Black Cat Themed Giveaway

Happy Monday everyone! Monday is fun and games day and we also have a black cat themed giveaway. I love to decorate for Halloween and my 4 black cats are the best decorations- year round.

I bought a kit at Michael’s to make a black cat out of beads that melt. Flat Scout Charles helped me when he was staying with us.003It looked so simple, you follow the diagram and place the beads on the orange board. Then you cover it with the special paper that came in the kit and run your iron over it. The beads melt together and you have a cat- NOT! 003As you can see, many of the pieces didn’t melt and fell apart. Luckily, I know someone who is a pro at this and she has an Etsy store. Billy the Time Cat’s Mom makes all kinds of items from magnets to coasters and Billy recently modeled for some. You can check it out at the link:TCA shop . Billy’s Mom uses the money she earns with the store to pay for his insulin.

Now for the giveaway- Spooky is modeling with the loot.

A catnip mat ( black cat print on purple) , black cat socks, a mini book with a black cat, a cookie cutter , a black cat pin and your very own bead kit to make a black cat. I will also include some crocheted catnip toys. Just comment today through Wednesday – winner will be announced Thursday. Comment every day for more chances. Good luck!017

Selfie Sunday

Hi everyone! Selfie Sunday ,but first I will get you all caught up. Flat Charles left Friday, we all miss him. We were all sad to see him leave-even Grammie. I love my Grammie so very much, I hope she visits me a lot this coming week. I scored 2 bags of treats from her this week ( I love her even without treats though) .

Could you please purr and pray for my purrince’s Mum, she has newmonia. He is taking good care of her because he is a sweet boy.

My cat grass is still alive, I post a photo on Facebook daily to keep Mom in line show you the progress.

004I finally got a turn with the valerian heart.

Tortie Tuesday

Hi everyone! Today is Tortie Tuesday instead of tummy Tuesday. One of our kitty readers requested seeing more of the tortie with the hope of getting to know her better so here is Penny:

Here she is hanging out with Flat Scout Charles ( one of these days we need to mail him home) . And here she is enjoying the valerian heart that Katzenworld sent us. We won a Posh Graffiti Christmas ornament in a giveaway and they were kind enough to send us this heart too. All the kitties have been loving it and drooling on it too. It also makes a great pillow. If you want your own, you can order here:

This is the ornament that I won. It is beautiful and when you buy one you are helping a rice farming village in Bali to supplement their income.

Selfie Sunday

Hi everyone! Yesterday was Meow Like a Pirate Day and I got to spend the day with my purrince. 001

You can see our photo and Angel Lucy’s and lots of other cool pirates:

I am a little tired today. I am also a little miffed at Mom. As you know, Lucy left me in charge. Well, Mom keeps singing to Flat Charles and telling him he is in charge or our days and our nights. He is a lot of fun, but I am the boss.

Prancie and Sammy played Scrabble with him, but Prancie got mad and quit when they told her she couldn’t add an S to mouse. 003

005She knocked her part of the game right over.

I saw my Grammie yesterday and I will see her again today. I love my Grammie so very much. She is going to be a Great Grammie soon so her and Mom are going to a baby shower today. I think my Grammie has always been great.

The 3 Tabbies ( Prancie, KaTwo and Stinky) went to a Pirate party at the Tabby Cat Club and they got to take this badge for participating: TCCPIRATEDAYBADGEYou can see their photos here:

Guest Post by Cat Scout Maggie

Hi everyone ! We are very lucky to have Cat Scout Maggie here with a guest post.

Hello, everyone!  A few weeks ago my roommate Felix told you about a couple of cat museums in Holland and Singapore.  Today, I’ll share news about three cat museums right here in the States!

“If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but would deteriorate the cat.” Mark Twain

The Cat Museum of San Francisco is dedicated to exploring the relationship between people and their feline friends.  They are a fairly new museum (founded in 2010), and don’t have walls, but they have an active exhibition program and a fun website.  Their mission is to collect, exhibit and interpret various objects related to the CAT.

Visit them and read about our Egyptian ancestors and more at

The Egyptians came to associate the cat with the Goddess Bastet, with the image of the Goddess taking the form of a cat or a woman with the head of a cat. The cat itself became the living representative of the “Cat Goddess” within the Egyptian home, so much so that killing a cat was punishable by death. The cats’ nocturnal habits, reproductive abilities, protective/nurturing instincts and hunting skills all attached themselves to the Egyptian and later Greek and Roman Goddesses. egyptian cat

Next are two museums in Ohio.

The Feline Historical Museum, in Alliance OH, founded by the Cat Fanciers’ Association

One of its highlights is the Frank Lloyd Wright Cat House.  The 4-foot square piece was designed in 1954 specifically for a cat belonging a young girl. The design by Thomas Olsen, the site supervisor, was created under the direction of Frank Lloyd Wright, who had described his vision during a phone call with Olsen. Today, Wright (1867-1959) is recognized as the greatest American architect of all time, and the cat house is considered as one of his more unique designs.

On February 1, 2012 the Feline Historical Museum opened its first special collection featuring the Maneki Neko, commonly called the Japanese Welcoming Cat. These cats are recognized worldwide and are thought to bring good luck and fortune to those who keep them in their business establishment or home.

Thank you Maggie! Make sure you all comment today for a chance to win this pirate themed catnip mat – winner announced tomorrow:006

Phoebe is Back

Hi everyone, Phoebe here. Sorry I haven’t been able to write, I miss Lucy. As Mom was carrying her out, we touched noses. That means she chose me to be the Queen of the house. I was really the only kitty she liked, she liked KaChoo too before she left for the bridge and now they are together.

Sunday was Grandparent’s Day and I wanted to make a big deal out of it because I love my Grammie so very much, but I didn’t get to. I was going to make her a coaster with air dry clay and my paw prints, but Mom took the clay with her so the vet techs could get Lucy’s paw prints.

Penny has chosen the winner of the socks 010Jan’s Funny Farm

Congratulations!! And Penny also is adding in one of the dog toys Mom made and some crocheted catnip toys for the kitties so everyone will be happy.

We have had Cat Scout Charles visiting us, he is very sweet and lots of fun. He even posed for our next giveaway which starts today. As you know ,Talk Like a Pirate Day is Saturday so we are giving away a pirate themed catnip mat:006We will announce the winner on Saturday.

Flat Scout Charles even got to go to Emily Dickinson’s House:

One more thing….has anyone seen my bikini? It was traveling and I haven’t seen anyone post about wearing it in a while.
