The A-Z Blogging Challenge.  G is for giving , giving makes me happy- I think it makes most people happy. It doesn’t have to be money or things, it can also be your time. We all have something to offer.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. I came up with the first two and my co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two. The linky stays open until Wednesday night.

1. I don’t like to ______________, but I have to.
2. I _______________like a __________________.
3. I secretly _________.
4. _________ wears me out.

  1. My human doesn’t even own an iron! She has a couple of steamers, but those are for my backdrops. I guess she could use them on something she wears in an emergency.

  2. Hooray for the Great One being able to come for a visit!
    Joanie will love it!

I don’t hardly iron anything, but hubby does iron all his shirts and sometimes his pants.

That old fashioned kitchen looks so cozy and
    ‘lived in’!

  3. I hate ironing too! The only time I iron is when I am packing to go on a cruise. Folding or hanging is good enough the rest of the time. I hope Joanie enjoys the visit.

  4. Cute poem for poetry day!! Also VERY happy to hear The Great One will be visiting you all today – I bet you have a blast!

    Hugs, Pam

  5. Mom didn’t notice the built in ironing board! Joanie…you will be so happy with The Great One coming over!

  6. You’re so cute Joanie. Hope you have lots of fun. Cute poem too. I don’t like to iron either, but I still do a few clothes. Have a good day!

  7. Enjoy your visit with the great one. How fun.

I love the poem and I love retro kitchens. I’ve a friend that had a 50s kitchen and it was ever so cool.

I’m passing on the fill-ins this week. Tomorrow is Marg’s birthday. Going to focus on that.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, Ellen. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to all the kitties. ♥

    1. Thank you. 🙂 NO worries on the fill-ins. Marg is a special lady. XO

  8. Well done on the poem and WooHoo enjoy the Great One’s visit
    Hugs Cecilia

  9. Dad bought an iron about 10 years ago when he was still working in an office and was planning on looking for a new job. Things worked out, he started working at home way before Covid and the iron is in storage, somewhere. Dad says he remembers being at Oma’s (Granny) smelling the fresh wash under the iron. It was wonderful, regular and comforting. I think we lost something with perma pressed.
That is a super thankful. Have a really really fun time everyone! We love giving too. Purrs

    1. My mom used to always iron too- even her sheets, but now she doesn’t. XO

I have an iron and a board, but I NEVER use them. XO

  12. I was just talking about how I never iron anymore! I always ironed my jeans and shirts and shorts when I was in high school. Now we have an ironing board in the garage. Don’t know how it ended up out there! Hope you had fun with The Great One today… I know you and Joanie did!

    1. My mom used to iron for me when I was in high school because she insisted I not wear wrinkled clothes. We all had fun. XO

    2. I sometimes feel like a nut and sometimes I don’t.
    3. I secretly wanted to be a singer in my younger years. Did I mention I can’t carry a tune?
    4. Housework wears me out.

Have a great weekend, Ellen. Scritches to the kitties. ♥
