Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! Before we get started, we want to give our condolences to Wag”nWoof Pets on their loss of beautiful Samantha.

And to The Cat Corner on the loss of their handsome boy, Sammy.

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. I am thankful that Penny and Sammy’s blood work was good. Sammy will have his dental next Thursday and also get that bump on his nose checked. Penny has great teeth for a 10 year old and no dental is needed.

Here is my poem today for Sammy’s Poetry Day based on this photo:

If only this tree could talk,
it was alive before Bach.
I bet it has seen couples stealing kisses
then returning as Mr. and Mrs.
Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and our co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

1. 13 years ago, I __________________.

2. By this time next year, I hope to ________________________.

3. One word that describes me is _________.
4. If my life were a book or movie, it would be in the _________ genre.
One more thing-any guesses as to what this is? And no, our logs do not have the measles.

  1. Meowser Ms. Ellen. Are you making polkadot scratching posts?
    Purrseidon

  2. I have no idea what those objects are, but judging by the surface they are on I don’t think they are as big as they look.
I am glad Sammy and Penny’s blood work was good.
I don’t do the Fill Ins because I usually only do my flashbacks on Fridays now, but 13 years ago I was laid up with a badly broken lower leg and had discovered cat blogs. Soon after (July 2006) Eric and Flynn started blogging.

    1. I wish I had discovered blogging that long ago. Sorry you had a broken leg though. XO

  3. I am so sorry to hear of the kitties going over the Bridge, Ellen. 🙁

I think that was an awesome poem for the photo prompt. Those trees must have a zillion cool (and, maybe, some not so cool) stories to tell.

Hmmm are you making a wooden polka dotted elephant? 🙂 Whatever it is, I think it looks like fun!

Thanks for the fill-ins. David is trying again this week, too. Have a blessed weekend.

    1. Good guess, I will tell all tomorrow. I look forward to yours and David’s answers. I hope you have a blessed week too. XO

  4. It is always sad to hear of kitties crossing the Bridge.
WE send lots of purrs to their families.
We liked the poem a lot!!
    Purrs Georgia,Julie and JJ

  5. So sad about the losses this week and now Mags, Ann’s heart kitty has joined the other Angels. Losses seem to come in batches and it’s tough. On the positive side we’re happy that blood work for your two was GOOD and we’ll hope Sammy’s bump is OK too. We love your poem for the photo this week and the HUGE tree – we think you’re right about that little “cave” being a nice spot for some private moments……. Those logs with dots are intriguing but we haven’t got the SLIGHTEST idea what they are! DO TELL!!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

  6. So glad the kitties are allright, miss Ellen <3 Great poem again and so romantic too😺 I think those are tree trunks who are bleeding…I hope I'm wrong… Pawkisses for a Happy Thursday toall of you🐾😽💞

  7. Ellen,

I’m sorry to hear of these kitties going to the Rainbow Bridge. This week has been a sad one for many. A close childhood friend died on Monday. It’s so heartbreaking, especially for her family. Another childhood friend’s mother died on Sunday which is sad but sorta expected given her age & health. Death is never easy no matter when it happens, though.

On to lighter things like your cute poem which is adorable. 🙂 Have a purrfect day!

    1. I am so sorry about your friend and your other friend’s mother, so sad. XO

  8. That was so sad about the new Angels. Hey, do those trees have the measles? Purrs for a successful dental day. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  9. Great poem about the tree. So sad about all the kitties going to the bridge. We have no idea what those objects are but can’t wait to find out. Have a great day.

  10. Thank you so much for sharing our Samantha, it means so much to me. ♥
We went by The Cat Corner to express our condolences as well. It seems ironic, two long haired black cats, one male, one female, with almost the same name, passing within days of each other. 🙁
We are glad for the good news for your crew, and hope all will go well with Sammy’s dental and having that bump checked.

  11. It is amazing to think about what a large tree like that has witnessed over the years. I think there is a tree in St. Augustine that was there when the first settlers arrived.

  12. And Ann of Zoolatry lost her Maggy too. Too sad.

    Love your poem.

I’m all ready for the Friendly Fill-ins.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. My best to your mom. ♥

    1. I was sad to read about MAggie. I look forward to your fill-in answers. XO

  13. Wow, I think you’ve got us all stumped on the pink-dotted logs!
Too many friends are running over The Bridge; so very sad. My condolences to all of their families.
Wonder how trees think of humans, since they live for so very long, and we live and die much quicker.

  14. guyz…ya nailed two dayz poem !!! N shop vac N penny; we iz glad yur ree portz’ for de most part; wented sew well ~~~ya can hide out her next thurzday buddy 😉 ♥♥

    1. Thank you. Sorrym I am not telling shop vac he can hide out with you 🙂 XO

  15. Soft woos and gentle hugs to the families of your friends Sammy and Samantha on their losses. It is never easy to lose a beloved furry.

That’s a great poem for that very old tree – we would love to be able to see the full view of that giant in the real world.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  16. It’s so heartbreaking when kitties cross the rainbow bridge 🙁

Very well done on the poem! And good news about the results for your fur babies.

  17. My condolences to all who loved Samantha and Sammy.

Great news on the veterinary front at your house.

That’s a fun poem, yes, that tree has seen some things, if only it could talk.

Those polka dot stumps have me stumped. (Yes, i know, technically they are not stumps, but i liked the way that sounded.)

  18. My prayers are with the families of all the angels who have gained their wings.

Your poem is as clever as ever! Now, those logs might not have the measles, but what about chicken pox?

    1. Chicken pox is close being that the mushrooms in them are hen of the woods 🙂

  19. A very cute poem… kisses under a tree sound good to me! So sad about the kitties that passed. Prayers for their hoomins that are broken-hearted.
A lot of thankful that Penny and Sammy had good bloods! Hoping Sammy’s bump is just that… just a bump.
Love the logs for the mushrooms!

  20. Thank you so much for including Sammy in your post. I’m sad to hear of others losing their furbabies too. I’m glad you had good news about Penny’s dental.
