Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. This week I am thankful for pussy willows, the first sign of spring.
Now I need to put them in vases and give some away.
Thank you to all who gave their input yesterday on my A-Z choices. Almost everyone chose money saving tips for cats so that is what I will do. Is anyone else doing the A-Z Challenge in April?
Here is my poem for Sammy’s Poetry Day based on this photo prompt.
Hand in hand they walk,
there is no need to talk.
Why ruin a precious moment with words,
talking is for the birds.

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Mom came up with the first two and our co-host, Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.

  1. We are expecting forythia to bloom soon. And TBT says he will dig everyone of them out when they do… Well, there ARE kinda taking over…

  2. Ellen, obviously, you don’t have allergies to airborne pollen – when we had a pussy willow bush in our yard (years ago) I couldn’t go near it when it was in bloom… I can’t imagine having them inside my house. That said, I do love their looks.

  3. That is a PERFECT poem for the photo this week. Walking in the silent snow….much better than chatting endlessly about nothing! Love it.

    Hugs, Pam

  4. When you are so compatble with someone you can be quiet together, it’s a good thing.

No pussy willow here, please, i’m allergic.

  5. As much as I fret and complain about Winter, sometimes while on the back deck with The PO’M and Sweetie, I can listen to the snow fall quietly, and it’s a very peaceful experience. Can’t beat it!

  6. That’s a lovely poem. The only thing missing in that photo is The OP Pack:) We would love to be strolling along with the happy couple in the beautiful snow!

  7. I’m all ready for the Friendly Fill-ins tomorrow. Great questions.

I’m glad you’ve decided what theme you’re going to use for the A to Z challenge. I’ll be here everyday to read your posts.

Have a fabulous thankful Thursday, Ellen. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥

  8. What a wonderful harvest of pussy willows and a nice sign of Spring.

    “I know a little pussy
    Her coat is silver gray
She lives down in the meadow
    Not very far away.

    Though she is a pussy
    She’ll never be a cat.
    She is a pussy willow.
Now what do you think of that!”

I don’t know who wrote that.
    xxoo

  9. A long, long time ago my mother saw an Oriental physician. She took a bouquet of these cuties, which he called ‘kitties in the tree’. Isn’t that cute? I may have already told you my plan to do a novel writing challenge in April, instead. But have fun. I’ll enjoy reading your words. Best wishes, my dear!

    1. That is a cute name 🙂 Good luck on your challenge- I know you will do well. XO

  10. Thanks for sharing your poem with us. We are very happy that spring weather is starting to move in. Just hope spring stays around a little longer before the hot summer is here. Have a great day.

  11. I always have the plan to plant pussy willows in my yard. Maybe someday……! And, as the recipient of one of those vases, I thank you again for your generosity. You have a lovely way with words for the poetry prompts.

  12. OMC Pussy Willows!!! Ours died. We don’t know what mommy did wrong. They had such purretty roots and mommy planted them up and then they died. Mommy says after everythin’ settles down, she might see ifin any of the others you sent will root after all this time and ifin so, she’s just gonna grow ’em in a pot in the house. She has a daylight lamp and can make sure it gets the right amount of sun and heat and cool inside. Somethin’ she can’t do outside. We were so lookin’ furward to havin’ our own. Big hugs

    Luv ya’

  13. What a lovely poem! Sometimes walking together in silence is the most beautiful experience. I’m really looking forward to spring!

  14. Pussy willows! I don’t think I’ve seen those growing wild since I was a kid. I need to find some.

  15. Mom loves pussy willows. When she was growing up, they had them the yard. She never sees them for sale at the nurseries here. Your poem is poignant and sweet. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

  16. You know, I don’t see many pussy willows in my neck of the woods. We have lots of other blooms trying to emerge, but I rarely see these beauties. I am also participating in the A to Z challenge. I’ll yet again be creating doodles for it, and this time around all of them will be starring my angel Rosie. And your poem is so sweet! It fits this image beautifully.

  17. Fun poem. I love it. I also love pussy willows. I used to see them when my dad was stationed in Japan but here in Arizona, I haven’t seen one in a long time. I love how soft they feel.
